Picture myself like that one scene where Thanos goes to rest and watch the sunrise after the snap EDIT: Oh crap the dasli killed my grandma bit made a bunch of the pop SFX desynced at the end LMAO I'M SORRY I THOUGHT I REVIEWED THAT okay please just ignore that
@@MilolaidusCounter surge does nothing to Dasli because she is surge immune. Every counter surge enemy is also already wrecked by Dasli as itself since Dasli still deals full damage to them. If you want to avoid your other cats from getting blasted by counter surge, you can use the wide array of anti surge units we have that are all enough to get through every counter surge based stage in the game as of right now.
@@XskullDrSkull Yep, that was kinda my point, i should have been more explicit. Ponos is trying there absolute best to counter Dasli with surge immune, countersurge and now even a curse immune baron and they still fail. Honestly i don't know why they don't just nerf op units like any other game...
There is a sort of irony to all of this. Mitama, the chosen servant of Cat God himself being blessed with a fun yet balanced kit making her seen as the best of the best, and making her loved by all, as if she was a gift of the gods. while Kasli, being shunned from the dark and cruel society she was born in due to her curse. She grew up in a world that despised her, and because she never received the love, kindness and peace she deserved she let her hatred take over, giving her a unbalanced game breaking and brainless kit that led to everyone hating her, all because she became the monster they all said she would be.
I personally find Battle Cats to be becoming too easy nowadays and units like this being introduced is definitely one of the biggest reasons why I feel that way. Strategy is put second to scale, gameplay and stats have devolved to “big number vs big number” game. I know this was starting to become a problem years ago, but stage strategy has become more linearized/ formulated by using X cat to counter X enemy, especially when we’re at a point where everything in the game is powercrept and every type of stage archetype has been exhausted from the years this game has been around. Dasli was definitely the start of when this game shifted in its design philosophy. The standard for both stages and cats have grown in power almost exponentially which has created more unhealthy units like Uril true form and ultra forms. It just feels too much in a game that wants to be more simple.
Also let me point out the unhealthy amount of copy and pasted enemies that were put in this game. I'm not going after the doges, since they were built as a tutorial to counter those specific traits, but the behemoth enemies who were usually retextured (besides some of the behemoths like ariant and luza) ended up being either too hard or too ridiculous weak to fight (ex. Behemoth chick fil a, Relic iguana). Yet dark kasli would still be able to destroy them with the best possible lineup if there weren't any restrictions. Then we got sage enemies that were literally just retextured and updates were so frequent because of this, and dark kasli could still counter them too. If ponos really wants to make future enemies difficult, they have to meet the standards for end game players, which includes making the enemies built for end game.
Do you think that this happens because of the differences between JP and Global mindset? I feel like it's only us who whines about the game balance or shit while the JP players straight up embracing the brokenness. They always use anything that's broken. They have no problem with Ultra Talents or Ultra Form. And there is also cases where they just boost their Ubers to +69 simply because they want and can. I even watched someone spent 10k CatFood for Dasli. JP Players generate easy money and naturally PONOS will design their units that will satisfy them.
I think that's partially it yeah. I was actually wondering too if maybe ZL is super easy because PONOS tries to accommodate for EN's no uber playstyle while also giving in to the brokenness that JP players want in modern units, creating this messed up balance where units are too strong but stages are too easy
@@LucasIVYT Yep, i think when you are as lategame as ZL, stages should be balanced around ubers and doing them no uber should just be a challenge. Like, who the fuck don't have a shit ton of ubers at this point anyway ? But some toptiers ubers and ultraforms are just too broken, especialy at lvl 60. I think the problem it that they are trying to make some 3 crowns UL stages manageable too. And 3 crowns UL is FAAAR harder than ZL.
@@Original_Flesh_Panopticon late starred ul will probably be worse besides a whole new world and adherence to virtue a 3* adherence to virtue would maybe be impossible
@@LucasIVYT Holy I never thought of that. I always see JP players having such ridiculous boosts on units and that makes perfect sense. The game is already in the dumpster when it comes to uber balance so just abuse that uber balance as much as you can. Something PONOS can do I feel is probably rework either 2* or 3* to ban ubers so that way people who use ubers need to play the game in a more strategic way (even then we now have broken non uber units like Uril, Naala, Doron, etc.), and if not that, then just give in and balance stages around ubers (they're already doing that with every new UF released.) especially since I've noticed a shift in which now EN players are giving in more to the ubercarry mentality so it wouldn't be that bad to do whilst giving non uber players the challenge they desire.
To put in perspective, I personally don't have Dasli, but I do have Blue Eye'd Asuka, which is basically a dasli with worse stats, less curse uptime, different immunities and colossus slayer, and she still absolutely wipes most stages. Completely worth the wait for this. You always explain these so well, Lucas.
Lucas, I'm truly enjoying this shit. Love the format, the narrative, the niche of being a Battle Cats historian of sorts... you probably can't cook many more videos with this format, but I'm sure every single one of them is going to be this good of a delight!!
"First we need to talk about parallel universes" genuinely scared me, I thought I was going on another 6-hour long study session on battle cats quantum physics 😭
It's honestly relieving to hear that a ton of players miss the strategy aspect of the game like me. I didn't really care much for dasli as there was still cool content on the side to play and discuss. It feels like battle cats has turned into this game of "own as many powerful units as you can" and there's nothing wrong with that, it first made me believe we were going to get more crazy and interesting stages. But when they release a spammable unit with the waterblast ability and the best they can manage is your average metal seal level and legit only metal cyclone and puffington that can be beaten by talented lolly alone if you want to. That's where I truly lost hope.
Seeing my friend breeze through floor 30 with Dkasli without even realizing it was a special stage made me genuinely sad. I remember spending all night trying to best that stage and near the end my heart rate would spike but I would have to keep focus because one simple mistake could end me. Now it’s just Dkasli go brrr
Being a Fate/Grand Order player she seems kind of similar to Artoria Caster (from now on referred to as Castoria), with the only difference being that Castoria is a "defensive" support unit. In FGO you kind of have 3 different "levels" of defensive invulnerability and pierce buffs, with Evasion being pierced by Sure Hit, and Invulnerable being pierced by Pierce Invulnerable (which also pierces Evasion). Castoria is the only unit in the entire game who can give the team "Anti-purge Defense" which is completely and absolutely unpierceable. This led to a team archetype called "Immortal Comp" which consists of Castoria (mandatory), secondary gauge support (Merlin, Lady Avalon, Miyu), and Overcharge support (Himiko, Reines, Morgan) The idea is that Castoria's Anti-purge Defense gives you one hit of invulnerability per level of Overcharge on her Noble Phantasm (super attack), up to 5 hits to each party member over 3 turns at Overcharge level 5. With the extra gauge generated per turn from the gauge support, you can get enough charge to use every team member's Noble Phantasm in a chain every three turns, which leaves you with at least level 4 Overcharge, 5 if you're using Himiko. When the enemy at most gets to attack three times per turn and most of the time attacks only one target, that leaves you with an overall of *_15_* potential hits of unpierceable invincibility over 9 attacks from the enemy, which is refreshed every three turns. This team setup can beat every single fight in the game that doesn't have excessive buff removal, without taking _any form of damage throughout the whole thing._ And any damage you _do_ end up taking is going to be healed away by your gauge support, since all of them _are primarily healers._ You can't even get stopped by debuffs or buff block because Castoria's Noble Phantasm is also a full debuff cleanse for the team. The only drawback is that you're using three supports, and thus you're dealing relatively low damage (unless you swap Himiko for Morgan who gives overall 4 hits of invul per ally in exchange for being an actual DPS) so the battle will last for quite a while. She's pretty unanimously agreed upon to be the absolute strongest unit in FGO and the developers' biggest mistake from a gameplay standpoint. And that's not even mentioning what her skills do. To put it into perspective: The Immortal Comp I just talked about will usually finish a difficult quest in about 40-50 turns. The average clear time of most quests when you use your own Castoria, a friend's Castoria, and a DPS... Is about 3-4 turns. _Maybe_ 10 for super difficult quests.
