  • Ryuzo's Death and Boss Fight - Ghost of Tsushima Cutscene (Ghost of Tsushima Cinematics)
    Description
In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan. As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands as one of the last surviving members of his clan. He is resolved do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.
    • In War-Torn Tsushima, Ancient Beauty Endures: In this open-world action adventure, you’ll roam vast countrysides and expansive terrain to encounter rich characters, discover ancient landmarks, and uncover the hidden beauty of Tsushima.
    • The Rise of the Ghost: In his quest to reclaim Tsushima, Jin must seek support from old friends and new unlikely allies. He must break away from tradition, become a new kind of warrior, and protect what’s left of his home at all costs.
    • Mud, Blood, and Steel: Challenge opponents with your katana for an immersive samurai combat experience, master the bow to eliminate distant threats, and develop stealth tactics to disorient and ambush enemies with surprise attacks.

Ryuzo was pathetic, honestly. He was too proud to ask Jin for a job after losing to him in the tournament, but not too proud to become Khotun's B without even trying to fight him off, nor too proud to try and save his own skin at the end, even after all he had done to protect a bunch of child killers.
Jin deserved better. Ryuzo in the other hand got exactly what he deserved.

@@people2chronically-online Simp behaviour. Tamoe killed an untold amount of innocent people but she was forgiven by the fansbase after batting her eyelashes. Her reasons for it were completely selfish and she didn't end by becoming a hero. Ryuzo while wrong as well did it to feed his men and was trying to save lives. He realized he was in too deep too late and lost control of his men.

@@dohk1105 I would rather simp tomoe than a traitor like ryuzo, in the last mission with tomoe she explains what really happened, she was captured and forced to work, people she killed were already being tortured by mongols, she gave them a quick death not out of anger or hate. According to her she always tried to convince mongols to not kill innocents although failed because she was not in control, even told them to stay away from jin and her sensei. Ryuzo is pathetic in every way, feeding his men was just an excuse, he did not care about his sadistic men, he threw them to their deaths just to please khan, could not even own up to his mistakes in the end. He only ever tried to reason with jin when he realized he or his men can't defeat him, otherwise he came for his head in their first fight.

I can't really understand why so many people feel bad for Ryuzo. Him and the Straw Hats had the best chances (aside from Lord Shimura's army and Shogun's army) to fight back the Mongols, yet the act like pussies and scumbags during the whole game, torturing their own people.

      Robert De La Torre
He was a great friend to Jin before the events in the game, so a player doesn’t see any of this (I doubt that there even was a cutscene showing their past relationships). The first impression about Ryuzo the player gets is when he starts bitching about the lost tournament, implying that Jin should have let him win. And from this moment it only goes downhill.
Mind, that Jin constantly meets hopeless weak peasants resisting the Mongols, but the man having a small army decides to join the enemy.
By the way, I don’t have a problem with him as a character, he can be whatever the plot needs. I just surprised seeing so many people feeling bad for him, when he got the consequences for his actions.

Ryuzo wasn't a bad guy. He just made bad choices. Most of which wasn't even for himself. It was for his Straw Hats. He did what he had to do the same way Jin did what he had to do as the Ghost and Shimura criticizes him. He should have surrendered when Jin asked him to but he didn't. My only problem with this was that Tomoe was also kind of like Ryuzo but they let her go.

He did what he thought was right. His men were starving, Khotan Khan offered them food and shelter in exchange for killing Jin. It's true that Jin said that Lord Shimura might make him a samurai if he rescues him, but even if he did, then what? Lord Shimura would send them to their deaths, just like he did back on Komoda Beach. Although, it was pathetic when he tried to avoid being punished. Not saying Ryuzo was in the right to betray Jin and his country, but I can at least understand what his motivations were for doing it.

If I was in Jin’s place, I would have framed the “dishonorable Ryuzo” for poisoning the mongols. the story would work out like this: “I received an message to meet him inside Castle Shimura alone. Knowing its a trap, I headed inside anyways to avenge Taka but when I got inside, the mongols were all dead and Ryuzo revealed to me in his desperation after losing all his men, killed everyone of them to prove his allegiance to me wanting me to say he was my spy all along. The English version ironically felt more authentic than the actual Japanese voicing due to the bad lip syncing. Also certain scenes were more impactful for me personally in English. It just feels easier to understand there emotions in that moment compared to the Japanese dub.

If I could have written this differently, I would not have written Ryuzo to have tried to lie his way back into Jin's good graces. It felt pointless at that point. I mean, at best, yes, they wanted to convey fear. "Ryuzo knows he messed up".
But I think that up to this point, they had him well written. He didn't NEED to be a coward, per se. He could have been adversarial while still maintaining a solid stand on his belief of trying to look out for his men. In fact, his feud with Jin had this beautiful artistic symmetry to it, in that Jin was an official samurai backing his recruits, and Ryuzo was a Ronin backing his. You can equate that to a cop, and a lieutenant in a gang or mob. They could have feuded as friends, which is a very common theme in Japanese films.

he was a coward, in their first fight he sold jin, he came for his head. I am tired of this 'equally right' but on different sides troupe. food was just an excuse, he just wanted the easy way out by helping the winning side no matter how many innocents died, i like how game did not justify his actions, if it was hollywood they would have given him a redemption arc.

Not mad at you at all. However, from a practical point of view...Ryuzo betrayed his country and Jin once before. To take him in afterwards would be a major risk to Jin and his allies. I don't blame Jin for killing him and tbh even though they were best friends Jin could never trust him again. If Jin was to not kill him then the other option Jin best had was what he offered Ryuzo which was to surrender, but even then he would most likely just be executed. At the very least, Ryuzo got a warriors death.

    • @CidGuerreiro1234
      @CidGuerreiro1234 2 роки тому +1

Ryuzo had a chance to do good even after betraying Jin the first time. Jin would have forgiven him right there but he chose to become Kothun's lapdog instead. And in the end he was still trying to save his own skin, so I don't buy the noble act of doing everything for his men (a bunch of child killers, by the way).

    • @toddpacker1015

Jin recruited Ryuzo in the fight against the Invading Mongols. The only thing Ryuzo had to do was follow through stand united the entire Straw Hat clan with Jin, Yuna, Lady Masako, Ishikawa and Shimura. Yet he chose to betray his own people. Unforgivable.
