      @@Etienne_H I really don't think it's the questions that are the issue, but rather the delivery. I have *NEVER* liked Katie Couric as a journalist doing an interview like this. She was much better as an anchor. The way her voice just digs when she asks a question of a vulnerable person is what makes it feel like she's asking "stupid questions." Don't get me wrong, I love Katie Couric as a journalist, especially as an anchor, but not in this capacity.

      It was the way in which she stated or asked the question. To me it just does not come across as sincere, only in the capacity of trying to get a reaction. I guess this is why her show failed.

    • @DarianCaplinger
      @DarianCaplinger 5 років тому

      @@sefa9132 She was always that way, even back when she was on the Today Show. She was great as an anchor, but not doing interviews, especially when they involved emotional situations. As you said it, she never came across as sincere, she comes across like she's only trying to take advantage of a person in their time of need, and just digs in like a vicious pit bull that won't let go. She should have stuck to positive themes on her show, it probably would have gone very well for her.

      Its just me It kills me that the mayor of Kokomo, IN had the gall to proclaim that his town was "portrayed unfairly" in the TV movie. Let's see, Ryan had to quit his paper route because the subscribers on his route cancelled their subscriptions because they, "didn't want him giving them AIDS." When he won his court battle and was able to return to school, literally half the students were held out of school by their parents. He was routinely told, "WE KNOW YOU'RE QUEER!!!" by his neighbors and other passersby. And, some maniac tried to kill him by firing a bullet through the front window of the family home. The family relocated because they were not safe there any longer.

    Ryan will never be forgotten! I salute his very strong and brave soul! He was such an extraordinary young man. I'm so sorry for all that your family endured and for the loss of your son. I am a mom, I was a single mom w/ a 4 year old daughter when I was told that I was HIV + in 1992. I have been living w/ HIV for 32 years. Today HIV/ Aids is managed very well, w/ better medication as long as you remain on your meds. Because of Ryan and his family's fight, I am able to apply for Ryan White funding if at times I lose insurance, which I am very grateful for.

    i remember when this was going on. The news , magazines, everywhere. The mother fought so hard for her son. He was always in the news and they were always doing fun raisers and teaching people about HIV. Everyone in his home town were afraid of him. Very sad how this all happened to him, but through it all he was a brave boy. RIP little boy. The world misses you and loved your spirit. Today people are still fighting for the cause.