Yeah and the game also tries to "balance" so many future challenge fights by having buff removals enemies, etc just because how broken she is and ps. she still broke those fights too
Amazing video man! I completely agree with you. The main reason of why I hate her is, as you mentioned in the video, the fact that she outclasses 90% of ubers and gives little to no spotlight to slightly under average units. I also thought you were going to mention Asukasli, she may not be as strong as Dasli but she still is a problem. Her similar DPS, basically doubles the damage and skips the part of staking multiple Dasli at the beginning of a stage. BUT WAIT FOR PAPALUGA'S TALENT HELL YEAH MAN CAN'T WAIT FOR HIM TO RECIVE LV. 69 SURGE AND 100% DODGE AGAINST EVERY ENEMY (he is probably going to get KB resist and 2s slow)
Could not agree more lol. Just finished IDI, and the first problem with that is that I used esoteric uril (gained via dasli). I already broke my progression, and there's no way to go back. Then when I start UL again, I find my self using dasli for everything. Even puffington, which Idi was supposed to counter. When you asked what Ubers I use besides dasli, it's kinda just the top 4 best, and windy. Dasli broken but I like watching enemies die
I mean, people get Idi in the wildest of times, you can straight go for her after beating Relic Bun Bun or wait till you beat Luza to get her. I see the latter more often since starred SOL is one of the most boring things to do in the game and I can't blame people for delaying Idi for that even if it's getting Luza and Uril before her.
The vid actually explained why dasli is broken really well! I always know why dasli is broken because of her stats but in never got the full explaination for it. This is a really good vid!
The biggest problem with dasli is what she started. When you make a unit like her, so strong, all other units have to match her in power as well otherwise they become obsolete.
Just finished the video and this is probably one of your best videos yet. Personally I don’t use Dasli that much because she’s really boring and I have a lot more fun options but my main gripe is how she’s probably one of the main ubers that discourage NP/Dark eye investment into other Ubers because they won’t be as good as her or other top tiers. The gap between decent/solid/balanced Ubers and borderline broken niche or broken in general is significantly bigger now.
That is the main flaw of UTs/UFs in general especially with how scarce dark catseyes are in general. Why should I invest 1000 NP to make my Anubis a powerful generalist with great anti aku abilities when I can just dump those Dcatseyes into Dasli + save 1000 NP. UFs have less of that problem but it's still a problem since why should I invest 15 dark catseyes into Dioramos or Gigapult when Dasli just does what they do? No UT/UF unit can come close to the power of the SS tier units which means you're basically only getting them since you don't have the SS tier units, or you like the unit and want to see it shine.
-is that manic eraser placed before eraser in the unit lineup eww- For some reason, I really like the nerdy discussion/analysis videos - they are always very entertaining, even though I sometimes already know about the topic being discussed I started to play BC at around December 2019, so I was in the perfect place to witness the sheer destruction Dasli brought on the uber meta. It is quite saddening to see how she singlehandedly invalidated most of the uber roster, not letting unique and interesting units have their chance to shine. Remember that stream where someone suggested that *Amaterasu* was in need of Ultra Form/Talents? Obviously that is an outrageous thing to claim, but I think I know why that person made such a claim - it is probably because they use Dasli so often that they rarely ever use any other uber, thus not knowing how truly overpowered Amaterasu is. I actually have a theory behind part of the reason why PONOS made Dasli so overpowered - they didn't know what they were doing. Let's look at another outrageously powerful unit: Courier Cat. Courier was one of the first units to receive Behemoth Slayer. At the time, the only thing remotely similar to Behemoth Slayer was EVA/Witch Killer, abilities which did not have the slightest bit of balancing due to being mainly uber-specific abilities intentionally designed to absolutely destroy their respective targets. Thus, PONOS had no idea how to balance Behemoth Slayer's multipliers - so they made it much, much more powerful than Strong, Massive or even Insane Damage. Big mistake. Ahirujo gets absolutely wiped off the plane of existence, and you know the rest of the story. A similar thing likely happened with Dasli - she was the first to receive Surge Immune and Curse (for cat units), so PONOS had no idea how overpowered those abilities truly were. (How did they not catch that during playtesting, you may ask? When Dasli was first unleashed on this world, someone {might have been Xskull, not sure?} saw Dasli and said that she was a bit less powerful than Kasli. If even the community did not initially recognize how truly overpowered she was, there was no way that a company as incompetent as PONOS {shows photographic evidence of the hundreds of spelling mistakes in Battle Cats} would be able to catch it. Tangent over.) Yes yes, those are obviously not the only reasons she is broken beyond belief, but it is one of the reasons I can think of. That combined with being fortunate enough to receive absolutely busted stats created a perfect cocktail for hell.
Dasli is really bad and should be removed. Until i get her that is. If that happens, then shes an amazing balanced unit that should be buffed even more
I have Dasli and she saved me tons of time making line ups and she just straight up brute force through stages like it's nothing. However, after I watched some of your gameplay vids and spent some time helping my friend beat some hard stages I realized how bad I was without Dasli and she made the game way less fun for me. So, I started to try to not use her in every stage, used my other ubers, and actually learned how to strategize, the game has been more fun since. I still use her to brute force easy event stages and speedrun farm stages though, or else I'll just procrastinate to farm anything and just put her in my every line ups again. Also, this video is amazing, you explained everything so well and the humor on top of that is just chef kiss, I knew Dasli was strong because of her high stat but I didn't know much more than that haha, truly an eye-opener.
Amazing video man As many and you already said, Dasli isn't exactly the main problem. The game was already turning into "big stats vs big stats" and it was just snowballing more and more with every update. Dasli just junda marks a point of no return It's a massive issue and honestly it cant really be fixed sadly (nerfs and balance changes, if anything, would just hurt the game more), but it can be compensated if Ponos would make some insane bold risks more often which will completely shake up the meta. They could an insanely hard advent with a new ability like Kappy Junior on release, they could make enemies summon other enemies or do poison damage overtime or heal or buff enemies around or literally anything. I really love battle cats with all my heart but this game really needs some big changes rn
I was really hoping the conjure ability would be that massive change which will shake up the meta but sadly as of right now all spirit abilities are the exactly same except with different debuffs. I REALLY hope Ponos would explore this whole "one-time-use ability" concept a lot more
51:47 this is the problem with Dasli and what I believe is the only problem about her, when it comes to a point where a unit invalidates literally 70% of this game's gacha content I can understand why it's hated, it's also the problem that many other cats face such as Courier for literally being god, best anti-behemoth best anti-red one of the best "mid-range" rare cats and how it literally murders early game. I think at one point people hated Octo too because of how he invalidated actually challenging and somewhat fun wave stages but PONOS adapted to it by changing wave stages design. with that being said, I disagree on the "pay to get" point because it's genuinely easy to get any Uber you want in this game, you get Platinum ticket in CotC 3, Aku Realms and after every clear of a full SOL/UL story, not to mention the Gauntlet stages. If you "want" Dasli, you aren't gonna spend money on the silly cat game, you're gonna get down, grind Platinum Ticket (I'm aware it can be bought, I want to explain how to get her without paying) and use seed tracking for this opportunity. Ultimately it does bash into another one of your points, people grinding to exclusively get Dasli and steamroll the game, therefore going back into the criticism, at least it's not early game amirite? :p I'm aware you could count seed tracking as cheating, that is the whole reason why I try and stir away from it, this is a gacha game so... **GAMBLE**. Like others said, I think it's fine to seedtrack once you're very into the game, 5 or 6 months or just as soon as the endless gambling gets tiring, me personally I'm just gonna suffer and try and get her from Epicfest. also if you hate Dasli because "invalidates literally anything that is in a similar class as her" I'd say that Phonoa is in the same boat if not worse, strongest sniper uber in the game with one or two enemies that effectively counter him and appear often enough to do their jobs, having one single flaw that being traitless, I'd argue Phono is even more annoying because there is no real way of countering the guy, he doesn't rely on anything but stats and LD (nice one PONOS, can't wait for you to release the 900 range ZL boss next update to counter phonoa). even after this long ah comment, I don't want to give off the wrong idea. I agree with most you said in this video. 56:08 "special grade curse-" Jujutsu Kaisen in Battle Cats?!?!?11?
