Keep the Dart Swingers alive. Live on baby big block killers. I have two 70 currently out of many over the past 40 years.63 now and still loving the mighty Swinger….ENJOY!

Awesome car! To bad about the crappy sound track so that we couldn't hear the Awesome motor. I was excited at first because it looked like you took out the radio. I took the radio out of my bee and threw it in the trash. Not that you could hear it anyways, lol. Then I made a perfect, crinkle finish, "radio delete" plate. Great car, son.

Love these things. My older brother owned, at the same time, a 1969 and 1970 340 Swingers, 4-speeds. He still regrets the day he eventually sold them. I wish I was old enough ,and working, to buy them.😭

Good for you, BB! Some of my favorite cars were ones that I towed home. Back in my day, I paid $500 for a 340 Challenger with a blown head gasket. I never looked in the trunk when negotiating. When I got it home I found the spare tire floating in a couple inches of water, lol. I had sooo much fun with that car. With headers and a 4.33 rear. It ran 14.85@97 mph.I sold it for $1,400 and put that money towards a RR. Good times. Best of luck to you my friend.

@@RedneckRealist a million thanks, BB! I wish I still had the 69, RR. It was too nice to be a race car. I swear it was a Twilight Zone episode when I went to look at it the first time. It was sitting in the parking lot of my local Dodge dealer! It looked like a brand new, off the assembly line RR! Immaculate. Metallic Turquoise, white vinyl top, white bench seat, Air Grabber/Coyote Duster air cleaner. It wasn't the Super Commando, 383. It was just the 4 barrel one. Not fast at all. Probably a mid 15 second car. What I really needed was something to put my '61, 413 with max wedge heads, in. So, I sold it and found a 69.5 Super Bee with a seized 383. This with my 413 ran 12.55@107. I was kind of a celebrity with groupies and everything! Crazy times. If there's a heaven I will be reunited with that Bee, someday. I'm 60, so it prolly won't Bee long. Keep me posted on your project please, so I can live vicariously through you? Thanks for the memories.

My very first car was a 1970 340 Dodge Dart Swinger. It was 1976 and I had just turned 16 yrs old and had a fresh driver's license in my pocket. It only had 42,000 miles on it and had what I thought were interesting choices of items to have on what was essentially a jr. muscle car at the time it had been made. It had a 727 Torqueflite transmission, check. An 8 3/4 " Sure-Grip rear end. Same transmission that came in the bigger and faster cars and that rear end was tough enough for big blocks. Ok, must have wanted a cheap jr. racer racer. Saw an ad for back then recently that said, "6,000 rpm for $3,000!" Well, it was also ordered with air conditioning, power steering and power disc front brakes that had 4 pistons in each caliper. Those brakes actually came on the these Darts stock, people had to specify NOT to have the disc brakes. The power part of the brakes. Dumb, saved my butt too many times. Bone stock from it's carburetor to the factory exhaust manifolds. It even had the 4 hubcaps that it had from the factory. The deck lid had already rusted out to the point that the lock was about to fall off and there was rust in the quarter panels. Lucky for me, we were 3 years into the first OPEC rationing. Suddenly everyone wanted an economy car and muscle cars were the devil. Anyway I got it for &350 plus TT&L.

My first car was a 70 Swinger, Slant Six auto, gold with a white top. Great car.
Back in 95 I found an orange 340 sitting about 3 blocks from my house. Knocked on the door but no answer. About 2 weeks later there was an ad for a 70 Dart in the paper. I called, and the lady selling it bought it new with her dad as a cosigner. She said it was all original, and asked if I wanted to come look at it. I said yes, she asked if I needed directions. I asked if it was orange, she said yes, I told her I didn't need directions. It had a black bench seat interior and column shifted automatic. No vinyl top and no performance hood paint, but it did have the black bumblebee stripe. I rebuilt the AVS and it lit right up. It was indeed all original, #s matching, and if I remember correctly, it had a 3:55 Sure Grip in it. The interior was pretty much trashed with duct tape seat covers, but it was all there. I was about a year and a half into the resto of a 70 383 4 spd Air Grabber Road Runner coupe at the time, but I couldn't pass it up. After I had the car about a year, I decided I was done restoring cars. It went to a guy outside Chicago who had to hide it from his wife as he had 4 or 5 other Darts. Wish I'd been able to keep it and restore it to the condition your is in.
