you have a permanently fully laden truck, doubt you will be seeing over 20MPG, but you may be able to get a tune download for the engine ECU to help to up your mpg
my top saving tip, have you worked out the exhaust brake yet ? [it should be on an extra stalk on the right] turn it on to save lots of money on your brakes, never mind preventing brake failure on steep hills... all the best for '24

@@Touringwiththekidsat school we had a memorable lesson on friction, we had little sledges pulled with spring gauges, the sledges were made of different materials & there were weights to load them, we had to read how much it took to get each combination to start & how much to keep it moving steadily. We were supposed to do lubrication next but I don't remember it, perhaps it didn't happen?

Why would you not want some beautiful fresh herbs in your cooking? Well done for using the rosemary! Avoiding motorways works better in Spain than France. The "normal" roads in France are often really slow going.
I have a Nature's Head composting toilet. Expensive to buy, but really good to use, and odour free.
What a fabulous twisty road! Don't be shy of looking for quiet spots in the middle of nature for over night parkups. Another option is industrial estates. Especially as you have a lorry. Do a bit of "stealth" camping. (Draw your curtains around the cab, so it looks like a driver is asleep there).
    Excellent budget week! Well done.

Seeing Teddy wait for 'daddy' to help him out of the cab was adorable! My son at that age would have just jumped! Impulse control is still a bit light - hopefully it'll improve as he could learn to drive next year
Ric was impressive educating the kids - it must take a lot of patience pitching it to suit all three

We have travelled a lot in a motorhome over the years and always plan routes and try and use the free park ups where we can. The only thing I would say is that to make the budget realistic you need to add one 52nd of the annual cost of tax, MOT, Insurance, maintenance and depreciation for the lorry and the same for any health insurance, subscriptions (VPN/Netflix etc) if you have any.

    • @Touringwiththekids

Hahh! Please come to Hungary and see around here! The fuel cost are less than other costs for use and driving a 7.5t lorry. Here have a biggest cost of road using per kms, here have a biggest insurance for trucks per year, and we have a lowest incoming money in EU. So I think, you are a best situation when I see your camper truck and a possible to living in camper truck...
I think, you make it this easy if I see the fundamental differents between two countries (UK and H).
In Hungary, when you want to buy this truck, you pay 5 million HUF (1086 gbp), then you must pay insurance (110 gbp per year minimum), then you must pay average 0,40 gbp per kms when do you rolling in hungarian roads (average! biggest cost for motorways, lowest costs for every roads). I think, the conversion from truck to camper maybe 1100-1400 gbp, and coming here the licensing (when the government accepting the conversion). In UK everyone convert easy, in HU need more licensing and pay for engineer to plan. Without plan, not possible to conversion. Enjoy.
So I wish the best for living in a camper, I like your delicious and possibility, respect this, and I follow your adventures ;)
P.S.: if you want to coming to HU, please write me. 😉
