    Another great source of proteins are Lentils. For every cup of cooked boiled lentils , you get 18grams of protein. just make sure to pre-soak your lentils. food for thought :) Thanks for sharing.

    I think this is a really great diet to follow for anyone, honestly. If you want to keep it vegan, seems pretty easy to just omit one item. And really, there's no reason to jump all over him over one egg, he's been helping people get healthy for years, the guy's done some damn good work. Shaming on him and trolling isn't going to change it, really.

    I love that you added cooked grains. I would buy them more if I knew delicious ways to prepare them. Thanks for these two ideas.
    I am loving your research on green smoothies and saw I could recover quickly this last summer while running.
    I am so grateful we have such healthy and delicious fuel to reach our dreams! I am training for my first marathon ever and tri in about 15 years! I'm so thankful we have these incredibly affordable options that heal us!

    I'd like to add a simple, easy, idea for cooking grains. For variety and interest, flavor the water that you cook your grains in. Salt your water (if salt is in your diet, if not just don't add it of course), but also add other flavors. If you want a sweet breakfast grain, add some sweetener to the water. If you want a savory grain, add a couple of bay leaves. Or mixed Italian spices. I like to add onion and/or garlic powder to my grain cooking water. I also mix the grains and cook them together - a favorite is whole rye berries with brown jasmine rice, with French green lentils with hulled barley. Makes a wonderful, interesting, chewy, satisfying high protein grain mix. Experiment with flavoring your grains while cooking them and have fun! :-)

    Not sure why people are slamming him for 1 measly egg. He went raw vegan for years and years, and he adds one goddamned egg, and people friggin' freak out. How many people can say they have been raw for 18 years? And, honestly, how can you KNOW FOR SURE anyone who says they are raw vegan is telling you the truth? Because you see some videos of people saying that they are? You don't know that. When you consider how many calories Sergei consumes in a day, and how much of that is from animal protein, he is still like 95% vegan. I commend him for having the guts to come out and say, "yeah, I eat an egg once in a while." We're all human, but we all have different genes, and, therefore, cannot expect to eat based one one design, or one diet plan. What don't you people understand about that?

      That sounds like a reasonable argument. Im still eating meat but im really open to other peoples journeys and the diets they follow. Im still learning and experimenting with my own body to see what works good for me. I am trying now to eat less meat and increasing my fruits and veggies. I think you need to give people a chance and dont be forceful with your particular way or people will think you might be trying to force some kind of religion down their throat~ Im trying to make changes on a gradual bases also and not go cold turkey. Very interesting video tho and informative. I think their is alot to be learn from Sergei.

      Some people are egotistical enough to think it's all about maintaining a title. If one so much as eats one measly egg then strictly speaking he is not vegan and should be ashamed of himself. People go to extreme lengths with veganism, treating it more like a religion, like you say. Sergei probably only calls himself vegan in a broad sense, using it as a guideline rather than a strict practice, which is a good thing because it allows you to keep an open mind. His videos are to educate people about how to eat healthier, not to show the world how much of a do-gooder he is.

