What a great way to use layer cakes (10x10 coordinating fabrics, sold in packages of 40 or 42) and scraps for the handles!! I love these! ❤❤ Thanks, Deanna!
Thank you for this video! Your instructions were very clear without a lot of repetition or time wasting. I am inspired to make a bunch of these for my family. Thank you!
OMG, I am such a Grinch fanatic! So happy you picked that fabric to make this tutorial. How fun is that? Awesome tote and great idea for your craft fair!! Hugs 🦋❤️🦋❤️
Just found your video and enjoyed it so, so much. Thank you. I did subscribe so I can see what other wonderful things you come up with. I love to sew and craft as well. God Bless and keep up the great work.💕
Thank you so much Deanna, I really really enjoyed watching you create this cute and adorable little tote bag for kid’s. Any kid who gets one will truly love ❤️ it. Please stay safe and well too
i sew my tote bags just like you HOWEVER there is another way to sew them. I dont know if it is faster or not. The first seam is the top edge. Take an outer and a lining piece and place right sides together. Insert the handles and sew across. Now you have an outer and a lining with handles in the middle. Sew the other half. Lay flat, right sides together making sure the lining pieces are together. Be careful not to catch the handles and sew around all four sides. Sew the corners and turn inside out. I hope I have explained it well. ---Nancy
Love your Christmas totes with Grinch fabric Watched entire video and neglected to write down sizes Every time I try to rewatch the video it starts in the middle and the sizes were in the beginning I hope that means you are flooded with viewers but would appreciate the sizes My thanks PAT😮
QUESTION on pricing please: Deanna, I love the idea that I can use up my random stash of quilting cotton prints with this design! I just made one up with 2 inner pockets across the entire width, placed at 2.5" up from the cut bottom edges. One is divided for smaller items, the other is full sized. Then I attached a loose D. Ring strap that goes over the top between the handles, with a narrow 12" scrap sewn ito a tie on the center front. Also, I cut a pair that started with a 10×12" cut. SO, as a Stand-alone or Basic crochet/ embroidery tote, how should I begin toprice these? I'm building inventory for a 9 day event at the County Fair, and am getting so much inspiration from you!!! Thanks so much for the idea, and your reply!❤ Karen
Deanna is so talented with such a variety of craft and sewing ideas. I made over 25 cell phone purses following her tutorial. She is down to earth. Love that she mentioned her sisters.
I love this so much. I do not know how to sew but, three years ago I was gifted a sewing machine and all I ever made were face masks and I donated them. Thank you for inspiring me to put my machine to good use. You are so sweet , talented and very generous for taking the time to show the You Tube craft community how to make these. I hope you sell out of all your craft goodies at your craft show. You definitely put a smile on my face.
I have been sewing since my mother started teaching me at four years old. I am 61 now and still learning. It's a hobby that can continue to grow with you. Don't be afraid to mess up. I am my own worst critic, nothing is ever perfect. Then I look at the junk in stores and my stuff is pretty good 😂.
This is a great tutorial! The only thing I would change is instead of putting the opening to turn it inside out on the side put it on the top to save time. You’re going to do a topstitch on there anyway, to make the seam not as visible when it’s if it’s reversible
I adore your fabric choices! If you are mass producing for a craft fair, fuse a large piece of the fleece to an equal size piece of fabric, then cut several pieces of the outside layer at once. These are all simple shapes to cut out quickly. I’m not a fan of all the cutting and try to get as much of it as possible out of the way. 😊
Whenever I make bags, I leave the bottom corner triangle in (vs cutting the square out) for two reasons. The first is that if for whatever reason a thread breaks, you don't have a hole in the corner of the bag. Secondly it gives a little more stability to the bottom of the bag, especially if you're putting a bottom in it.
I'm thinking of batch making a bunch of these for Halloween, what would you price these at? They're just so cute! I made a couple for Christmas gifts last year- but knew this year I had to make some for Halloween too!
Omg i want to make these bags soooo bad, but i dont have a sewing machine anymore. I sewed years ago and this would be pretty easy. And i just loooove grinch anything. Last year i changed my tree to a grinch theme. I usually try not to watch your sewing videos cuz it makes me want a sewing machine again lol. Sorry. TFS.
This was so wonderful to watch. I love paper crafting, I so loved sewing. I haven't done any sewing in about 7 years. I had to get my machine fixed. So I will be making some of these baskets. I made all the guys ties and cummerbund in my 2nd , and made my daughter's gown for my wedding. and a gown for her father's wedding , she was a bridemaid.
Instead of backstitching you could shrink your Stitch length to a 1.0 or a 0.8 only about four or five stitches and that will lock your Stitch also then you don't see a back stitch anywhere on your item.
Did I miss what price tag you put on this for craft fair with goodies ? I got exact fabric at Hobby Lobby except polka dots for inside. It turned out so cute. Thanks a bunch for this tutorial!
So cute! Quick question. What is the stabilizer that you use? Is it the same interfacing you showed on the bolt or are you using two different types? I am very new to sewing and just want to make sure I get the correct materials.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been watching your channel for about two years now since discovering you… and you’re a talented lady. I’m definitely making these bags for Christmas gifts filled with goodies for my grandchildren and great grandchildren.
So darling! I’m going to a quilt retreat with 8 girls and this is the perfect little gift I’m going to fill with candy and treats for each girl to have by their tables. Thank you for this video 🎉❤
I've watched this so many times - I just love watching and love the fabric - especially with the RED striped fabric! May I ask - did you cut your straps 9 X 2.5? If making a larger bag, would you cut the same width, but possibly longer? Makes me happy to hear the holiday music at the beginning! Thank you!!
Did you use fusible fleece? It looks like it….but I thoughT you used Pellon decor bond type of interfacing? Also, what’s the seam allowance? Maybe I missed something. Lol
Hi love ur channel…. I do have a question about the pelon and infusible material. I just started learning to sew. I’m confused on which one to use or is the same? Thanks
there is no way I can turn that thick of a fabric with my arthritis, I nestle them together and stitch the top instead. That's how I make my tote bags and I have made the baskets the same way, works great!
I'm not a fan of the Grinch but must say the fabric is adorable. And the striped interior is perfect. Good job! I love making bags....large and small. Such fun. I enjoyed your video very much. Thank you!⛄❄🎄🎁
1st time to your channel, great video; love to sew but never enough time. These look like i could have enough time to cut 1 day & sew the next. I agree N TX is brutal/miserable right now😊
Love that you are so thorough! I love making totes of all sizes. Something occurred to me recently, so I'll mention it now. I "collect" all my sewing waste suc as in pins, needles, blades. I recycle plastic jars as a container it put it all in, then on hazard waste collection day, I drop it off. Makes me feel good that my used needles, pins, blades won't end up in the landfill - hopefully!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, i was looking to make a tote bag for my crochet stuff to take with me, this is perfect! Will give it a go! New sub here all the way from the Netherlands 🇱🇺 Tfs, 🤗 Sandra
These are super cute. I am not good at sewing, unfortunately. These bags would be awesome for any holiday to put little gifts in, and it would be a gift in itself 😊 thank you.
Such a great idea and size. These are so sweet and look so simple. I have 2 weeks of school left, and then I will be able to get my craft on, lol. I'm so excited. Tyfs. Hugs
I also was gifted a sewing machine. Sadly, have not used it much, but you made that look fairly easy. I am most definitely going to try this. Thank you for the inspiration!
First time viewer! Very cute gift bag. My cousin LOVES the grinch!🥰 I am going to make one of these using the same fabrics. I know she will love this for Christmas.🌲 Thank you!
Thank you for this tutorial, I missed this one somehow, I’ve come from watching you pack them. I will give these ago, thank you for taking the time to explain how to make these I haven’t made one before, but you done such a fantastic job in your tutorial I feel confident enough to try it. Thank you again you are amazing, I am very much a fan of all you do. ❤🎄🎅🏼☃️
Deanna, I have followed your channel for years, and this is the cutest project I've ever seen, and I'm going to make one for my granddaughter. You are soooo talented. Thank you for going step by step. As you have made it look so easy ❤