I have played multiple gacha games before and in all of them my experience was hell, so for me seed tracking is for everyone at every point in the game, and its not like i really care for the *surprise* or something like that since i had this surprise only 2 times, and for me, just knowing im gonna get the good uber already makes me 5x happier than getting him by surprise lol
Eh wouldn't say Phono is worse than Dasli in invalidating certain units. While Phono is still a stupidly overtuned unit that is arguably even more braindead than Dasli, he has actual sort of detrimental weaknesses that you mentioned that can give a chance for other snipers to shine. Other powerful snipers like Daliasan and Aphrodite I've found uses for over Phono mainly due to those weaknesses. Meanwhile Dasli rarely ever gives chances for units to shine, maybe TF Uril on certain aku/relic stages, but it's a case of where Uril performs like 1% better than Dasli (Mainly due to the addition of slow.) whilst other snipers can actually do well on stages Phono struggles against.
@@Flont40 They both suck game balance wise, Phono is broken for 90% and so is Dasli. I really dislike how powerful these ubers are as they turn the game into 'click the light blue furry/black and blue woman button and win the stage!' And this I think is also part of a bigger problem with the games gacha system as with it you have control over when a person gets dasli. If dasli was a legend unit at you could design the game around her so she's more fair rather than instant win button
I left Battle Cats probably around a year ago because I just didn't wanna wait to grind stones. But somewhat recently, I got hooked on Arknights (This is why I am commenting under my AK youtube channel and not my main). Existing in your discord server purely for the emotes, it would be somewhat safe to assume you are also somewhat familiar with Arknights. Arknights has, *the exact same fucking issue*. A good chunk of recently released meta 6-star operators that trivialize the game. This leads to players becoming over-reliant on this powercrept meta, which leads to them not having the proper skills to deal with harder content that these busted 6-stars don't trivialize (like Dasli). This also leads to a very negative and binary judgment when it comes to Arknights. An operator is either "good" or "bad", there is very rarely nuance on the discussion on how an operator can be used. And frankly, due to the higher player interaction within a stage of Arknights compared to Battle Cats, there is a lot more room for players to make less powerful operators much better, just due to player skill. Pretty much everything you said in this video can apply to operators like Mlynar, Eyja alter, or Ch'en the Holungday. Operators that don't promote creative play and break general game balance, leading people into a very simplistic metagamey mindset. Most gacha games probably just *don't* have this issue since they had braindead powercreep from the start. But when you have a genuinely good gacha game, a single hint of imbalance can completely throw off what good was going for it. Now all of a sudden, the game is no longer about strategy and is now about grinding until you have Dasli and then using Dasli because some youtuber or reddit tier list told you to do so. I'm probably on the side of the "I like game design, so its cringe to see a decently balanced game just be ruined". Back when I played Battle Cats I would rarely use ubers, and if I did, it would be either because I just find the unit fun, like Kai, or because I am stuck on a stage and don't wanna deal with its BS. Or I'm doing a farming stage and want to get it done asap. I enjoyed the strategy and micromanagement of Battle Cats, and its the same appeal for Arknights, which is why I find powercreep all the worse. It creates a community of players that is no different from every other gacha game (yes I know sharing a playerbase with braindead gacha games is unavoidable but I'm sure you get the general point). Discussion is no longer about strategy but about relevance and meta, which is disappointing, because now the playerbase is less focused on individual growth and triumph, and more focused on a collectivist mindset of appealing to an objectively correct way of play. Of course though, this isn't everyone in said community, there are loads of players in AK, and I'm sure BC too that just despise the idea of being forced to play around the metagame. I'm more talking about the general playerbase at large here. tl;dr THE THING YOU SAID APPLIES TO THE THING I LIKE TOO!!!!!! THIS IS EPIC GAMER STYLE!!!!
I've been playing gacha games for a decade almost and it seems like this thing always happens at some point as for some reason gacha devs are scared of doing balance patches like *literally* every other game does. FGO became a broken unbalanced mess after Castoria, Arknights did it with Texalter, HSR with Jingliu, BC with Dasli, etc etc. At this point I just stay as far away from gacha game talks as possible 'cause I already know that it is basically impossible for it to not have a meta-slave mentality and have to restrict myself from ever using meta units as they are bound to make me enjoy the game less (my pot 2 Yato Alter has been gathering dust for months now and I'm not gonna change that).
51:30 Actually kinda true. I do use the melee units and specialists (especially Anti-Zombie, and Izanagi is also great at trivializing specific enemies [Izanagi is insane at trivializing certain stages btw. He can bloody break UltraBaaBaa Barrier]. And obviously anti-metal) as mentioned, but also debuffers. Also Surge Immune enemies don't counter Dasli when only a few enemies in the stage are Surge Immune, since Dasli just kills everything else. It's like having Massive Damage against non-Surge-Immune enemies
I have literally drawn her 6 times. I have no fucking clue how. I don't really use her unless I just wanna breeze through stages for the reward rather than actually play them. I used to be a "just use dasli" kinda guy, but I've genuinely enjoyed the game so much more after I stopped using her for everything. I got really burnt out from the game, and your returner mode series not only got me back into the game, but got me to try and be more creative with what units I use and I've had a lot more fun, so thanks. I don't really hate dasli like you do though, I still think she's pretty cool, but I do understand where you're coming from.
I love dasli(I have her) I got her with ten tickets when people were still saying she was mid and I almost sold her for np. I am so glad I didn't do that
Same dude i pulled her from a random plat ticket when people thought she wasnt even all that good and were still confused abt the curse I almost sold her for xp, glad i didnt but part of me wishes i had too
Missed opportunity for you to use the level 1 dasli it would have been hilarious for you to rant about how broken she is while getting sniped in the background lmao Still great video proving how boring it is to ALWAYS USE HER.
I remember, I got Dasli very early on. Like I had completed the first EoC and ITF and was towards the end of SoL 1 Star. Back then I had few Ubers but still had some good ones like Catman and Jizo. As I used her, I realized how absurdly broken she was, my feeling of having fun quickly turned into a feeling of doing a chore where you send out Dasli and just spam meat shields nonstop. For me it cumulated in the stage, Swim Meet in SoL which contains only aliens. At first I tried it out with Catman and was excited to use him after a long while but I lost due to Catman missing a bunch and my meat shields being weak. Then obviously, Dasli steamrolled the stage. I thought to my self this is stupid. She is literally better then the unit with 4 times damage vs Aliens So I decided to put a 'Dasli Ban to actually enjoy my experience playing the game. That was a bit ago and now I have almost completed UL 4 Crown and I barely used Dasli after that. But tbh I like Dasli. She is that unit that is like a cheat code. There is a satisfying feeling of destroying a stage with her after you try and couldn't beat it whatsoever. I remember using to beat downright unfair stages like Jagando Invasion without Cactus and 3 Star Kuala Lum Pool. She literally breaks the stage design with Curse and her immunities for particularly annoying stages. She is like the final card in your deck that you send out when shit hits the fan. I like a character like this in Video games. A great analogy is Alien X from Ben 10 for her if you have seen that show. But honestly, Dasli doesn't even seem like the be all end all of the game anymore. Another unit I got much later on was White Phono which also I decided to ban for same reason as Dasli. Those two units were the only two I still don't use but there are a lot of units that deserve the same treatment. The game has truly undergone monstrous power creep. There are Level 60 Ultra Forms and Ultra Talents, Balrog and Dark Phono that similarly breaks stages, Boosted gacha Rares and Super Rares that also similarly to Dasli outperform specialists, specialized meat shields for almost every trait, Uril True Form, not to mention the UL Legends true forms which have legitimately made Relics a free trait. Nobody talks about it anymore but Relics are lowkey the most powercrept trait in the entire game. The absurd combo Ubers which further boost your boosted Gacha units. Amongst all this Dasli doesn't even seem that special anymore. Don't get me wrong, she is still game breaking but honestly she isn't the only one doing that anymore. It really feels like our cats have gotten too strong and the enemies are the ones not able to keep up anymore.
