      It bugged me too; is just about as "off" as it could be, hitting exactly in between each second marker. It's why I'm going back to mechanicals.

    I got their very base composite model for my 8yr old. I figured it a nice starter watch! Of course I found it cast away amongst other cast away trinkets, so I threw a fancy nato on it and it now often adorns my wrist. The materials and proportions are really on-point, strap included. It’s a great tool watch value. Titanium is on the want list!

    I bought an A-1S years ago after breaking numerous watches at work and/or at play mountain biking. Slapped it on a Eulit Perlon and it is still going strong today. The quartz movement and fixed strap bars make a real difference when doing something as rough as mountain biking (I've lost one and broken another watch due to failed spring bars), and the recessed crystal has kept my Bertucci's mineral crystal scratch and chip free over many years of very rough use. Now if Bertucci would just do a tough solar model I'd have found my "perfect" watch.

    The A-1R was my first purchase after deciding to dive into watch collection. I wanted a basic beater watch, one that I didn't spend a lot of money on to test out whether I could return to wearing watches (haven't worn one since I was a kid). Love my Bertucci. It's the one I pick out of the case when I have a day where I want to be prepped for some no nonsense, might run into some bullshit kinda day. The Bertucci delivers.

    A very nice watch indeed. I spent many years designing and installing highly magnetized equipment related to the food and chemical processing industry and totally understand John's comment. I've magnetized quite a few watches myself! However I have never had an issue with demagnetizing any of my Seiko watches and they tend to run as they did prior to magnetization. I did it to a Hamilton too and it was ok also. I did eventually turn to wearing a G-Shock when in close contact to equipment and haven't used my demag device in a long time. I do like this one. no fancy packaging, just a decent watch that does the job. Prefer to pay for a watch rather than the box it comes in. Excellent review!

    I've been looking forward to a review of this watch from Jodi. As some others who have purchased this watch opined, I wasn't initially blown a away by this watch, but it quickly grew on me. Much like John who supplied the watch for review, I work in a rough industry as a merchant marine, and my bertucci (same in the review) has proven itself to be quite a formidable watch. I certainly appreciate all the positives Jodi mentioned about this watch. I also would like to thank Mark, at Long Island Watch, whom I purchased my Bertucci from as well.

    I bought one that looks just like this except it came with a black strap. I have had it just over 4 years. I paid $125 and it now sells for $155. Mine looks exactly the same but has the 3 year battery not the 10 year battery and after 4 years battery still working fine. Mine has a mineral crystal not sapphire. I mostly work from home so this has become my daily wearer watch. I do have a blue and gray striped band as well as black so I can do a different look. If I go into work or out to something more dressy I may wear a different watch but day to day this is my favorite as it is so light and comfortable. I wear it in the pool as the 200 m water resistance is way more than you need. Overall very happy with this watch I didn’t realize I would like it as much as I do.

    That strap colour really compliments the colour of the titanium. I have the polycarbonate version and enjoy it's lack of weight. It has the same strap which does take a while to break in. John may have a different experience but I found that I had to wrap some electrical tape around it to smooth over where the strap joins onto itself on the underside and creates a scratchy step.

    I've been wearing 2 Bertucci watches in rotation (one in Stainless Steel & the other, Titanium) to work for about 4 or 5 years now, and I gotta say that they ARE tough as nails.
    I do concrete poured walls for a living, and I've destroyed a good number of watches between knocking them, immersing them in chemicals (mostly form oil, motor oil and diesel fuel) and getting concrete on, and sometimes, (some how) inside them. The Bertucci takes any and all abuse without ever letting me down.
    I also gotta mention that the abrasion resistance of the nylon, single pass,NATO/Zulu type straps they come with, is simply un-matched. They are quite stiff though, and don't seem to soften up much, even with constant washing and wearing so keep that in mind.
    Last I looked, Bertucci did NOT offer these straps in a 20mm size, which is a bummer because I'd like to have a couple more for some other watches I don't ever wear to work.
    Bottom line is, these watches are bad-ass strong.
    If they are NOT industrial/military grade in their durability, I don't know what is.

