every time i feel like ive come to a pretty decent level of mixing and creativity in my instruments this guy comes in and humbles the fuck out of me lol
This guy has worked with some of the best producers with effectively no realistic budgetary limits. "NO, I HAD A BUDGET LIMIT OF $1 MILLION". Yeah, most people don't get loans like that, Buster.
the thing is that you can just bounce shitton of processing to ease up the CPU load (even if you have something like M3 mac, 14900K or 7950X3D), and to make up your mind ofc.
Quite honestly one of the most monumental, soul crushing bass tones ive ever heard in my life. Top quality shit, and it really ties their whole sound together.
Is that 4khz LP filter? Ha I do the same it’s amazing on the high end. Yup after 4Khz it’s just buzz noise. Great video. 4Khz is a disgusting frequency for guitars also. Learned this from Joey sturgis.
what's your methodology to replicate all these tweaks into a live setting? Would that be a whole different approach, or do you have a way to transfer the essence into a live rig?
Do you guys find this bass tone the most hard/brutal/intense/solid or for example Periphery Djent tone or others djent tones? I still find dark glass more hard hitting for me bc they sound more full or bassy or punchy, i dont know how to express it, but more its scary, the less its hard to me. I am just thinking about it for fun. 🙂 Anyway its great introduction :D
he probably approaches this as if it were layers in photoshop. each time you do a correction you create another layer (eq in this case) and in the end you could have easily done the job with less than half of that and end up in a mess. organizationally speaking
because the style and sound Buster Odeholm goes for requires this amount of processing, and like others stated he approaches plugins like layers. you would not be able to get the results he’s going for with the approach you’re mentioning
26 plugins to get an average bass tone....8 Q3 EQ's, 2 Powair that he doesn't know what the settings do..(his own admission), Soothe...to compensate for all the stupid EQ moves and "tone matching".... Really, is this the best content that URM can share and then expect people to pay a subscription to watch someone fumble about...Not really very educational or even entertaining. Just..well..it's....crap.
@@SnuffRaduWAN Dude, I'm not the one trying to sell you something.. I have nothing to prove or brag. I do me. Just pointing out the amateur nature of the video. I'm sure Buster is a lovely dude.
@@waserpolURM helped me a lot figuring out how to mix, especially from these short UA-cam videos. There is no right or wrong, if it serves the song, it can have 1000 plugins. I've found out about clamping the high end with ProMB to get rid of noise, and I'm going to apply this to my mixes aswell, through this very video. You're just salty on whatever reason. If you're so good, why don't you sell some mixing courses made by you? I'm sure you're better than everyone at URM. ✌🏼

I feel u
I feel the same
They call that BUSTED.

You have guys that tell you to keep it simple and then there's Buster running 40 plugins on the bass track
the thing is that you can just bounce shitton of processing to ease up the CPU load (even if you have something like M3 mac, 14900K or 7950X3D), and to make up your mind ofc.
Odeholm's mixing techniques are insane. Brutal sound!
Buster is not afraid to add a plugin, that’s for sure!
The bass eq moves at 6:15 make such a huge difference wow
Especially the eq top right with the low end boost, absolutely insane
1:21 BRO IM TRIPPIN, this is gold.🙏
Quite honestly one of the most monumental, soul crushing bass tones ive ever heard in my life. Top quality shit, and it really ties their whole sound together.
6:16 Felt like my face got smashed with the hammer, good god this tone is heavy
Question: Did the band try to profile this sound, so they could use it live? Would this be possible?
There's so much processing and automation. You could profile it, but i think it'd be pretty disappointing.
buster is just on a whole different level

Depends. You can't really nuke that region entirely, as that's where a lot of the bite comes from.
This level of distortion is Jazz to my ears.
I’m really liking slates amp sims also like a lot. The bass comes out so good and easily
What is causing that roll like effect on the tail end of notes @03:00

Darkglass x ultra
Let's do "bus stuff"
Does anyone know how to get TSE X50 v2 full version? Only demo available on site
that is awesome!
11:39 when im ready to meet god

Actual bass will always sound better.
im just starting to get into this stuff but damn man i dont have all these plug ins haha
It's funny, your recording set up is so dialled, when you tried to make a "hiss" sound, it got caught by the processing and cut lmfao!
My man got twice the plugins on the bass as I do on an entire track
sounds like a bass falling down a flight of stairs
We need buster he is a genius
i thought i'm good at this until hearing what people like Buster, Nolly, Jens, et al are doing.
Tasty nasty bass tone 🔥🤌🏻
Best Metal mixing Engineer at the time 🤘🏼
What a genius
So... for the most part ... that's bass?
what. the. fuck.
My God, why so many plugins? I've seen a lot of people mixing metal and they don't even use 1/8 of that. Why not record using external gear anymore?
Because it’s what the mix is asking for🤔🤔
he probably approaches this as if it were layers in photoshop. each time you do a correction you create another layer (eq in this case) and in the end you could have easily done the job with less than half of that and end up in a mess. organizationally speaking
Because that's what it takes and that's his workflow. End result speaks for itself
It’s how most people do their own, that’s what this course is for
because the style and sound Buster Odeholm goes for requires this amount of processing, and like others stated he approaches plugins like layers. you would not be able to get the results he’s going for with the approach you’re mentioning
bruTHALL
might as well just call it bruThall 😅
top tier producer
I'm sure all of that was unnecessary
Jesus Christ lmao

So many steps for it to sound like absolute crap...