You're right she is not balanced. Phonos shuld give her true form with wave atack, counter surge, strong against, insane damage, base destroyer, critical atack, insanely tough, warp , freze , extra money, doge , metal, sage slayer, colosus slayer and behemoth slayer. Sureley this will help
as someone who got dasli legit and used her loads I have to say, she is waay too strong and i became over reliant on her and the game became really stale but your returner mode opened my eyes and I haven't used dasli in months and the game is sooo much more fun using not the best and using like b or c tier units and this video, my god , it was amazing, all points I agree with and I've been playing the game for like 8 years at this point on and off and I think this video needed to be made because we need the next chapter of battle cats to be like the old days and be more fun :D
I just got Dasli, but this video has certainly made me feel something else, ill still use her. But ill give the other ubers a chance to shine through alongside her, the same with my og kasli and my og gao, they wont be a sole force, they'll have to work together. Thanks for this food for thought.
As a player who owns Dasli, she’s extremely powerful and the reasons as to why are her high stats for her role and other details, which you have clearly explained. Although I got Dasli like at mid-late SOL, I managed to develop skills and also use other, good non-gacha units or other Ubers. Overall, to challenge myself, I use Dasli as a last resort. Good video btw!
Honestly this video is great, the rant about dasli is nothing new to me so I knew most of the stuff that makes her broken but seeing a mi I timeline of the games story is so fun, idk about other people but I enjoyed the first half of the video a lot. About dasli: tbh the reason I dislike her is has less to do with how it affects the game and more so how it affects the player base, unlike some other broken units you mentioned like mitama, yukimura and even balrog, you still need to think on how and when to use them, like mitama and her LD, or balrog and his single target, and yukimura with his suicidal rush, they break the tale but you still need to think in order to profit from their pros, but dasli has so little real downsides to her that you just have to send her out and you usually will win, leaving people so many people with the “how do I do this stage? It’s impossible my dasli can’t do anything here!” and with how crucial the start is to the rest of the game, they just don’t learn well many of the mechanics or level up important units because they can just send out dasli and win, and that makes the game so fucking unhealthy in my opinion. (Of course she also ruins game balancing a lot by leaving a lot of Ubers in the dust, tho late game balance is broken even without her so that’s PONOS fault imo)
As an *older* player, I loved your Abe Simpson 'old man yells at Dasli' 😂 Great video, spot on with all points. I got Dasli shortly after finishing SOL and I feel like she made UL a breeze. Although it was a nice reprieve from a long time of struggling! So basically I'm glad I got her ❤
I got dasli when I used my first platinum ticket ever (from anniversary rewards), and immediately used her in everything, carrying me through SOL. But then I realized I had a lot more fun when i wasn't using her, and instead using a single obscure uber per stage (sodom my beloved). I got very lucky with getting her but I almost see it as a curse now (get it). I have a free win button now and whether I use it or not I feel like I'm doing something wrong. All of my friend use pull trackers to get broken units, a couple getting dasli, and the reason I convince them not to do it is just this. Running through UL has been so fun trying to find stages where I instead use a specific niche uber or strategy.
I'm a casual player that got dasli randomly. I used her and did notice her strengths, but it didn't really change much. I still have other units I use, and dont actually use her as much as others. I actually have D'arktanyan, use him and like him more. All that to say that I understand the take in this video, but personally believe it just isn't that deep. It didn't effect how I played the game as a casual player thats been playing for years. I still have difficulty with plenty of stages as well. It never made anything ridiculously easy or made the game trivial, it's still difficult and entertaining. I don't think having something a bit op , especially in a single player game, is even a bad thing. It actually makes the game a bit more fun at times. Love the video still, and appreciate you sharing your take on all of this, it's a great analysis and deep dive on everything!
55:20 Absolutely correct! The player should be able to choose how they want to have fun. Some find it interesting to make intricate strategies with the bit of scraps they have while others love to steamroll literally everything, and both of those are okay. It's YOUR account, you choose and dictate what you believe to be fun and how you play the game. There's nothing wrong with playing with the "META", everyone wants to win, but it's also not wrong to branch off of that META and instead creating innovative approaches to different stages. A bit of a stretch, but I believe you could also apply this philosophy in regards to seed tracking. Seed tracking is widely recognized as cheating, which is fair. It's feels more on like, a much more "lowkey" level of cheating, because you still are sacrficing for it regardless, and I've come to recognize it more as a seperate way of playing the game. People like to be able to plan out what they get, and while it removes the "gacha" aspect of the game, it allows a more consistent way of progression, while the "vanilla" approach leans more to the thrill of luck (I LOVE GAMBLING!!!!). Though obviously there's a lot more to seed tracking than that. Regardless, the point is that, everyone should be allowed to "have fun" the way they want to. Terms "ubercarried" and "meta-slave" as insults is bad practice, especially for THIS game of all things. Like, it's literally asingle player game, you aren't affected if someone else uses Dasli, yet people still get targetted and berated for doing so. It's petty and unhealthy, and achieves literally nothing.
I just remember watching Mattshea use Dasli on Malevolent Fish and suffer horribly, only to win on the very first attempt after he takes her out of his lineup\ If we get more stage design like that with Gokurakku having Counter Surge and showing up quite a bit in ZL, we might be seeing a return to strategy somewhat (ignoring the existence of the Socrates Bossfight in the current state of anti-sage of course)
"How much do you use other ubers for actual intended porpouses aside from just testing them at all?" Many. Although I'm a D.Kasli owner and user, either I'm in a perpetual state of skill issue or just RNG screwing me with her position. I can't always use her because MANY stages either always have: 1- An enemy that outranges her 2- The stage itself not having easily achievable cash (looking at you mixed stages with zombie units in it) Examples of others I use are Sakura Miku and Volta in Alien stages, Kaihimi and Yukimura for Black stages, Windy for Floating, Lufalan Pasalan when I get the chance... The problem isn't JUST that other units suck compared to her, but that stages don't permit the usage of other units because of the points I mentioned above. I don't even use her that much because I still fail a stage with or without her (Electric Diva Strikes! 18th song and Snow Miku 2nd crown for example), and both ways I get the same sarcastic answer "Just use D.Kasli, skill issue lols. Just level your cats lmao". SoL is extremely boring to progress because of how the game was built on being slow, I also got stuck many times AND without mentioning the trolling/gimmick stages (Haha, funny Assassin Bear spam xd). The latest stage I'm stuck on is an Alien units spam that I couldn't even beat with the units I usually use above (alongside other S, R and SR anti-alien and meatshields). Why? Stuff that outranges everything. Mind you that yes, I have ALL Superior Treasures, all of Cosmos included. Just to repeat myself, this ain't all JUST about D.Kasli being better than other units, but overall how stages are made.
I feel like the only banners that doesn't have their usage completely obliterated by Dasli are the iron legions and nekolugas, thanks to iron legions countering zombies, which are relatively harder to counter, and the nekolugas having godlike range and being more based on strong support. Zombies being hard to counter by dasli is also one of the reasons they're my favorite trait lol.