  • @David-nx2vm
    @David-nx2vm Рік тому +3

    I have had an A2T for over a year. The case is scratch-free but it’s not a daily driver and I don’t do industrial work either. I did replace the factory strap with an elastic band from Marc at Long Island Watch. It made the watch virtually weightless, thinner on the wrist, and eliminated snags. It would be nice if the second hand aligned with the markers. Casio can do it on a $50 Duro.

  • @bk14biker
    @bk14biker Рік тому +6

    It's not for me unfortunately. I already own a couple of original British Army issued G10 watches that are still going strong. The second hand not hitting the markers would drive me nuts and it doesn't stand out from the rest of of the crowd, it's just another m8litary field watch.

    A great review Jody, I have a couple of Bertucci's, and a welcome change from a G-Shock when you need something robust and reliable. I've been looking at this combination of features - titanium field, flat sapphire, 4oclock crown uncluttered dial. Personally I prefer the white dial dateless Boldr [NH35 and about $300] to the Bertucci. But there is often a niggle - the Boldr 38mm case size is below my usual choice as 40mm is the low end of what I like and 41-44mm seems to be what I'm happiest wearing so I'm undecided.

My first - and favorite - Bertucci was the A-6A Experior, which is sort of an unsung masterpiece of idealized/modernized military-field watch aesthetics. I'm not kidding: It's equally at home on a mountainside or an art gallery. I could go on and on about that one, and have gotten so much use out of it over the years. I've seen them come in after years of ownership and the straps are still very stiff compared to other straps. The 2nd issue I have is a complaint about titanium watches in general. I have noticed that the threading on almost any titanium watch, from bertucci to breitling, is very unpleasant feeling compared to stainless steel. To me it like nails on a chalk board. The threading on bertucci case backs in particular is quite bad. Even with that said I believe this is an exceptional watch and worth every penny when using a discount code. Never pay retail.

    I love my Bertucci A-11T. It is my work, beater and sports watch, and it has held up to alot of abuse. Soon time to get another one.

    It's a nice looking watch. Generic enough look, balanced dial that makes it look compact. I'd probably look into one if I wasn't busy collecting Casios!

    Take a look at any Casio quartz analog watch, the second hand hits the markers on most copies, even on their most affordable models! Dogs are faithful companions, hence the dog pictogram perhaps?

    Bought my DX3 a few years ago for £55, a great watch and the lume is immense. Wish I'd have bought the titanium at the time, they were only about £120!

    Yes I have a Bertucci with a green dial and I think it's great.The strap is very comfortable & its a perfect size for an average wrist.It's like a Hamilton but at half the price.

    Maybe should have opted for a tough G-Shock to survive his heavy watch wearing job... This titanium would be full of nicks, scratches and bumps in 6 months time. But otherwise, interesting piece reviewed. First time I've heard of it! Thanks for a great video (as always Jody 😊)

    8:37 I like the watch but I don't like the top-heavy look of that strap. The buckle on the strap is just distracting and makes it look too bulky.

    I've been looking at Bertucci for a while now, coincidently on Islander Watches. I love the simplicity of a field watch, I have Timex Expedition in my collection and you hardly notice you're wearing it. I think it's time to break out the credit card again!!

    That's curious, my 38mm Hamilton Khaki handwound weighs 58gr with a thick nylon strap and just under 46gr with no strap yet its a stainless steel watch with a mechanical movement. I suppose titanium is only lighter as long as the watch isn't 45% larger. Call it the Pelly effect.

    Thanks for the review - I'll keep Bertucci in mind for the future. But the second hand not hitting the dial markers would drive my OCD self up the wall. Every cheesy quartz watch I've owned have managed to nail that one; it can't be that difficult to do.

    Or a Casio. John can always pick a Casio.
    However, the Bertuci seems good. I hope you like it John (and I hope the watch may withstand the suffering)

    I think I'd have opted for the citizen promaster tough ti ecodrive instead. Cleaner, more legible dial, monocoque case, bracelet option, ecodrive movement,

    The second hand alignment would drive me mad. The watch looks way smaller than 40mm. Personally I thought it was going to be about 37 or 38mm. Nice looking watch though.
