I use a flexi-lead for my anxiety-prone GSD. I felt like it was the right choice since Arctic stays under control and responds to verbal commands even when he sees something he finds suspect, and he definitely manages better when he has the option to put some additional space between himself and the concerning thing we’re walking past. Eventually we’ll work on heeling regardless of surroundings, but for now I want him to enjoy walking and this really does seem to help increase his confidence. I was glad to see this video, and that it’s an approved method 🙂

I have a fearful/nervous 6 month old mini Aussie (khaleesi) she seems to be having stranger danger not reactive always but more so backs away fast in fear and if someone tries to pet her she’ll put her ears back and will nibble on their hands but not bite obviously I don’t just let people go up and pet her but there has been times where a kid will just run up to pet her and she’s extremely nervous around kids in general… she’s really good with other dogs and usually less nervous of older women she tends to trust them and will just go up to them on her own while I take her to a store or out on walks she’s definitely showing improvement as time goes on she’s extremely smart with learning new things and she knows many commands and tricks (even knows them outside of the home😂) my other standard Aussie who I recently lost knew lots of commands at home but out in public she was extremely reactive and wanted no one looking at her and absolutely wasn’t going to let any dog walk past us with out getting her point across but even before she passed she was improving so much herself as well she was my heart dog there will never be another Fraya

Tom Davis my American Staffordshire Terrier is afraid to walk. She was injured over a year ago. She will literally drag me back to the house when she realizes we are walking.
I watch your videos and could really use some help.

Drive her 5 minutes away then stay within a block or 2 from the car. Take her to a more quiet area without as much traffic.
