PlayStation, Sony, Nintendo Switch, Star Ocean, Visions of Mana, Square Enix, The Legend of Dragoon, Mega Man X, The Legend of Zelda, Text, Accessibility, UI, Dead by Daylight, Behaviour, Insomniac, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2, bigger text size, colored text
Main reason is resolutions have got higher. When games were running at like 720p you couldn't really have the text be small and still be readable because it would just be a blocky mess. If you go back and play some of the 360 and PS3 era games the text and UI elements are always way too BIG and obscure the gameplay, in my opinion. I agree though that developer should put the time into adding UI scalers because as someone who plays a lot on Steam deck, the smaller text in games these days is pretty annoying. These things are subjective and things like eyesight, seating position, display type etc etc etc all factor into peoples preferred UI scale. So they should just allow us to change it, even if it takes extra work.
I think the first time I noticed the text getting smaller. Was seeing Banjo Kazooie/Tooie next to Banjo Nuts n Bolt.
@@Gordoniankid I suppose it has been getting smaller gradually over time haha. I'm a bit too young to have noticed those kinds of things during that era but I can appreciate what you are saying
@@Notpoop906 It wasn't until during the PS4 era where I realized the Zoom In feature was something I kept needing to use a lot. Also how jarring it was to go from, The Legend of Dragoon, with it's large text & UI. To then trying the Resident Evil 4 Remake Demo with way smaller text & UI (although the full game lets you customize text size). So this is a rant I've had a lot, just never put it into video form.
You make a great point, I feel they forgot that the text is pretty important for pretty much everything in-game, at least give people real option, if someone wants the text to take a quarter of the screen, give the option. Also the Devil Survivor OST in the background is awesome.
@@Franckatana I love use Action from Devil Survivor 1 and Exploration from Devil Survivor 2 as background tracks. I'm also the same way of going "Is that DeSu music?!" when it's in a video XD. Usually people relay on "Beneath the Mask" from Persona 5 so much.
I feel like the text issue is way worse of the game has no English audio. Hell, it already annoys me when Japanese audio doesn't get translation text (example: BlazBlue Central Fiction for fight dialogue or Xenoblade games not having post battle subtitles for either voice track).
My favorite is the Septentrion Field music from Devil Survivor 2, but the whole franchise's OST is pretty good.
The Devil Survivor OST on the background is goated
Devil Survivor 1 & 2 are my favorite MegaTen games, plus those tracks are great for background music. I know so many people use "Beneath the Mask" from Persona 5 and "Color your Night" from Persona 3 Reload. So I want to avoid using those two tracks at all cost due to overuse. Plus there is so many game OSTs that don't get recognition, like this video including a World of Final Fantasy track. And another video uses Stranger of Paradise tracks.
@@Gordoniankid Not my faves but up therr for me. I adore both DeSus. Even then, personally, P4's Your Afection is a better background song than both of them.
0:49 True.
Yes, another fellow Star Ocean Till end of Time fan.
I agree with the point being made, but you sound like a child who's afraid that their mom is going to yell at them if they're too loud.
Weird, I put in effort into trying to sound loud and passionate. An earlier recording I did sounded like what you described though XD.
I was thinking the same thing. It sounds like you're excited but trying to keep your voice down. It's fairly quiet.
@@sixteenpennynails Alright noted. I gotta project my voice better.
I watched a couple of other videos and it didn't sound like that.
@@sixteenpennynails Ok then that's weird. Because other videos I talk more calmly but sound monotone. I was trying to sound louder and more passionate here. I guess I don't understand my own voice XD.
