    I bought one in 1970 and I still have it. 340 4 speed with 391 gears.

    Anything with Vent Windows is cool in my book!! I had a beautiful rust free 72 Swinger with a 225 /6 and factory A/C back in the early 2000s...sorry I sold it

    a " 318 slant 6" hehe. In '70 Chrysler's LA series engines were the 318 and 340 V8s. Chrysler's only six in 1970 was the 225 Slant 6.

      It sounds like he is unsure if it was originally a 318 car or a slant 6 car. I'll guess it was a 318 car but the VIN will tell for sure what it was!

      @@SamsterOne my dad’s was a 318 auto, she was pretty good but the 340 four speed manual I think is a tad better.

    Uhh, sorry but a slant 6 is a inline 6 cylinder with 225 cid, the 318 was the v8😮

    Those are great looking cars, is the green one an original 340 car? If it is, it should have an 8.75 diff. Awesome car either way.

    • @classiccarresurrection7943
      @classiccarresurrection7943  3 роки тому

      No, it is not. It was originally a 318 car. The original 340 cars had a factory 3:23 rear end. This one has a 4:10.

    I like the orange car better because it still has its original gear-reduction starter & is a four-speed although both cars are nice.

      I definitely do like the originality of it more however the Green car grew on me after purchasing it. I wasn't completely sold on it when we first got it.

    Why would you even bother starting them at that temperature? The oil will be like molasses and not flow quickly enough to protect moving parts. Just engine wear for no reason.

    • @classiccarresurrection7943
      @classiccarresurrection7943  4 роки тому +3

      We start the cars once every month or so during the winter and this was that attempt. In the Spring, I service all the cars prior to driving and have never had an issue.

    • @tombaxter2241
      @tombaxter2241 4 роки тому +2

      @@classiccarresurrection7943 I hear you and understand what you're trying to do but all you're doing is making condensation in the engine and the exhaust pipes. You'll never get the oil temperature hot enough to evaporate the moisture, only driving it will do that. And they aren't using light 5w20\30 oil like today's cars. Add fuel stabilizer in the fall, drive it, change the oil, put a battery tender on it, put it away and forget about it until spring. It's ready to go. I'm a mechanic and in Canada as well.

    On the orange car(Dart Swinger) check to see if the automatic choke is working properly. The engine sounds good.
    The choke on the GTS seems to be working. Check the choke pulloff adjustment. It seems to be starving for air on initial startup.

    • @classiccarresurrection7943
      @classiccarresurrection7943  4 роки тому +2

      Both chocks are working perfect! I did do a full run through of the mechanically components during the winter and nothing was of concern!

    Just curious, but why does the Dart Swinger have California, US plates and the GT 340 has Alberta Canada plates?

    • @classiccarresurrection7943
      @classiccarresurrection7943  4 роки тому

      We bought the car out of Denver and brought it to Canada. The prior owner lived in California and no one ever bothered to remove the plates before it sold. Since it arrived at the end of the Summer season, we left the California plates on until Summer when we could drive it :) Thanks for the support!

    We were a Chrysler family. I remember that starter sound well. Also how cold natured my 71 340 4 speed Demon was. When getting quality gas became a problem I swapped motors with a wrecked low compression 1973 340 and drove it until the early eighties. My wife and I needed a family car when we had our second child so I sold it and the 71 motor for enough to by a 4 door Dodge. I wish now I would have had the money to store it.

    Love these cars .. you make them look bad because you have no idea how to start them properly.. not to be mean or rude but from an old mopar guy I can tell ya first you didn’t pump enough an set choke .. if you pump an pump the throttle a bunch an then give one last even full throttle down an up sets the choke they usually most always jus fire right up .. so many young lads too use to fuel injections lol.. but your car does sound nice when running a they look very nice too

      My dad’s 72 Dart had the 318, but he could be heard over the whining starter cursing cause the swinger wouldn’t start in the summer, lol. I absolutely love these cars and the 340 is my favourite Mopar!
      Uncle had one in his early 70’s red with the black stripe, four speed Duster. They were way underrated for sure. Surprise a lot of big blocks with that high revving ripper.
      Speaking of big blocks, I believe there was once a 426 hemi stuffed into a Dart you could order. Scary 😧
