Been a cabbie 20 years. Seen radio taxis, dial a cab, my taxi, Hailo etc… all these people are just dipping in and out using the trade to enhance their business profile in 10 years this guy will be working in a complete different industry. Bottom line these companies need us we don’t need them and that will always be the case. From a drivers perspective the more apps the better then they are all fighting each other for your work but you will always be the one in control. They work for you, you do not work for them.
Nail on the head…. All these apps are investor led and feed (prey on) from a thriving trade for revenue using commission fees (taking the work from the streets then selling it back to you at a cost). This would be less of a sting for the drivers if the said apps / investors reinvested back into the trade I.e to push for a unity hailing app for all London taxi drivers…. But they don’t, they are parasites.
Why does the driver have to pay any commision at all?? If the customer wants the convenience of a cab to their door then they should be paying all the charges. The meter ammount reflects what it costs to own or rent a cab! Why should i take a pay cut??
I’m a London cabbie and prioritise street work and use FreeNow and Gett if I’m in the suburbs or if work is really dead. If you have a problem with how apps work, just don’t fucking use it and stop crying about the commission etc. Freenow are a business at the end of the day.
Never trust a man who has no sense of humour, the FreeNow man was definitely at the back of the queue when they were handing it out and never got his 😂
Anything above 10% commission is a joke and because of this I will be super picky when I take a job. Even when I’m in the same street. Which means I probably do about 2 jobs a month on FN.
I use the app because I think it earns me more money than if I didn’t. Problem is, much of the time you’re earning a lot less when using it. Let’s take an example, say an immediate street hails, you pull over, you do the job that takes 10 mins and you earn say £12. Let’s say that same job is an app hail, takes you 4 minutes to get there, wait 2 minutes, do the job that takes 10 minutes. You’ve earned £12 in 16 minutes, minus their commission, so roughly earned £10 in 16 minutes. Earning £12 in 10mins. £1.20/min Earning £10 in 16mins. 62p/min You see the problem…..Half the earning potential.
Hackney carriage driver here, It’s sad to say that unfortunately Taxi drivers have to use some sort of app or the trade would be come extinct. Most Towns & City’s people would come out a Train, Bus station etc with a Line of Taxis outside but they have already pre booked a Taxi while on the Train, Bus etc Commission? I think 15% is reasonable and reduced to 10% if advertised on Cab. That’s what apps do also in our area & even the prices are less than meter in the first place.

Let's hope he keeps his word about daily payments. Hate getting paid every tuesday...
All the loyalty bollocks is about them cornering the mark

In fairness to him english will be his 2nd or 3rd language
Tarquin orders cab through the shiny FreeNow app to go 5 minutes up the road
Hand goes up on the way. "Terminal 5 please?"
*Cancels on Tarquin*

They never covered my paint. And because I kicked off they booted me off the system. Still never paid for my 700 pound paint job.
Taxi trade is 24/7 why ain’t their cab office so drivers can get hold of someone if needed
He is the Mark Zuckerberg of the Taxi apps. Robotic.

OCA’s are no good for the Taxi drivers that want to keep a plain Cab because they do private work that requires no advertising on the taxi
Number 1 black cab app am i missing something oh yes with private hire on
@@davidfoster2832 you didn’t hear the sarcasm in my voice! Haha
I wasn’t so sure. Haha
I wouldn’t fall for any of their nonsense
I was told by one of their top boys a few years ago commission would never go above 10%
So priority drivers take the cream jobs and then other drivers get offered the crap jobs but if rejected guess what freenow ban you 🙄
Embarrassment of an interview
