In this episode, we work to tune the engine and get the Coors Willys L134 Jeep Engine to run more consistently. There are several steps you have to take to set the timing on these 4-134 engines. Join me in the adventure of a Kaiser Supersonic Willys L134 Go Devil Engine for the Jeep. You never know what you are going to get or what is waiting around the corner. Watch to find out...
In gasoline engines:
White Smoke is actually steam and indicates an issue with the head gasket.
Blue Smoke is usually oil burning.
Black Smoke is usually running rich and it is most likely getting more fuel than it needs.
This Willys CJ2a Jeep restoration has stretched me in many new ways of things I have never done before.
I'm learning a lot as I go as I dig into this project. It is definitely an education.
This is part of the series to turn a pile of old vintage flat fender jeep parts into a running 4x4 off road Jeep for playing. These are great four wheel drive trucks but they take some work to keep going or get going. Grab a beverage and enjoy the journey. There will be heartbreaks but there will be joy as well along the journey. If it was easy everyone would do it.
Nice job man, thats a milestone for sure. The finish lines finally in sight!
Been a long road....
That idle is really smooth and nice! If it stumbles when you give it some gas, it should be the pump inside the carburetor that looks like a plunger 🪠 it does wear out over time. Having it running is so rewarding, looking forward to a next video!
thanks for the tip. I'll have to look into it when I get a chance.
Wow that sounds really good 👍👍
Thanks! It is much quieter than the other engine I had in it.
Great to see it running, when is the test drive
not sure, I need to take care of some things first.
Your idle is niceee. I, yet again, have had the same problems as you. This time it’s with my idle. It only runs good without dying as long as I have the choke out almost all the way. Sometimes the carb floods and sometimes it doesn’t. What do you think is wrong ? It’s always nice to hear other opinions. I think it’s just the carb float and needle and even the plunger.
it could be as easy as you have a piece of trash in a jet and it needs to be cleaned out. flooding is typically the float and or needle. i had a needle break off one time and then I had to replace it. sounds like you might have two different issues. first thing I would do is clean it up really good and open it up to see how everything looks. if you have to have the choke out it tells me you are not getting enough gas for all the air that is coming in ie too lean. could be an adjustment. could be the pcv valve as well, i don't remember off the top of my head the symptoms when it isn't working right but you could look that up as well. hope that helps. as always let us know what you find so the next guy reading comments might get some help....
