Laying it on heavy with the dad jokes, the absolute mad lad.
Hoping Sony comes out with something in the 16mm range for the G series lenses!
How good are the 24mm lens for landscape photography for high resolution cameras when you want to print very large pro quality prints ? I have the Sony 24mm 1.4 GM, but I also want a more compat and lightweight 24mm lens.
Have a fun trip in South Korea! I'm looking forward to your next video!
Pleeeeaase dont post thumbnails with a mask on. It's really distracting and disturbing.
완전 기대되요.
My goodness, South Korea looks amazing! Happy to see you and Vivienne traveling again. Great video as always!
Excellent review, appreciate the sample shots and the descriptions, very well done. Thank you for doing these videos!
Great to see you out of quarantine and enjoying photography!
Beautiful pictures. Thank you so much for the review. Love watching you and Vivian.
Long time Korean subscriber passing by
와우~~ Are you in Korea now?
I didn't expect to see you in Korea.😍😍😍
I wonder how long you are in Korea
I wish I had a chance to meet you in person
I hope the trip to Korea will remain a good memory.😍😍😍
Thanks a lot for this video review of all three of these lenses Jason!!! I can always trust your videos with your knowledge!!!
Legit review, man! Loved the shots you took to showcase them. I'm saving for the 50 1.2 GM though.😅
im working on that video next!
Thanks for the video!!! I'm gonna get the 50mm and am so excited about it. I have the 85mm but need something in the 50mm range. All the photos you took and showed were amazing!
very excited that you reviewed this trio, I'm currently looking to upgrade to either the A7C or waiting for the A7iv... but these lenses seem great for hybrid shooting and travel... since I travel a lot for work. thanks, brother. glad you and the lady got to enjoy South Korea.
Just picked up an A7C after watching lots of your videos. Gonna make lots of great videos here in Korea. Enjoy your time here! :)
When I pack for travelling I have such a hard time choosing between the 20mm + 28-75 or the 20mm 1.8 + 35mm 1.8 + 85mm 1.8 (my absolute favourites but in some cases the zoom is more convenient than the wider aperture until it gets to low light!) - I think for personal stuff I just need to trust pushing the ISO with the zoom when needed as 2.8 is still great and useable in most cases :) the 85 is just SO sharp when I do use it, and the 35mm is my go to walk around lens usually. The total weight is roughly the same, but the primes are lighter on the camera individually.
I got the 50mm a few days ago and have tested the focus on objects. It's ok. Not stellar. But when I added an extension tube on it, it was pretty dang great at close up object focusing. I'm using it for a music video shoot soon. Hoping it performs well for eye auto focus tracking.
This. This is what I’ve been waiting for. Affordable, lightweight but high build quality g primes. The 40 is the most interesting lens for me.
Definitely excited about that 24! Having a Sigma 35, there are many occasions where I need JUST a little more room (and serious weight reduction!)
Holy crap! I am a big fan of you and visited my country! Welcome! I already have Sony FE 24mm 1.4GM, however I really want that lens because of the compactness.
Thank you so much for this thorough review!
Honestly these lenses are great but I still think for almost everyone, the value point is still with the f1.8 normal primes sony makes. The 35 and 85 are light and compact for their fast aperture and if you're wanting to be a bit more serious you've got the 55 zeiss which is an absolute beast of a lens and a favourite lens for casuals and pros alike. Imo the G badge and aperture ring don't justify the price for slower primes. But these may be perfect street lenses especially if you're planning to do a lot of photography in the rain since these are really well weather sealed, smaller than the f1.8 primes and built well.
Love the video! Great insight for people who are looking to buy their first lens
Thanks for mentioning the Zeiss 55 1.8 near the end. Was wondering how that would compare to the 50 2.5. Great comparisons and locations!
Absolutely agree with your reasoning ,Jason, I did pick up a the 50 G "used" on a whim but I don't love it any more than my cheapo 50`.8 or the superlative 55 Zony lens. I may pick up the 24G though to have a lightweight wide for my beloved A7C. Smaller is stealthier!
welcome to korea! enjoy ur time here and hope to see some more korea content soon!
these are very tempting given their sizes BUT they will never replace my 35mm GM 1.4 as walk around lens. Great review and great place to visit
good review :) and id agree with you that the 24 and 85 is a sick combi!
with my favourite lens being the 24GM, I really want to get a 24, 35 and 85 lens combination!