The main problem with the lugas in general is that apart from Tecoluga, Balaluga, and Asiluga is that they just all are mid at best. It's to a point where the high range of these units doesn't matter especially due to their bulk and vulnerabilities to things like surge and waves. Also zombies are my favourite trait in the game, but instead it's just due to how differently they play from other traits but in a fun and genius way with the burrow and revive abilities they have. Zombies are still a hard trait even with Shigong, Chadbear and especially Holy Blast which I find amazing.
Extremely well put and a very interesting look into how power creep can really sour a game, I personally feel that when numbers start getting bigger and bigger, the games start to become just that, a numbers game, of course it's much more complicated than that, but another game I feel has had the same "issue" is Monster Hunter, where before positioning and knowing the blind spots of the monsters was key, nowadays it's more about countering and not getting hit at all, which makes the game completely different and far from what made it click for me in the first place. I still love Battle Cats, but I do not use Dasli unless I'm completely stuck in a stage.
Worst part is that PONOS has noticed this surge (ha ha) of powercreep happening on the meta of Battle Cats and have been trying to deal with it. They've added a good chunk of surge immune enemies, but not enough to entirely invalidate Dasli. Then later they added Counter Surge in which we know how that turned out. All the recent solutions they've had to recent powercreep has failed spectacularly especially since back then they were able to give the best ubers in the game some sort of weakness even if it needed to be added in. (Jizo for example was tuning stage design to where it's less peon spam based and more few big threats based which is a philosophy Jizo is way less powerful against and Mitama with Relics that can shutdown her slow with curse, ofc only Loris and Golem Sunfish really succeed in doing this but point still stands.)
To me it's insane that even after all these years and new other broken units like Phono, Dphono, Level 60 Balrog, and now Izanagi Dasli still remains no1. Dasli just has every tool you'd want in a backliner really. High bulk, high damage, a CC (curse, and yes Dasli's curse is actually useful, there are so many stages Dasli shuts down primarily due to her curse.), and works against 95% of enemies in the game with her only struggling against surge immune enemies in which she can still at least perform against them. She destroys more traits better than Izanagi and Phono ever could (the 2nd and 3rd best units in my testing respectively) and has a surge that allows her to juggle enemies around. Once people figured out how busted surge really was, her placement went from like maybe top 3 to instantly no1 with no ubers able to get back that no1 spot till Phono which ended up still being 1% worse than Dasli lmao. Hell her damage output when boosted by Dcatseyes allows her to brute force 95% of 3* UL stages so that comparison of Mitama potentially being better in select 3* stages is just wrong, and Mitama has vulnerabilities to surge, Loris, and Traitless which combined makes her struggle on a surprising amount of 3* UL. I think Epicfest was always gonna need to shift the power level of the exclusive units on there especially recently since PONOS has been giving more anti traitless options both non Epicfest uber and non uber in general. (Cop Cat, Hitman, Jagando, Issun Boshi, and Snow Miku are the ones off the top of my head.), but the main problem is that it comes to a point where they outclass their Uberfest counterparts. Dasli is the obvious example somehow being the damage dealer between her and Kasli whilst having an insane CC, but Iz the Dancer of Grief and DPhono both are arguably more versatile than their Uberfest counterparts with being focused more on utility than damage in which there are less of. Ofc they went back on that design philosophy after how broken Dphono and Dasli ended up with Izanami vs Izanagi, but now people really don't like Izanami due to having 0 non traitless niche over Izanagi to the point people say she's "mid" (overexaggeration, but yeah even Dark Garu and Nobiluga outdps her). Epicfest is kind of in an awkward position right now where they can either focus on traitless which makes them worse than Uberfest units unless your name is Darkt, or they can be more support orientated which makes them better than Uberfest units unless your name is Phono. As someone with Dasli in their main save and a Dasli rotting away in their alt (I don't want to trivialize the game ffs.), the thing that pushes Dasli over the edge for me is her curse, ofc it's not a trademark ability for her, but it allows her to trivialize stages to the point of being braindead. Henry is freezing all your units? Just use Dasli! Winged Pigge is weakening all your units? Just use Dasli! This stupid mole is KBing all your units? Just use Dasli! Woah there's a Star Peng in the stage and I don't want to use Catellite? Just use Dasli! Gobble is being a POS and hiding away while doing toxic damage? Just use Dasli to make him one of the most worthless enemies in the game! It's ridiculous how insane that curse helps on CC stages. Something I wished you talked about more instead of just casually mentioning is her bulk. At level 30 she has 78k HP. If we level 50 scale that it's GODDAMN 124K HP WITH 5 KBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This means that even the enemies do reach Dasli, her bulk is gonna let her live for such a long time even in starred UL she often uses all her KBs due to just how goddamn bulky she is. If she was more frail then that'd be honestly a good balancing factor. (It's like slapping the goddamn Terminator, but it's something.) However, now that she has bulk, she can now even deal with high range no blindspot enemies well with an example being P souls with her bulk allowing her to tank Dogumaru even in 3* which is just insane especially since she outranges all other enemies in that stage and your win condition is to just murder a mooth so you can send out Dasli. To me, the main problem with Dasli is what you said, there's so many cool ubers in the game that can shine and succeed in so many stages, but compared to units like Dasli, Balrog, Izanagi, Duals Phonos, they just can't compete with and thus will be underrated by the community. Since I'm someone with Dasli and pretty much all those units, I barely use anything else apart from like I notice this unit has a specific niche that can destroy the stage just as well as Dasli. Worst part is PONOS can't even nerf Dasli since 1. People will be upset and more importantly 2. Gacha laws don't allow them to nerf her anyways (Even if this game is not technically a gacha game due to a set seed.), so they have to be more creative in how they nerf her like surge immune and counter surge both of which failed. I agree Dasli has destroyed a big chunk of the game's balance and difficulty for people who have her and unless PONOS decides to do something like "All units are allowed except Dasli! Trololololololololol!" It most likely will stay that way.
I really like these types of videos going through sets of units, their both entertaining and informative as a new playing in telling me which situations to use specific units in.
As a Dasli user, even though I have dasli I try my hardest to not only use her for everything, I try to use all my ubers and units, I love having a God of death on my side but I also love using crazy strategies to beat stages, so I totally agree with all the points you made, amazing vid lucas :>
dasli really became the gojo of battle cats, where they started inventing new abilities and subtraits just to specifically counter her. (And it still failing)
@@Ex0tic404 Major cap. Gojo was always strong up until he drew his last breath. The only unit even on the same level as dasli is phonoa (who's arguably even better.) and he might as well be what sukuna was to gojo.
@@The_Andromeda_Galaxy By saying she would get nerfed, I was referencing Gojo's death, and I didn't say removed because they obviously wouldn't do that. I had no intentions of calling Gojo weak. But yeah, i couldn't word it correctly in the first reply. But i'll keep it there just so that if anyone sees this argument, they know what we argued about.
@@Ex0tic404 nerf is unlikely though. Can't remember the last time Ponos nerfed a unit, and its especially unlikely when it's an epicfest exclusive which is already extremely rare to begin with. Especially with how long it's been already. Despite popular belief here, dasli isn't actually a hated unit by most and a nerf wouldn't be well received, the JP community would dislike it even more.
The whole "not using other ubers" kinda extends to phonoa and phono too. Majority of enemies are not backliners, and 600± range is far enough from the front where even a razorback push can be grinded to dust WITHOUT bomber. The only times I switch them out is when restrictions exist or when I need a diffrent strategy, where range is not an option (example: Okame. I tried my old reliable kit, including dual phono, it did not work. Won only when I replaced them with anti red and black tankers/meatshields, Yukimura and combo units.). I am atleast happy I got phonoa during UL and phono after aku realms a week ago, because it still took me a lot of planing to get to that point. Edit: I am switching off the phono² to use other units I abandoned, like ganesha, amaterasu, Maglev and more. Currently pretty fun.