      If you wonder why vegans might react to a false idea of being vegan, a vegan is a "person who does not eat or use animal products."
      There is no percentage of vegan. He's either vegan or reductarian claiming he eats 95% of what a vegan eats, or eats 95% plants. There is no 95% vegan. To a vegan, promoting any suffering of another sentient life means not being vegan.
      A chicken tries to make a full nest, and pecks at the unfertilized eggs for nutrients and calcium due to the loss it sustained by creating the eggs in the first place. We take the "products" and the chicken keeps laying them, up to thirty times its original number. The chicken lives its life in utter suffering, pumping out an extreme amount of cholesterol, saturated fat, potential disease, and harmful animal protein in each egg. It is completely pointless and harmful for us to subject another sentient life to suffering for such a hedonistic fancy. Why eat something bad for us that comes out of the chicken's ass-vagina during its menstrual period if we don't have to, and if it causes this kind of suffering?
      And if someone grew up respecting every life form, taught from birth to abstain from creating distinctions of species, races, types, sexes, etc., do you think this person would cause much discrimination later? Unlikely.
      I don't understand how vegans potentially lying, like anyone potentially lying about anything, has any contextual importance. I find it unlikely someone who feels it's wrong to eat animal products, wrong for the animal and wrong for their diet, will be someone to lie unless they feel it's right to eat animal products, to cause the rape of another life for no reason. He claims he loves life, this isn't loving life. He claims he's a health nut, but eating even one egg is extremely unhealthy. I understand it is nice for someone to come out and admit something dark. Atkins tried to hide his own heart disease so he could keep promoting himself. It's nice for people to admit contradictions but they will not be follow-worthy if after admission they haven't changed and continue to do the wrong thing.
      I understand if you think meat is healthy, due to the massive amount of government and big industry sponsoring and the fact it's brainwashed into everyone growing up. But I encourage you to look into it further. Just don't be fooled into the discriminatory state of mind that thinks because a doctor farted out pseudoscience in a convincing way he should be believed. Check sources: one of the best websites I've found for peer-reviewed source has been from Nutritionfacts dot org.
      I will address the argument that we are all designed differently and have varying diets.
      I think this is true, but only within the context of a purely herbivorous lifestyle, for with plants we do not filter nutrients through the dead bodies of animals. We get to the source directly. We look for the biggest, best, most vibrant plants because they have the most nutrients. Unlike carnivores or omnivores we are not sniffing out disease with a 400,000x sense of smell because we know our short digestive tract and powerful acids can dissolve and make use of just about any gross thing around. We have a mindstate for foraging misplaced in carnivorous territory and there's a reason why the countries with the most milk consumption have the most osteoporosis, why a single egg goes over our daily cholesterol, why meat acidifies our bones*, contributes to poor gut bacteria, cancer and growth hormones, etc. etc. ad infinitum. Our jaws are herbivorous, digestive tracks herbivorous, teeth herbivorous (And for the canines, hippos for example have the biggest canines as well as many other herbivores; canines are not an indicator of meat eating).
      I encourage you and anyone else to look into the numerous reasons why we thrive on plants and end up suffering if we eat meat, and also to realize it isn't our fault we have been conditioned to feel abstract about animals.
      About "peoples journeys", the issue is that this journey has many victims. A top contributor to greenhouse gases and climate change, species extinction, ocean dead zones, and creating a toilet of disease and taxes to pay for people ignorantly committing suicide. A criticism and attempt to convince comes from the fact that this isn't just someone smoking, killing themselves in a solitary corner somewhere, this is a much bigger problem with many victims, not all of them animal. If you understand the implications fully, you might advocate veganism yourself, knowing how important this matter is to address if we wish to live in an ideal state and promote an ideal state for others.

    Don't make the mistake I made, I switched from a moderate diet to green smoothies cold turkey and I pretty much shocked my body (70% green smoothies and 30% moderate diet). I went from super energetic to literally the most exhausted I've ever felt in my life, because my body wasn't used to it, so ease into it. After 2 months my body came back to normal and I felt even better. So my point is, green smoothies are amazing and healthy but just ease into it, one small smoothie a day and slowly increase it.

    A bit surprising yes.
    Eggs would be great if they were produced by HAPPY CHICKENS but they very rarely exist.
    Pasture raised chickens are not necessarily well treated ( I participated in a rescue recently) and they end up at the slaughterhouse at one year and a half when chickens can live up to 10 years.
    So the only way to eat and enjoy eggs ethically is from backyard chickens (not commercial ones) and keep them to the end of their lives. That means adding chickens to your flock every so many years as the older hens don't produce anymore.
    I started being vegan 10 years ago and I don't have any nutritional deficiencies but others may be different.

    • @cairidhnicleoid562

      you can rescue ex battery chickens on their way to the slaughterhouse. because of their terrible life they tend to only live a few years after rescue.

      There are more and more small farmers offering eggs from happy chickens, albeit more expensive, but worth it - stick with the little local guys or if you can, have your own backyard chickens, much more cost effective and fun!

      the only ethical way to have eggs is to also adopt a male chicken

    • @polyglotpower2405
      @polyglotpower2405 2 роки тому

      ^^ this. Even the ones from the farmers' market come from chickens that will be killed after they are no longer productive ("henopause"). Even with backyard chickens (as we have), there is the rooster problem. Most urban/ suburban areas don't allow them, and many people don't want them, so after sexing, male chicks are usually killed.

    That is one hardcore food lineup.I don't really know why there are so many people judging you. If only my diet lined up with this, I would be pretty fit too. The egg thing is okay as long as the chickens were pastured. I kept chickens and they lived outside in my big one acre back yard and had sun, bugs and all the greens they could eat. Pastured eggs are different than factory eggs.They have half the dietary cholesterol of unethically raised battery production eggs. I have often wondered if it would be okay to add them back into my family's diet. However I own a shop now and cannot be at home to insure the safety of my flock. We have so many predators on our land and it makes me cry when I lose a beloved bird. So, no eggs for now. We just switched over to vegan, so actually can go a few years before we need animal protein again. I think people need to consider the ethics of a pasture raised egg before they readily condemn it. I do realize that the majority of the population does not have access to humanely raised eggs however, so most people need to go without. It is a conundrum.

    Diet is a very personal journey. I can't believe the narrow minded criticisms of some of the commenters. If Sergei wants to include animal protein in his diet, that's his right based on his experience with his body's requirements. Sergei, in your videos, you have often referred to the diets of chimpanzees, which includes insects. Have you considered including insect flour in your smoothies? Then you could emulate the food group ratios of the chimps. Just a thought...