I don't think I am getting the 24G, but I love how sony is going all compact for their lenses and cameras :)
I own a tamron 17-28 so i dont know if the 24 2.8 is going to help me or not, so i guess im still going to save up for the GM.
Great looking pics! Those lenses look so little and sharp! And I am loving that pink hair!!! 💖
I'm glad you are in South Korea but I definitely wasn't expecting a "Gee" SNSD reference here 😅👍🏼
I can't believe the song is already 11 years old!!
@@JasonVong I was there 3000 years ago
I was in Gyeongbokgung palace 2 days ago!! :) hope you enjoy Korea!!
super lucky the sun came out a few times, really brightened the place up!!
I just ordered a used 50 f2.5G lens for a good price to try out on my A7C. Somehow I convinced myself that it was a good thing to do even though I already own both the 55 Zeiss and the 50 f1.8 . Guess i will be able to do my own comparison tests.ha,ha! Seriously, it was the build quality with the aperture ring and the focus hold button all in a compact package that convinced me to order it. I had been considering the 40G but suspect that the 35f1.8 which I already own and love is really the better fit. I think that the 20 f1.8 G might be the better wide angle to get eventually than the 24 f2.5G Very entertaining and instructive ( and honest) review, Jason and Vivian!
Oh wow, you just got out from the quarantine and you had to rush the review for us. Really appreciate it. Nice video ☺️
no rush! was gonna do the photos anyway :) the lenses came in handy!
@@JasonVong did you have to do a quarantine?
@@JasonVong can it deal with the resolution of the sony a1?
@@JasonVong If you would recommend 2 focal ranges for everyday shooting on an a7c from laowa 9mm (12mm aps-c is too heavy) to sony or samyang 85mm f1.8, which would you choose, if i don't like too zoomed in portraits? i want to carry them in a peak design 6 liter sling, and would have a 20 liter backpack for maybe a dji mavic and for a wildlife lens like 70-350mm, i can't decide which size and and focal range lenses should i buy, if i shooting real estate, like portraits rendaring from 24-55mm 85 is too much for me, but maybe even 55mm, i don't know love shooting wildlife, so the 70-350 because it's faster than the ff 70-300 and lighter smaller and has 75mm extra reach in aps-c mode, - lens would be a great addition to my pocket wildlife everyday shooter, the rx100vii. :D what do you think, the a7c hasn't got enough megapixels for aps-c mode and also photography? Should buy a more expensive more megapixel ff lens, than i either have the option of lower 18mm from24 using a7r3a in aps-c mode or a1 with 22megapixels, a7rvi is not fast enough and has poure low light quality, and sometimes i would like to shoot birds cats things like that in afternoon or sunset, which the rx100vii would not keep up with. :D What's your opinion Jason? I'm open about bad opinon too, please tell the truth :) Greetings from Hungary! :)
GO to Jeju! If you are in Korea, definitely go to Jeju Island and take a short ferry to a tiny island called Udo island. You won't be sorry you made the trip. Its a really beautiful natural place in Korea.
As korean, thank you JV for finally making this episode reality.
Really like how you explain the information.
This video is a great surprise! I usually watch just for product reviews. I live in Brisbane, Australia, but I lived in Seoul for 3 years and my wife is from there. I miss the place. It's interesting that you have gone there during Covid. Here in Australia, there are virtually no flights out - and the ones that exist are prohibitively expensive. There are very few people coming to Australia, but life goes on as normal in our "closed" country. It's weird, and it's also weird to see Gwanghwamun area and downtown Seoul so deserted. Tourism and international education has collapsed, but we have been effectively covid free since August. Anyway, well done! I am keen to see some more video/touristy footage!
I was in Myeongdong for the first time a couple days ago and despite never been there before covid, I definitely felt the eerie emptiness of the area. I am planning on going back to do some videos of the empty streets.
@@JasonVong yeah, wow. Myeongdong was always crazy. You felt like a sheep being herded. And overpriced, very touristy.
Dongdaemun is my favourite. You've got the Cheonghechong creek, then the Hyunginjimun gate and a nice tourist walk along the fortification wall to a small lookout. There is a toys and collectibles shopping area hidden in the back streets near the gate (if you are into that kind of thing). Have fun! I envy you.
Thank goodness you tested them on the A7C!
Stunning photos and views!!! 😍
Nice video, the sharpness is ridiculous!!!
Love the compactness of the set! That is one of the reasons why I went FUJI. All my lenses are compact and sharp enough (not "Gee Gee Gee" sharp).
