And after every update, the dev has to fix RCEs broken save file, because for some strange, unexplained reason it takes ages to load all the roads and rails.
I haven’t played the game myself but I think I know what caused the traffic issues: Because you didn’t send uranium to the nuclear plant, you lost electricity, so you could not use the pipes for your CO2 and whatnot. That’s why you see so many CO2 trucks that aren’t normally there, the pipes weren’t pumping
Its a good theory but carbon doesn't use pipes, and pipes don't use power. It's probably an issue of trying to route too many things through the same road somewhere. Also, since this game is slightly unrealistic, induced demand is not a thing and Matt should absolutely increase lane capacity on roads that constantly get stuffed, like the ones near the carbon plants.
May be the reason. But leaving a road network without a single fix or observation is certain to cloak earlier or later. I really don't know why he is so aversive in fixing it, every engineer loves fixing road networks :))
Matt must be the best beta tester any dev could ask for. When you think you have fixed every, ahem, *surprise feature* of the game, here comes the Matt to build the most incredible feats of engineering never before thought possible

Hello Real Civil Architect. Nice to see you embracing form over function like a true architect. Who needs efficiency when making it look "appealing" is more important.

Something that I did to help with traffic in this game is you can stack roads on top of each other and have multiple levels of roads. So I left one block between the houses so then I could build highways in the gaps and over the existing roads so that the building resources could easily get to the houses without interfering with other traffic.
At 9 minutes and 23 seconds when he added the sound effect of the rail snapping like a bone I laughed so hard I started coughing and kept replaying it. His reaction made it 10x better.

Traffic is the real endgame boss in Infraspace, every time I try to 100% production of all resources to meet needs it always goes to chaos. Even in this perfectly efficient city of RCE!
Never played this so take my thoughts with a grain of salt, but do you have a cap on how much stuff you can store? Specifically steel, do you have to build warehouses etc to hold it all? Cause if so that may be why the traffic exploded, you suddenly used all the steel up on the train line so all the carbon and iron distribution kicked into high gear instead of having full outputs.
As long as you have one storage facility where they can be delivered, there is no cap on steel/concrete storage. Other resources can't be stored outside the queue of their production/usage facilities.
13:59 Why not so "stacked" roads? make an entrance that splits each lane off into its own road level then with each type of truck getting onto the main road put them in the correct lane initially and they should flow better.
The reason your streets were filled with standstill cars isn’t because you had to much production and no demand, it’s because you didn’t have enough strongest shape layouts to reduce the traffic efficiently.
I understand you used to be a highway engineer, Matt. But maybe these traffic issues happen because you have a main highway going straight through the city, which takes in a lot of your resources? Maybe have the main highway between districts be outside of the city, and have an on ramps and off ramps into the city?
for the rubix cube towers maybe there facades that are spinning and it has a solid core of building keeping the ridiculous architect design but not entirely causing engineers to collapse from stress induced brain aneurisms
I wonder just how much this city could avoid massive incidents destroying the population every video by having a train loop around the city. It could even be built up high, to make it form a protective wall
