Alpha and her daughter Lydia meet the whispers Alpha goes out in the city for a supply run and she meets beta she then brings beta back to the camp with the whispers Alpha decides that she wants leadership of the whispers so she ends up fighting hera and winning so then she cuts her face and that is where her mask comes from. And also alphas real name is dee you can do ur research
This explanation makes a lot of sense, though you could also think that she left the whisperers because of the way they were running things. Then, she met Beta and decided to finally take over, like she had wanted for a long time