For traveling purpose, if I already have 24GM. Which one that I should select for the next one between 40 and 50?
Thanks for the video, it's an interesting bag of thoughts one has to deal with regarding the lenses. I've been looking for a 40mm, 45mm-ish lens and so far have struggled to make up my mind. This might swing it, or not! Interesting focus breathing @7:30.
Hey, what do you think, which one is better - sony 24mm/2,8 vs tamron 24/mm/2,8?
Great vids as always!
Like the compact looks of the set up.
Recently bought the Sony 35mm f 2.8 sonnar and it is amazing. Such high quality
Enjoy it!!
Great choice.
Awesome work Jason. How do these lenses compare with Sigma's recently released Contemporary F2 lenses for Sony e mount?
I love the fact that they're so affordable too! I can't wait to get my hands on the 24mm
almost 600$ per each doesn't seem sooo affordable.
@@OUCGN compared to the master ones thats 600 bucks more ? It’s definitely affordable.
Yes but if you got 24-70 2.8 gm don’t you think it is a better buy? 2.5-2.8 are not such a big difference and you will get till 70mm. Well I am not sure about those new prime lenses.
Great overview! How do you feel about the A7C these days?
Hey what would be best for landscape photography like waterfalls out of these three and just great still shots? Would really appreciate your opinion!! Love you videos btw superb tbh!
I was confused as to why Sony is releasing the 50mm f/2.5 when the f/1.8 is so much cheaper, but glad you showed why.
My f/1.8 whilst cheap and decent for photos, is horrible for video due to slow focusing & loud focus motor! This just looks to be a high quality compact version!
Glad that this video helped illustrate that!
Thank you Jason.
The 50mm 1.8 is amazing lens! Especially for the $$ used more for photos over video for sure
Bingo! Exactly what I was thinking.
OMG!!!!!!! Did you come to Seoul? Welcome aboard Jason!!!
thanks for good review, I want to know your opinion, 24mm f2.5 or 28mm f2?
Great review Jason. Thanks for being so thorough. I feel like these lens make a ton of sense from Sony and the A7c. But the Zeiss 55 1.8 and Sony 35 1.8 are still superior.
Would you recommend these if one already has the zeiss 35mm f2.8?
welcome to Seoul Vong! nice video~
I've taken many photos of gyeongbukgong palace but nothing comes near yours... you're really amazing🔥🔥🔥
we got super lucky! it was hailing an hour before we went in and the sun came out a few times so that helped! lol
Zeiss Batis 40mm f2 is probably one of my favorite lenses.
still one of mine too!
mine too, it's 35mm and 50mm in one lens!
Close Focus capability is a bonus
Is it as compact as this?
Mine too, and I foolishly sold it...terrible mistake.
@@AJCoReTV not even close. The 40mm batis is twice as long and much fatter.
INCRADIBLE SHAAARP! :O wooow
Highly recommend Tongyeong. Not too far from Busan and beautiful island shots
I would love to get the 40mm.
Pretty much perfect.
Hi Jason. I love your videos. I’m a food photographer and videographer. I have the Sony a7sii and the 24-70 g master lens. I’m ready to buy a new lens. I have a stabilizer but the 24-70 is too big I’m finding for any of the stabilizer I have used.
For my next lens, for food photography and video what do you recommend for me that can be used on a stabilizer. I noticed that you like to recommend lenses with a lot of diversity. I like the idea of doing a really nice close-up shots of food. Can you give me some ideas of what my next land should be? Thank you in advance
I can't wait to get my hands on that 40mm! I was going to travel to South Korea and Thailand but there's a 14 day quarantine even if you're vaccinated or negative so I opted for Panama. Hopefully the 40mm is out by next week so I can take it with me haha
Hey Jason! Will you review the sigma 28-70mm 2.8?
Would like to hear your opinion and a comparison with the tamron 28-75mm 2.8. 😁
Waiting for this to upload haha
I love the 24 f2.8 mm lens.It seems sharper than the 40 and 50 mm lenses.
Jason was looking at upgrading the the 50mm 2.5. I currently have the sony 50mm 1.8 and was wondering if it’s worth the upgrade? Only shoot photo’s, no video. Looking to put together a 2 lens setup. Like your idea of the 24 and the 85mm. 2nd question, would you recommend the sony 85mm 1.8?