Personally as the Kasli simp I hate dasli because she outshines the original form by just killing everything on sight, while it's more fun to see all the enemies get pushed back behind the base or have the chance to do so, it's not guaranteed which is what makes it more exciting and satisfying Great video, I'm on your side to ride on the dasli hate train
Lucas, your sfx for appearing images sounded too early here, plz fix thx 54:30 (happened in two instances) Also, regarding your question for Dasli users... it is true. I use Dasli in almost every stage, with the other ubers being combo slaves like Kunio, Riki, and Aethur Ltd. There is another thing, which is that I also use anti-zombie ubers in zombie stages. Although this, like other supposed "weaknesses" doesn't really make it a weakness for her, since the point is that she trivialized too many stages like you said. Anyway, it was fun watching you slowly descend into madness and despair as you inched toward explaining the boogeycatgirl, lol out loud.
my main problem with dasli is because of the stupid ponos mentality of instead of balancing their uints, they just make the game harder. like, there are a lot of enemies that dont need surge immunity at all, but have it just to "counter dasli". Man they even made the counter surge, while there is no wave block or wave reflect for enemies or something
And if a broken unit in the gacha slips through the cracks of PONOS, they can't nerf it at all due to gacha laws so they're forced to being more creative with things like Counter-Surge that have recently flopped into their face. I feel like all the Bwashed Awakening stages were experiments to see if there was any way counter surge could counter Dasli and she destroys all of them which shows the failure of the counter surge mechanic.
As someone who has had Dasali as my second uber back in EoC 1, I will say that I use basically the same load out for every stage. Dasali and bahaumut in the back, 1 or 2 crowd control units if the stage is difficult, 4 meat shields, and kasa jiso can can.
Hot take, Kasli is worse for the game than Courier. So Courier is a unit that everyone can get with no RNG/gacha required and makes a lot of the game easier, but outside of SOL and early UL, you can’t just make a lineup of dual eraser and courier and have a decent chance of beating any stage coming your way. Additionally, courier has ‘competition’ for stages with non-red enemies. Cameraman for floating, jizo for black and angels, etc. These units, while not the extreme generalists they used to be due to powercreep, haven’t had their main/intended niche stolen. Sure the existence of Courier lead to one of, if not THE worst addition to battle cats gameplay, being over-tuned behemoth enemies, but said behemoth enemies are rare to find outside of behemoth-focused stages, which are technically not needed for progression. Courier did also ruin red as a trait but like… red was already extremely powercreeped beforehand, this was just the nail in the coffin. Dasli on the other hand can’t have stages designed around her existence due to being extremely limited. There have been attempts with the addition of surge immunity and counter, but that just made it so that surge units of an average, or even above average strength have to suffer from her balance problems. As you said, she’s essentially a win button for a majority of the game. At least with courier, while he’s near required for most behemoth stages, at least said stages are still difficult and require strategy. Stages that are meant to counter Dasli often fail to do so, rather they just slightly nullify her insane strengths. I get why Ponos is extremely hesitant to change units after release, especially when they’re gacha units, but Jesus Christ Dasli needs a nerf. Just remove the random BS that makes her broken compared to Kasli. Extra surge level, guaranteed CC, more range. She doesn’t need this
personally im starting to open up to courrier just because of how busted dasli is. People hate that he's basically a requirement for every behemoth stage but there are plenty of other units who are use by literally everyone, like can can. sure his stats are busted, however, unlike dasli, he doesn't completely overshadow everything else in his role. with dasli the only ubers you can really use besides her are units with godlike specialist powers like bora, thermae, catman, etc. or ubers that have very strong support like balaluga, chronos, cosmo, mitama, etc. she completly deletes most competition.
This will be an unpopular opinion, but I like Dasli. Why? I had an old BC account some years ago and... I was struggling A LOT. The most difficult stage to beat for me was a Manic fish stage. I tried it so many times and haven't received any progress. I lacked some good Ubers and some good brains(I am mostly bad at strategical games). Lil Valkerie carried me through some stages, but it wasn't enough. So, I started a new BC account after accidentally deleting the old one(no comments)... And one of the first Ubers that I got was the Dasli! She became my powercreep and my revenge to the levels I couldn't beat before getting her. Did she make me undefeatable? For the most levels - completely yes. Did she make my gaming experience boring or my brains even slower? No. 1) I was able to get new cats that I wanted, like rock cat, slime cat, train cat and others. 2) I was still troubled by some hard/random stages like Z-onel strikes, March to Geath, floors 41-50 of Heavenly and Infernal tower. 3) I've got better at my strategy, 'cause I managed to crawl to the 4-star levels and levels with No Uber restriction(which is kinda rare to be honest, although it exists). 4) You can farm boring stages for catfood/other things much faster, even without needing to use the same strategy every single time. So, for me, Dasli is the unit, that, like Lucas said, you can use or just ignore to acnowledge more challenge. At the end of the day, she is still a broken unit, which, objectively speaking, should be nerfed. But from my subjective point of view, I am thankful to her. I've managed to see so much cats, abilities and stages, which would be unreachable for me without her.
I had Dasli on an old account trapped on my phone that needed a factory reset and I still remember her destroying dark ottas with ease. I don't remember what other mileage I got outta her, and I'm glad there hasn't been a need to roll on either fest since I restarted a while back.
You know how back in the shadow gao days people used to use "uber-carried" as an insult, and showed off by beating tough stages without gatcha units? We should bring this back but call it "dasli carried", and show off by beating stages with generally "underpowered" ubers.
Spamming funny ubers is the best way to play the game anyway. I've leveled up a bunch of random garbage ubers at this point just to mess around and it's fun.
Damn, it never truly struck to me how broken Dasli truly was. I remember a lot of people on release didn’t even truly hype her up to the level she deserved at first, even though she was obviously acknowledged to be good. Now with this video I understand a lot better how broken she is. Really good explanation as I haven’t consistently played BC in over 3 years!
I see plenty of people who want to stop using certain broken ubers but can't seem to quite be able too. Wether it is inexperience of using some ubers, to simply not wanting/able to invest in other ubers. Convinience sometimes makes matters worse.
@@celestialwaffle1491 when that happens to me i just force myself to keep hating the unit and i dont use it, but ill be for real here i think gaia is very overrated
31:37 it is a result of not taking what mentioned into account. So a Change I would make is either: -Knockback has a 75% chance to activate, making it consistent enough for her to have that niche. -Make her Surge chance for knockback be sperate from her own activation, that way there's greater chances her damage can be relyiably applied or the enemy is pushed back enough to lower their threatness. -Have her not move if her attack isn't ready, doesn't stop her units for falling into a possibly worse scenario, atleast makes her ability actually be safe. -My favorite option, change Knockback into weaken, have it be 100% and 50% to curse, this makes her safety being disabling her opponent, which helps her frontline better survive and stay due to those removals. she still suffers though from rushdowns, as while their damage is reduced, they have way more times to apply it, so her weaken still gets countered, the curse is an extra.(also helps is the most character fitting, as it's a supportive thing she gives back to those who assisted her)
What is funny is that the people who complain About Dasli being to OP are the first people to Max Dasli and throw all their cateyes on her if they get Dasli in Epicfest (also that they become HUGE simps and don't stop worshipping her all the time)
I swear the simplest way to put why people hate Dasli is because she allows you to basically sweep and cheese the game while others have to use strategy and certain units to beat levels. I have Dasli and Mitama so I’m on neither side but I’m willing to admit that Dasli is possibly the most OP unit in the game when it comes to killing and shutting down Enemy types.
