Disappointing Brand New Otis Compass Elevators - St. Regis Hotel in Chicago, IL

- And finally, to top off the birthday weekend series, here is a brand new Otis Compass installation at the St. Regis Hotel along with a mini-tour of the hotel's lobby, amenities, and the restaurant. As of when this was posted, only one of the two restaurants is open, and I would assume that the 2nd floor is the other restaurant. 3E and 3W are on the same floor but serve different parts within that floor and are not connected to each other.
MY THOUGHTS:
I really like the beautiful decorations in not just the elevators but the hotel itself, but I was not too impressed with the panel layout, especially on 3W where the panel shows all floors when only two of the seven cars stop at 3W, which is their highest floor. Also, the evacuation map on some of the floors is either poorly printed/drawn or inaccurate, as you'll also notice in the video. Overall, these elevators are awfully nice but need some tweaking to the panel layout so that the guests don't get confused about why they cannot go up any higher when they're on 3W, for instance.
That lift looks interesting 11:03
The new building and elevator looks fabulous. Btw, happy belated birthday!
Oh my tomorrow is a big day it is 30 years of elevator photography as we know it are you ready I know I am
I like these elevators as well. That Map is confusing for sure. Happy B-Day!!
Thanks!
Happy Birthday Johnny!
Thank you!!
Despite the major fix they need, they're really beautiful!
And ofc! Happy Birthday!
I’m assuming that the strange setup of express/local cars is either for security or traffic management. I would not be surprised if these were intended to be keycarded and 3W is left unlocked for the convention center.
On the floors that aren’t served by the panel, I’ve seen that some Kone Polaris installs that will direct you to a different floor and “renew your call.” Still, you’d think with destination dispatch the physical separation of floors is a bit redundant…
I was in Chicago recently only the airport
Happy Birthday dude!
Thanks bud!!
Happy Birthday! 🎉
Thank you!!
Epic!
This hotel is brand new and it’s already experiencing issues lmao
Also Happy Birthday bro!
Yep, not too happy if new installations like this still need fixing to do, whether it's maintenance or design-related. Also, thank you for the bday wish!
@@windycityelevatorsor maybe when you press the handicap button the delay on doors closing is giving the handicap time to get on the elevator, maybe it can’t be overridden with the doors close button.
Personally, I don't understand why Otis Compass does not display which floors are locked or unlocked before you select a floor, unlike with KONE Polaris and TKE AGILE.
By the way, happy birthday!
I kinda realized that lol, but thanks for the bday wish!
Looks like someone redid that hotel haphazardly
I agree with you😮
Happy Birthday Johnny!
Thank you!!
