Doctor Hobo ( assuming you have an advanced degree) Love the review. I have 600 watts of Yuma on my camper roof. Fit perfectly, glued right down. All for around 20 lbs. So these are are perfect for weight conscious slide in campers! I walk on them only when I have to, so far no probem. I wouldnt have had solar on my camper except for these panels. Screwing into fiberglass top and and all the extra weight, wind resistance, make glass not useable for me.

Efficiency esmishency, 165 and 170 whatever watts is great laying down flat when the sun is at a tilt. 60 to 85 w is what my 100-watt glass panels make during prime hours on any of my systems. I have a 100 watt portable panel that makes 65 at the most, so this is pretty damn good.

My understanding is that the materials for a CIGS actually costs less than a typical mono/glass panel, but they just haven't gotten the same efficiencies of scale through mass production because it's not a widely used and adopted technology yet on the market. My hope is once the demand ramps up on these things and more venders come into the market with similar technology, we can start getting some efficiencies of scale and drive down the price.

I own two of the 100 watt flexible adhesive backed BougeRV Solar Panels. One is glued on top of the cab of my Roadtrek 200 Class B+, GM 3500 series. It works well, stays in place, very light weight and strong. I am budgeting to buy more. Worth every cent. Have removed standard hard frame solar panels and installed a roof A/C for stays at places with shore power. My goal is too get more BougeRV sticky back solar and put as many as I can on the roof of my Roadtrek. Using Ecoflow Wave-2 as a boondocking A/C at night and so far things are good. Many Thanks to HoboTech for all the very informative presentations.

So glad I came across this video. I have a beautiful 2007 Apache popup camper and my original plan was to install 400 watts of solar. I have 2 x 200 watt regular panels at 27 lbs each. My camper uses a Heco crank system so added weight puts a strain on that system and makes it harder to raise my roof. I have struggled with what to do and these panels are the perfect solution! I'll sell the other panels and use your discount code to get 2 of the 200 watt panels with adhesive. I'm so freakin excited right now to know I've found a lightweight and even better solution than the original panels. Thanks Hobo! 👍

  • @greensavant2573

    Great review.
I agree with it all, and just installed this panel on my Toy micro-mini. It replaced a 90w German adhesive panel that lasted 8 years. I did not want to put holes in my 30 yo roof, nor add the weight and wind resistance to the struggling 3.0l engine!
CAUTION! BoughRV has many pics and figures showing this panel being bent inwards and outwards, yet, hidden in their manual, is a warning to only bend with the cells on the outside! I would tell them, but I have given up trying to communicate with their Customer Support. I finally told myself to never buy another product from them, however, this panel is the absolute best out there. Renogy makes one, but it is lower wattage, and costs even more.
BUY THEM BEFORE THE PRICE GOES UP! THEY DON'T HAVE COMPETITION!

I bought two CIGS about 5 months ago and it fixed a problem that could not be solved by any other type of panel. I have a very tall fiberglass roof on my Class B RV and I just did not want to mount glass panels on it due to it being already way to tall/high, fiberglass construction, round shaped, and very hard to get up there. Typical flexible panels just could not cut it due to their poor output and heat sensitivity. The 2 CIGS panels are amazing, produce WAY more than a flexible panel (I think more than glass too but not sure), they weigh very little, and add almost nothing to my van's height. And they were super easy to install.

Probably one of the best demonstrations I have seen for ANY solar panel. About the price. Yes, the cost is important, but not more important than the VALUE. When they say, get the best you can afford, THIS is what they are talking about. That was a lot of abuse that solar panel took, and still worked almost like new. Add in the very long warranty, it's value for the money you are spending. If you can't afford THIS today, it is something I would personally save up for. One other way to look at it. If it lasts HALF its warranty time, 5 years, what is your REAL monthly cost? I am rarely impressed by a product, but dang, Hobo really put some hurting on those panels, and they just shrugged it off. Amazing.

We used to always say when vendors claimed it was idiot proof or unbreakable, let’s give it to some Army or Marine Privates for a couple hours and require them to use it, move it and set it up and break it down…..it will be broken pretty quick HAHA! That being said, these things sound awesome! It would be amazing to be able to order these by specific dimensions. I would love a solid one piece panel to cover my RV roof

I bought 2 of the 100 watt compact CIGS panels for my RTT install. I am going to be using them to charge a AC180 Bluetti. I found I could easily install 3 of these on the top of the tent but if I wire them in series I would exceed the allowed input voltage or if I wired 3 in parallel I would exceed allowed amperage. I guess 2 will be fine. I wish Bouge RV would sell a kit for the adhesive tape so you could add it to panels that have the grommets. I ordered my panels with grommets and found now I would rather just use the adhesive method so I bought some 3M VHB tape to add to the panels. I got this Idea from Hobotech after watching his previous install on his solar panels using this.

I bet this video was super fun! Thanks for the 'extreme' testing! Haha (I wonder how it would handle a 12 gauge!? Haha)

Im liking the direction solar panels are going. As manufacturing processes evolve efficiency will increase and prices should reduce.

Thanks for the review! I didn't know that CIGS existed! I'd be glad to take the shot up panels off your hands if you don't need them. :) I bought a 100W glass panel that only gives me 45W with max sun. I'm hoping that it wasn't shipped defective. :(

Wonder about heat buildup with no space or air under the panel.

The CIGS panels are also extremely heat tolerant, so you don't need to use an insulation layer underneath them like you need to do with silicon monochrystaline flex panels. The manufacturer also says it is unnecessary to put the insulation layer between the panel and the roof. I have two 100 watt CIGS panels and I haven't found any issues with heat affecting them. I really love mine and have been very impressed by their performance, especially in low/diffuse light and partially shaded situations. I've had days of solid heavy rain and clouds and still generated a fair amount of power.