What do u think about the kit lense. All I want in my photography is a blurry background. However I am in budget so the other lenses would cost me higher
Jason what’s better in your opinion, the Sony G 40mm f2.5 or the Batis? I can’t find any image comparisons between the two. I loved the Batis when I rented it but for the money the Sony is really tempting. Thoughts?
Like I want a 24-70mm but I wouldn’t mind just a prime 24mm. But I’m starting to see where I can use the zoom over a prime
Love your videos.. just got this camera! And im a beginner with dslr cams.. what will be a good starting lens? Hopefully nothing that breaks my bank account hehehe. Always love a bokeh effect. Thanks
Welcome !!! Jason ^^ 😀😃😄
thank you for what you do.
What are your thoughts about the Sigma i lenses (like 35mm f2 and 65mm f2) compared to these?
Keep it going JV. Enjoy some Bi Bim Ba. have you ever done a vlog on filters for Sony lenses? The Lee shtuff is so damn expensive. Im a big fan of Hoya, but trying to figure out what works best. No plans to be a freakin Ansel Adams but would like to learn more about ND’s. You speak my lingo. Too many of the pompous photo guys really talk down to all. Be safe! Movin to Japan this year, maybe run into you guys one day. Yakiniku, lets get some
Welcome to South Korea!!! Welcome to Seoul
valuable review!
Would the 24mm work well on a apsc. Looking for a nice portable 35mm with good image quality.
A tough sell when I have the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 and the 20mm 1.8 G.
i’m such a sucker for lenses with aperture rings
love your videos.
The choice of a 40 and 50 together are definitely odd to me. Those focal lengths are a bit too close to want both imo. Instead a 50, I would have offered a 65 ish lens. Maybe even a 70? That way one might want all three. Other than that I'm loving this new smaller sized trend that's been recently occurring!
do you still have the sigma 105mm 1,4 for sony e mount?
if so could you measure the length from front of the lens to the end of the lens as it came from sigma
reason i'm asking i want to know if it is the same length as my ef version with the efm adapter fitted, been having trouble finding lens pouch for it, thinking the origonal e mount case might be longer than the ef one
thanks if you can
Wow thanks, I was exactly looking for how it would be with my a7c. And I also live in Korea lol
I'm on a tight budget. Do you think a used Sonnar 35mm F2.8 Zeiss would be comparable to the 40mm 2.5?
What is the better choice , the 50 2,5 or the 55 1,8 for für 7c ?🤔
Is the focus hold button programable?
Could you make a comparison video between 55 1.8 Zeiss and new 50 1.2 G-master? 🙂
I would love to see that!
Im curious how that 24mm 2.8 G compares to the 20mm 1.8 G
I have fe 28f2, never try 24 yet. Travelling I use 1635 & 55
I will have a7cii. I am travel videocore type, not like vlogging. So wide angle like 16-20-24 i am looking for. Cant buy GM 16-35. Planning to have this 20mm and sony 50mm. As i have 4k60 crop so 20 will work like and 50 will do like 75(close to 85).
I dont use gimbal. All handheld. Lately i have been thinking about another option- save all money and get a 24-70 f4.
Cam you help me for a best deal?
Does the degree of focus have an impact on purple fringing? The 24mm was in perfect focus, while the 40mm was slightly out of focus.
Currently I own the 35mm and 85mm 1.8, would love to add the 20mm 1.8G to the mix but not gonna lie that 24mm does look like a nice deal compared to the 20... But 35 and 24 are pretty similar... decisions, decisions... haha
Sounds like you wouldn't quite be happy with the 24...you know what to do - get the one you REALLY want!
40mm Zeiss Batis or this G len for general and street?
If I own the Sony Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 lens, which is smaller than any of these new lenses, is there any reason to get any of these lenses, especially the 40mm?
Vocabulary of the day : " vlogable"
I don't know why but I laughed hard haha
Good stuff, I'm considering the 24 for my a7c and was looking for some real world samples. You have me convinced!
Can you compare 24mm 2.8 g compact with the 20mm 1.8 g ?
I kinda wanna buy that 24mm 2.8 after I get my A7c
Oh i am just about to order the Sony A7C and i will be filming youtube videos, food videography and also still photo. What lenses should I get . Can the sigma 24-70 /2,8 cover all those areas for a start?
Or do I need one of these?
Hitting the good spots!! Thanks for the review of these 3 lens :)

Hello, I'm Lee Lee, a photographer who is active in Korea. Thank you so much for capturing the wonderful scenery of Korea!