Dkasli is like the problem arknights has. it's called powercreep. Dkasli has powercreep, so people who have her will blitz through the game but will have no skill at all. Players like yourself, for example, are skilled with a lot more units. the players who get Dkasli would be considered a one trick pony and wouldn't be able to make strats Also, another issue is that people who only use Dkasli will not find the game fun because there is no challenge
For 1 crowned UL stages i probably did 90% of them no ubers, because it was somewhat challenging to try without a hard carry. Unlike some stages like cloned farmers which i couldn't beat normally. I also usually did most other stages like advents, sol without ubers to experience the stage difficulty. But in 3 crowns UL I just use dasli, since the enemies magnifications are just unfair, so I hit them back with unfariness.
@@TaseenAlim I swear the next solution PONOS had in mind to nerf Dasli after the failure of counter-surge was just to make no gacha 4* Dasli with Uril TF (Ig to make her less desriable?). Dasli is still the best uber in the game since you'd just use both lmao.
I haven't played Battle Cats since 2017, when Gao came out. Watching this video was like learning your firstborn child who left for college snorted fifteen lines of coke and then detonated a bomb in the middle of a busy street.
Great video! I dont have have dasli but want her after watching this, i uber carry with daliasan and yukimura and those units are already pretty broken i cant imagine having an even more broken generalist line up. I hope you make more of this type of content it was fun to watch.
Ok......... Kasli the Bane is a very powerful unit when it comes to stats. The combination of high health and 5 knockbacks leads to her staying alive for a long time when summoned. Thanks to the powerful Surge, she is also able to deliver high and consistent damage to midrangers and backliners, such as Le'noir and R.Ost, while also intercepting incoming peons and keeping enemies that are extremely easy to knockback at bay, such as Gory variants, Brollow, Rain D. and Mr. Puffington. Lastly, she can even be used for "base trapping": if you have her hit a base and trigger a boss wave, her Surge will instantly hit and severely cripple anything that comes out, sometimes making a massive difference. Just remember that due to her blindspot and most of her damage being concentrated in the surge, she will not perform too well against Zombies, short ranged pushers like Bore or One Horn, as well as surge-immune enemies. However, a tanky unit can cover her blind spot, making her usage even more viable. Damage isn't all she has though: her Curse ability lets her disable enemies' Knockback, Slow, Freeze, Weaken, Warp, Curse, Dodge Attack and Toxic abilities. Since it has good uptime, this makes her even more useful against enemies with annoying abilities like Super Metal Hippoe, Li'l Doge, Crazed Axe Cat, Henry, Winged Pigge, Gobble, Heavenly Herald Papuu, Bakoo and all Relics. There are, however, rare instances in which her Curse ability can be counterproductive, such as against some units with Warp, who would become unable to warp any attackers they reach to safety. This is most notable against Final Boss Giga God. Her immunities to Wave Attacks, Warp, Curse, Weaken and Surges
I have to admit grinding 4 star SOL was the unexpectedly one of the most fun I’ve had as it provided an actual challenge and made me use cats I wouldn’t have thought of ever touching instead of just use dasli and mitama to instantly win
When I first got Dasli, I used her on basically every stage I could because of, well, every point you've said in the video. It's ridiculous because of how she's STILL busted in 3* UL and STILL beats everything to death, where most ubers would just die or do not that much. The game got boring and way too easy after I used her-and my skill level in the game plummeted. I could barely meatshield well after using her for the entirety of 3* UL, to the point where I decided that I'd just stop using dasli for any stage (except for barons cause fuck those). She's one hell of a game-breaker, but not in a good way. Great video 👍

Understandable, also, nice content, left a sub!
agreed.
Kinda like this, I feel like there are no balance in stages. Most stages are either to easy or too hard.
God I feel so lucky I'm at itf 2 moon and have Aphrodite true form , DASLI AND DAWNBREAKER IZANAGI

@@Milolaidusi cant even imagine the hell that is going to be starred ZL
@@Original_Flesh_Panopticon late starred ul will probably be worse besides a whole new world and adherence to virtue
a 3* adherence to virtue would maybe be impossible
Yeah she is op, i got carried by her in sol and early ul. And she absolutely destroys most of barons.(I need to start playing without her lmao)
Lucky
Lucas, I'm truly enjoying this shit. Love the format, the narrative, the niche of being a Battle Cats historian of sorts... you probably can't cook many more videos with this format, but I'm sure every single one of them is going to be this good of a delight!!
"First we need to talk about parallel universes" genuinely scared me, I thought I was going on another 6-hour long study session on battle cats quantum physics 😭
Another?! Nani
I don’t I’ve never progressed so fast
Seeing my friend breeze through floor 30 with Dkasli without even realizing it was a special stage made me genuinely sad. I remember spending all night trying to best that stage and near the end my heart rate would spike but I would have to keep focus because one simple mistake could end me. Now it’s just Dkasli go brrr
Coming here of knowing this pain as something similar happened to me but
That’s exactly what I did 😭😭😭
Being a Fate/Grand Order player she seems kind of similar to Artoria Caster (from now on referred to as Castoria), with the only difference being that Castoria is a "defensive" support unit.
This led to a team archetype called "Immortal Comp" which consists of Castoria (mandatory), secondary gauge support (Merlin, Lady Avalon, Miyu), and Overcharge support (Himiko, Reines, Morgan)
The idea is that Castoria's Anti-purge Defense gives you one hit of invulnerability per level of Overcharge on her Noble Phantasm (super attack), up to 5 hits to each party member over 3 turns at Overcharge level 5.
LOLL thats actually pretty funny, invul for all is insane
Yeah and the game also tries to "balance" so many future challenge fights by having buff removals enemies, etc just because how broken she is and ps. she still broke those fights too
LMAO and my Castoria's skills isn't even Maxed
Are you the strongest because you're Dasli or are you Dasli because you're the strongest?
Nah, I'd surge
the jjk brainrot claims another
Wha huh?
-is that manic eraser placed before eraser in the unit lineup eww-
For some reason, I really like the nerdy discussion/analysis videos - they are always very entertaining, even though I sometimes already know about the topic being discussed
I started to play BC at around December 2019, so I was in the perfect place to witness the sheer destruction Dasli brought on the uber meta.
I think it's also that they don't care, like no matter how much we whine about dasli PONOS' profits will be the exact same
W Dasli
Dasli is really bad and should be removed.
Until i get her that is. If that happens, then shes an amazing balanced unit that should be buffed even more
I personally fucking agree and will stand by this until my dying breath
Bro is based.
Lmao I got her as my first Uber, I'm clearly a real pro player
@@The-Demi-God extreme skill
Agreed. I want her removed until I get her, at which point she becomes THE BEST balanced unit ever!!
Amazing video man
As many and you already said, Dasli isn't exactly the main problem. The game was already turning into "big stats vs big stats" and it was just snowballing more and more with every update. Dasli just junda marks a point of no return
It's a massive issue and honestly it cant really be fixed sadly (nerfs and balance changes, if anything, would just hurt the game more), but it can be compensated if Ponos would make some insane bold risks more often which will completely shake up the meta.
I REALLY hope Ponos would explore this whole "one-time-use ability" concept a lot more
I like how all of the abilities you mention are all in BCU
I'm aware you could count seed tracking as cheating, that is the whole reason why I try and stir away from it, this is a gacha game so...
Dasli: Nah I'd Surge
Dasli: Stand proud Phonoa, you were strong
I really dislike how powerful these ubers are as they turn the game into 'click the light blue furry/black and blue woman button and win the stage!'
And this I think is also part of a bigger problem with the games gacha system as with it you have control over when a person gets dasli.
BC players migrating to AK like you and Zafang only to be caught with the same balancing issues
I don't think it's possible to avoid this level of creep in any gacha. This is just the nature of the genre and how it's monetized
As someone who nearly soloed the boss of dorothy’s event using Texas alter and yato alter, I agree with this statement.