Does anyone know do you have to use double sided interfacing or will single sided be ok?

Great time saver! Good idea.
These are super cute:)
Great tip thank you
This was the movie my husband and I went to see on our first date.😊
Aww that’s sweet!
You need interfacing and stabilizer?
I just used the stabilizer
Whenever I make bags, I leave the bottom corner triangle in (vs cutting the square out) for two reasons. Secondly it gives a little more stability to the bottom of the bag, especially if you're putting a bottom in it.
These are so cute. It’s been about 20 years since I’ve sewed. Now I want to give it a try again!
How do I make them bigger?
Could these totes be reversible?
Sure
I'm thinking of batch making a bunch of these for Halloween, what would you price these at? They're just so cute! I made a couple for Christmas gifts last year- but knew this year I had to make some for Halloween too!

Did you use fusible fleece? It looks like it….but I thoughT you used Pellon decor bond type of interfacing? Also, what’s the seam allowance? Maybe I missed something. Lol
I used fusible fleece on the outer fabric and pelon on the inaide
These are awesome! I’m going to add grommets and ribbon and make reusable gift bags that can be tied shut for the snoopers in my family!
Great idea!!
Hi love ur channel….
I do have a question about the pelon and infusible material. I just started learning to sew. I’m confused on which one to use or is the same? Thanks
Hello
They are basically the same but have different thickness or texture
Those are adorable! TFS
there is no way I can turn that thick of a fabric with my arthritis, I nestle them together and stitch the top instead. That's how I make my tote bags and I have made the baskets the same way, works great!
Great tip!
I'm not a fan of the Grinch but must say the fabric is adorable. And the striped interior is perfect. Good job! I love making bags....large and small. Such fun. I enjoyed your video very much. Thank you!⛄❄🎄🎁
Thank you for the tutorial. They are the cutest bag. May i ask how much you charge for these at a craftfair.
Filled with goodies 25$
If you don't have "stuff everywhere", are you really a crafter? lol!
True!
Love, Love, Love your tote & the grinch fabric you picked out! Enjoy!! TFS & God Bless...
Love that fabric
These are adorable. Do you think these could be reversible so that when Christmas is over it could be reversed to be used the rest of the year?
If you use different fabric
1st time to your channel, great video; love to sew but never enough time. These look like i could have enough time to cut 1 day & sew the next. I agree N TX is brutal/miserable right now😊
I wish I did have a song machine but I don't. But I love that fabric. Thank you for sharing.
It’s adorable
Where did you get this able fabric please?
Hobby lobby
