Excellent presentation. Thank you! A lot of the problems you describe are common throughout Soviet industry under Stalin and after. I’m wondering if a comparison to other industries would be illuminating. The metro always cost five kopeks because that’s what NYC cost at the time the designs were pirated. It still works fine, but the technology, until recently, didn’t change much. For that matter, the GAZ, Kamaz and VAZ plants were all built as copies of foreign best practice at a point in time, then never changed much. Works (sort of) for cars and trucks, but the Navy is in an international competition. Anyway thanks again!

Buy the new volumes of books out if this stuff interests you; they are called, "Warships of the Soviet Fleets, 1939-1945"- in 3 volumes. These are far beyond anything else that was available until now- though not discrediting anyone here who worked on the subjects by authoring books in the past.
These new volumes are really eye-popping in scope where the Soviet Navy is concerned during those years.
They are available through the US Naval Press & so worthwhile !!
    🚬😎👍

1936 Battleship design has a transom hull. Years ahead of its time.

Makes sense if they were 'copying' from British designs like the Nelson class.. as the previous generation of royal navy capital ships to be authorised for construction the N3 & G3 battleship & battlecruiser both featured a transom stern this would have been in 1920 & they were cancelled as a result of Washington naval treaty a year or so later. But would have been relatively well know of and i think it's reasonable to assume the Soviets were influenced by that in their designs here.

I enjoy these videos, but when questions are asked, it is hit or miss, to hear/understand the question.