Genshin is still in the clear after almost 5 years.
The devs are really REALLY trying to maintain balance.
Suffering from success XD
I love dasli(I have her)
I got her with ten tickets when people were still saying she was mid and I almost sold her for np. I am so glad I didn't do that
Same dude i pulled her from a random plat ticket when people thought she wasnt even all that good and were still confused abt the curse
I almost sold her for xp, glad i didnt but part of me wishes i had too
@@AliSarvghad She is so good and mine is level 60 now and is basically immortal and I just beat Relic Bun Bun in UL

A 57 minutes Lucas video? I'm in heaven?
angel spotted, deploying 50 ramen cats
Missed opportunity for you to use the level 1 dasli it would have been hilarious for you to rant about how broken she is while getting sniped in the background lmao
Still great video proving how boring it is to ALWAYS USE HER.
No way, Creeps20 video but Battle Cats, that's crazy
Dasli, truly the Pokra of BC
Mobile game nerds who talk about unit game design. Truly one of my favorite genders.
U almost all caught up, any tips for that dolphin pufferfish stage in ul
That last part should be the plot of a sequel fr. Cats got too strong, enemies gotta fight back now
You're right she is not balanced. Phonos shuld give her true form with wave atack, counter surge, strong against, insane damage, base destroyer, critical atack, insanely tough, warp , freze , extra money, doge , metal, sage slayer, colosus slayer and behemoth slayer. Sureley this will help
Facts
throw in a lvl 8 surge, blast, attack and defense talents, then she's absolutely balanced
as someone who got dasli legit and used her loads I have to say, she is waay too strong and i became over reliant on her and the game became really stale but your returner mode opened my eyes and I haven't used dasli in months and the game is sooo much more fun using not the best and using like b or c tier units and this video, my god , it was amazing, all points I agree with and I've been playing the game for like 8 years at this point on and off and I think this video needed to be made because we need the next chapter of battle cats to be like the old days and be more fun :D
Running through UL has been so fun trying to find stages where I instead use a specific niche uber or strategy.
ik people usually say to never scrap ubers, but seeing stuff like this, I won't hesitate to sacrifice dasli for np.
I always love these better produced and edited videos hope you do more
Babe wake up 1 hour dasli rant video just dropped

I just remember watching Mattshea use Dasli on Malevolent Fish and suffer horribly, only to win on the very first attempt after he takes her out of his lineup\
If we get more stage design like that with Gokurakku having Counter Surge and showing up quite a bit in ZL, we might be seeing a return to strategy somewhat (ignoring the existence of the Socrates Bossfight in the current state of anti-sage of course)
What video was that?
@@Lylactal The one featuring the unlocking of Supercar Cat
"How much do you use other ubers for actual intended porpouses aside from just testing them at all?"
Many. Although I'm a D.Kasli owner and user, either I'm in a perpetual state of skill issue or just RNG screwing me with her position.
I can't always use her because MANY stages either always have:
1- An enemy that outranges her
2- The stage itself not having easily achievable cash (looking at you mixed stages with zombie units in it)
Examples of others I use are Sakura Miku and Volta in Alien stages, Kaihimi and Yukimura for Black stages, Windy for Floating, Lufalan Pasalan when I get the chance...
If your stuck on swim meet just use volta or miku with catelite that's what I used for 3 crowm
@@Flont40 yeah, i agree with you take on zombies. I also really like their designs, as in the way they look.
I think people should draw her without clothes more often, but that's just my opinion
i respect your honesty at least
Extremely quality video. Good work.

35:44 fun fact, the pictures depicted here are actually lucasthefourth’s real life reaction when he first saw dasli.

(And it still failing)
calling her Gojo just means there isnt a long time before they basically nerf Dasli to be nothing more than a fun to use, but weak unit lol
@@Ex0tic404 Major cap. Gojo was always strong up until he drew his last breath. The only unit even on the same level as dasli is phonoa (who's arguably even better.) and he might as well be what sukuna was to gojo.

@@Ex0tic404 nerf is unlikely though. Can't remember the last time Ponos nerfed a unit, and its especially unlikely when it's an epicfest exclusive which is already extremely rare to begin with. Especially with how long it's been already. Despite popular belief here, dasli isn't actually a hated unit by most and a nerf wouldn't be well received, the JP community would dislike it even more.
haven’t played this game in like 3 months but im about to watch every second of this
The whole "not using other ubers" kinda extends to phonoa and phono too.
Tbh i agree, i see phonoa the same way i see Dasli (too OP and requies exactly 0 skill)
Lovin the TEVI soundtrack being used
Personally as the Kasli simp I hate dasli because she outshines the original form by just killing everything on sight, while it's more fun to see all the enemies get pushed back behind the base or have the chance to do so, it's not guaranteed which is what makes it more exciting and satisfying
Great video, I'm on your side to ride on the dasli hate train
You releasing a long video is such a gift.
Haters be hatin'
Dasli be Daslin'
Lucas, your sfx for appearing images sounded too early here, plz fix thx
54:30 (happened in two instances)
Also, regarding your question for Dasli users...
Man they even made the counter surge, while there is no wave block or wave reflect for enemies or something
wave block would be really cool on enemies and wave reflect would be very interesting
Just wait till dasli true form. 10h essay incomming. (Btw watching this while eating is epic)
dasli ultra form in 52 years
aphrodite treatment 1% more hp
Her true form can be a nerf but her evolved form will still be totallybroken
@@SPZ-gv2on ultralan gladios carry for life
Damn, it never truly struck to me how broken Dasli truly was.
Hearing you talk about how Battle Cats is so different now made me think "The future is now, old man."
Everyone hates Dasli until you actually get her, then she's really cool and good.

31:37 it is a result of not taking what mentioned into account.
So a Change I would make is either:
-Knockback has a 75% chance to activate, making it consistent enough for her to have that niche.
-My favorite option, change Knockback into weaken, have it be 100% and 50% to curse, this makes her safety being disabling her opponent, which helps her frontline better survive and stay due to those removals.
she still suffers though from rushdowns, as while their damage is reduced, they have way more times to apply it, so her weaken still gets countered, the curse is an extra.(also helps is the most character fitting, as it's a supportive thing she gives back to those who assisted her)
Only papaluga surge buff can save us

What is funny is that the people who complain About Dasli being to OP are the first people to Max Dasli and throw all their cateyes on her if they get Dasli in Epicfest (also that they become HUGE simps and don't stop worshipping her all the time)
39:04 how long has this video been in the making?🤔
I swear the simplest way to put why people hate Dasli is because she allows you to basically sweep and cheese the game while others have to use strategy and certain units to beat levels. I have Dasli and Mitama so I’m on neither side but I’m willing to admit that Dasli is possibly the most OP unit in the game when it comes to killing and shutting down Enemy types.
Dkasli is like the problem arknights has. it's called powercreep.
Dkasli has powercreep, so people who have her will blitz through the game but will have no skill at all.
Players like yourself, for example, are skilled with a lot more units. the players who get Dkasli would be considered a one trick pony and wouldn't be able to make strats
Also, another issue is that people who only use Dkasli will not find the game fun because there is no challenge
Its been 2 years since i consistently play battle cats, and the fact dasli is still a hot topic is so funny for me. Love the video essay tho
But in 3 crowns UL I just use dasli, since the enemies magnifications are just unfair, so I hit them back with unfariness.
respect for making an hour long dasli rant 🗿(now make one for phono)
Can’t wait for 2 hours of phonoa and courier rants
Yeah but when are we going to the uril true form rant? Uril is basically a no-gacha dasli in true form.
@@TaseenAlim I swear the next solution PONOS had in mind to nerf Dasli after the failure of counter-surge was just to make no gacha 4* Dasli with Uril TF (Ig to make her less desriable?).
