I love how you managed to explain a very complex subject in a way that a even a little kid would understand what you're talking about. That is what I call a quality content.

Lol your quotations make it seem like you’re being sarcastic.

That isn't true. You think so only because you have heard these information before or you're kind of acquited with it even if you didn't fully get it. I, for example, understood everything in the capture codec almost effortlessly, I know what bits and pixel means and everything. But when he started talking about frames, I totally zoomed out.
Yu 😜r 🤣t I am now 🤣🤣 yeah I 🤣 that is a good
This video is definitely a good example of how to make an informative video: good script, informative, plenty of visuals, and good editing. 👍
Thanks.
great content. great video. great visuals. definitely helped me understand the subject matter better. good work guys and gals.
This is hands down the shortest and best-explained video on codecs. Thank you!
I love how you turned this moistener of a beast to figure out into something pretty easy to understand and way more manageable!!!
Wow this was interesting. I hope you guys will do more on this subject.
Really appreciate the effort put in to this video. I'm completely new to all of this and I could just about keep up with everything said/shown. I would love a video on audio codecs too produced by the same people =].

Excellent breakdown. Thanks!
excellent video... I've heard these terms over the years without a clear understanding... thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
A quick explanation/visual(think audio bit depth) of how colors are "summed" would make this incredible video even better. THANK YOU!
With 8-bit video file formats each color channel will have a variation of 256 shades per channel. The resulting combination of 256 shades each of red, green and blue means that there are 16,777,216 (256 x 256 x 256) possible colors. When you move up to 10-Bit you have 1,024 shades per channel, which when multiplied in the same way equals 1,073,741,824 possible colors.
Thanks!

Life saving tutorial.
thanks for the knowledge :) awesome video
Thanks for watching, Raj!
This is what editors need to watch to understand how to process and transfer Codex then when they encounter a problem.... They can just problem solve without watch all these long a** exporting UA-cam videos that only show you how to export at H.264 at match source high bitrate but not acknowledge when the export comes out all glitched and crazy
great video thanks
Very helpful!
Great, thanks!
If content creators had the same hability to handle quite complex subjects for newbies I wouldn't be watching this video
PERFECT!
Thank you
Are capture bitrates always CBR?
in detail thank you
wow so helpful !
Thank you for this video.
Just a clarification, on a Canon camera while recording, All-i is the intra frame and IPB is the inter frame compression?
Canon has added two compression formats- Interframe (IPB) and Intraframe (ALL-I) in the new generation mid and high-end EOS DSLR featuring DIGIC 5+ Digital Image Processor.
IPB and ALL-I are essentially different methods of compressing movie files. There are varied benefits to using either IPB or ALL-I compression configurations. Videographers can choose the compression format base on shooting subjects and post production need. >Mark
@@BandH thank you for the reply :)

Thanks for watching!
Having studied (spend..) 2 years video editing to find out in a 8 min video the meaning of Codecs...
I only wish I could edit like the person who made this :O
Aye, Gang you nailed it well even a 7yo would get it on gang.
Does that mean that 4:2:0 sub-sampling leaves you with only a quarter of the original resolution of, say, an HD file?
No, resolution stays the same, but the image will look noticeably worse.
Green channel will be full resolution but other 2 channels will be quarter each. Subsampling part of the video is not very accurate.
Any recommendation of book to study codecs from video editor's perspective?

What's the difference between 12, 14, and Raw?
What about CBR and VBR? Nice video! Tks.
What would you like to know about CBR and VBR. They are not codec or file formats.