  • @LucyAmberon
    @LucyAmberon 5 років тому +3

    This diet makes a lot of sense. We need B12 and that’s in the egg, the cooked grains are easily digested sustaining starch and he gets the greens and the fruit..one of the most balanced and sustainable high raw food diets I’ve seen and he looks good on it. He clearly has a healthy non dogmatic approach and listens to his body’s signals. Interesting also chimps do eat not only greens fruit and nuts and insects but they also tear monkeys apart and eat them alive hunting them in packs. Victoria didn’t mention this when she spoke of her research but really if we are to follow them in terms of nutrition then animal products would be included. It’s simply a fact and nothing to do with animal rights..but a chimp fact.

    • @danciura4754
      @danciura4754 5 років тому +1

      That's true, but chimps don't buy those monkeys from factories that torture and treat them like they're not sentient beings. Some of us have nothing against eating animal products per se, just don't want to support that kind of industry. The way I personally deal with that is by taking supplements, but I would have no problem eating eggs if I knew they came from free roaming chicken.

    I've been following Sergei and Valya for years since their first book and always imagined them talking with Russian accents, silly me. The only raw foodists who seem to be healthy longterm are the paleo dieters like Aojanus Vonderplanitz. Most raw vegans drop out in the first year because of deficiencies which disappear when they start eating cooked grains/beans or raw animal products. I really believe to be healthy on a vegan diet you need to eat cook wholegrains/beans, and that to be healthy on a raw diet you need to eat raw meat/eggs/dairy. I think raw and vegan are mutually exclusive. Unfortunately cooked food now makes me very ill and I don't want to eat meat so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place :(

Gym says my body tests are that of a healthy 33 year old. I have none of the problems that are supposed to come with ageing Given all that I'm not a fanatic. Few people have the discipline to stick to a raw diet. I advise most people to read the books of the Medical Medium (Anthony William). His information is far in advance of modern medical research and the information is helpful no matter what kind of diet you follow.

      a lot of cooked vegans grow old with no deficiencies. on the other hand many cooked vegetarians and vegans develop health problems after about 7yrs which is when your fat soluble vitamins (from animal food) tend to run out. so for cooked vegetarians I recommend taking the animal forms of vitamins A D K and also B12 and omega 3 oil with dha and epa. they can be extracted from algae or lichen, so it is possible to get them on a vegan diet, but buying all those supplements is expensive. raw vegan is different. majority of raw vegans have health problems in first year, which go away when they either eat raw animal products or cooked grains and beans. so probably is protein deficiency. to get equivalent protein on raw vegan you would have to eat massive amounts of greens which is impossible - too expensive and you would have to spend all day chewing. after years of being malnourished on raw vegan I'm now eating large amount of spirulina to see if that solves the problem. it seems to helping.

      It has a lot to do with the quality and variety of absorbable minerals consumed. Use full spectrum salts and little if needed of natural full mineral sweeteners like maple syrup or dark brown sugar. Raw vegetables and whole grains like rolled oats. A craving for animal food is usually a craving for mineral salts.

    Hey, I have you and your sisters original book eating without heating. I love it. I got into the vegan diet back in 2004 and your book was one of my first. Made several of your recipes including my first raw cake.
    This is a great video, however what if the person watching the video wants to stay vegan. There are many fit vegans.
    Do you have a strictly vegan alternate diet where you can maintain your abs and energy level?
    If you see my comment and respond back that would be awesome. Appreciate you guys! Much love to your family!

    It's important to listen to our bodies. If you're body is asking for animal products, if it feels better with them, then eat them. Other animals eat animals. It's not the eating of animals that is bad, it's the treatment of mass production. Avoid mass produced animal products, buy from local small farms to support the better treatment of animals.

    On the subject of basil, Thai and purple basil have a distinct liquorice flavour to them, with a slight spicy kick to them as well. They are a pleasure to grow in the garden and look lovely as well. I highly recommend that you guys see how well they grow in your region and heavily consider growing some if they are a viable option.

    I've been 100% raw for 12 yrs, yoyoed between cooked and raw for 9yrs before that and have never ever felt well on this diet. Always been malnourished and suffered from deficiencies. Trouble is if I eat cooked food now it makes me very ill/poisoned. I stupidly ate nothing but fruit for 5 months when I was 14 because I didn't want to kill plants or animals and since then I can't tolerate cooked food at all. Anything except fruit, even raw veg makes me feel unwell. I feel better if I eat just fruit but then after a couple of weeks get deficiency symptoms... still trying to figure out what I should eat. I'm about to buy a bulk order of spirulina, and see if eating 100g a day solves the problem. (that's 50g of protein).

    Nice to hear honest feedback. I agree veganism can be a temporary solution but is not meant for long term. Most vegans do not understand that they indirectly promote factory meat foods by pushing out the "good" farmers who are doing things right like Joel Salatin etc. All factory food should be avoided including vegetables, grains, meats etc. Know your farmer and stop shopping at the franchise stores.
