Frankly I love both versions of the song. Each giving a different perspective of the same song and allowing the listener to experience something different. Both are great.
I'm not a T.Swift fan, but this is my favorite M&S song, and I personally think she nailed it. It's like when people on American Idol or other singing shows sing a song you love and put their own twist on it but it still sounds awesome. Props, Taylor.
I love this better than the original... most people don't, but I do! The original is great, but I love just love how she sings it. Especially at the beginning. I can hear the emotion in her voice. Well done, Taylor! This is beautiful.
I am a Taylor Swift fan, but normally her voice/vocal abilities are not too good. She impressed me with this song. She did it justice, and did not ruin it. Beautiful. Wow. I was expecting to be disappointed. I like how she didnt try to push it.
Okay. I honestly don't get how you could dislike this. It is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Taylor has an amazingly beautiful voice, live or not. I like how this song is slower than the original and softer. But, whatever. Everyone has opinions. Just ignore everyone else's opinions and focus on your own.
I disagree with people saying she ruined it because she didn't have any emotion...I feel it...so much...just because she's not like screaming or singing loudly..I think she did sooo well on this, she made me fall in love with the song.
I'm forever in love with M&S, and I am NOT a fan of Taylor Swift at all, but I actually quite like the cover. There's a bit too much of a country twang for my taste, but that's her style. This is a COVER. I doubt Mumford & Sons would want everyone bashing her and being close minded to different versions of the song, yes? Yes.
sorry but this is totally different from the orriginal version. this version is haunting and beautiful and as its from taylor, a girl, it gives it a completely new perspective. theres no comparison to be made because they are different. I love taylor swift, and i love her for covering this amazing song!
@sasyw I'll have you know that I LOVE both of them and I think both versions are amazing, obviously Mumford & Sons have a stronger connection to the song because they WROTE it but Taylor's version is beautiful all the same. Try listening to songs like "Last Kiss", "Fifteen", "Dear John" etc. written by Taylor and then we can talk about emotion.
@Jenniemolly im watching cause i love taylor swift and i wanted to hear it not because i hate the song and she did not ruin the song she made it a bit better
It's really stupid to hate on this version. It is nice and she did her best, even if the original is better (when it comes to covers, originals are almost always better).
There's obviously no way to compare to Marcus Mumford's voice, the way he sings it has incredible emotion and feeling and beauty, it just can't be beat. But Taylor's voice is pretty, and soft, and it's a great cover, but after you hear the original, nothing compares haha. In my opinion.
@hannaaam1: Yeah, you're right, and I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say one opinion is better than the other. Opinions are the spice of life. Long Live Music!
Hey guys. Different band, different feel. Grow a pair and change the song if you don't like it. I'm not a Swift fan, but i listen to it. You don't have to make a big deal out of disliking something.
@lgy05 I agree. Go listen to ¨Last Kiss¨and listen to all the emotion Taylor puts into the song. I´m a huge Taylor fan and I´m going to admit she did an amazing job in this cover.
@1997nutcracker If I were you & another artist covered my favorite artist's song, even if I didn't think it was good, I would still appreciate it. But that's just my opinion. I think it's wonderful that Mumford & Sons influenced Taylor's emotions & she covered the song. Obviously she's just like us in some ways & loves music that she can connect to. This is simply her interpretation of the song. She may not have the best voice ever but she still did her best and I think she did a beautiful job.
Stop hating on her guys, does it really matter? It's not as intense, and she did what she wanted with it. Just.... Marcus, Ben, Ted, and Winston would NOT act this way if they didn't like it. Come on, grow up.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA i suppose u can guess im pretty enthusiastic about this....
@EdithYates Please feel free to disagree, but I was under the strong impression that country and folk were very closely intertwined, both having deep roots and origins in North America. If nothing else, you have to at least admit that they both widely include the characteristic banjo, whereas most other genres of music don't.
@Thellamainpajamas British bands hate America? I cannot state that as im not in a band nor am I British. My generalizations of the American mainstream music, simply America is responsible for Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift & repetitious rap & not to mention the newest Spears singles WHICH do make Taylor triumph. Would love to compare & contrast both countries, but ill save that for the day I decide to start a blog. Keep you posted on that, don't wait up though! x
@babyblue97201 - isn't that the point of covering a song (making it your own) there would be no point if she just tried to immitate them. I think this is a great version and will hopefully turn some Taylor Swift fans on to Mumford and Sons fans.
This is amazing! She sounds great! Love this version! Love it Love it Love it! @faroutsunrise Is she commercial and boring? Where did you get that from? She's amazing! @jennaadel She's not bad. She did not ruin this song. If your ears are bleeding you should see a doctor. Bleeding ears are not good stuff.
This doesn't have anything even close to the emotion of the original, nor the build up, nor the beautiful voice of Marcus. A lot of Mumford & Sons is also in the instrumentation, which is severely lacking in this cover. Taylor Swift completely changes the mood and story behind this song.
Her voice is nice but I couldn't hear any emotion particularly in the chorus. but it's ok. opinions, opinions the lyrics are "you did not think when you sent me to the BRINK" though
i don't think that her "rage" was quite..rage-y enough. and i think she has the ability to turn every song she sings into a teenage-girl-whine... not that she doesn't have a nice voice, her music is just nothing like mumford and sons
Marcus Mumford has an extremely strong and powerful voice, Taylor does not. That is why this song was a bad choice for her, not because she has no talent.
decent cover i have to admit, but i do dislike it a bit just because i feel that every fan who finds this song for the first time should fall in love with it because of mumford and sons and not because they hear a good cover and then go and find that the original is better
okay so i would have been okay with it if she had done it WELL..... but she doesnt have the raw edge that mumford does with it...... its like..... the grain in his voice is what makes the song amazing.... her sweet innocent softness just doesnt wirk with the song AT ALL..... she's better off sticking to what she does already.
@Thellamainpajamas Haha I highly doubt Mumford and Sons would ever cover Taylor, they have far too much talent to lower their standards to the crap America produces. And also, I didnt think the comment posted at all... but the fact it posted in multiples is just great but that's besides the point :) The girl can sing, I agree, but her cover is not better then the original. Not even close.
Ok. Mumford and Sons do a way better job. Hands down. But, did anyone gain respect for Taylor Swift since she knows good music herself enough to cover it??
Frankly I love both versions of the song. Each giving a different perspective of the same song and allowing the listener to experience something different. Both are great.
i love this.....Taylor swift my favourite artist singing a cover of my favourite band
Beautiful vocals by Taylor Swift, I love it!
I'm not a T.Swift fan, but this is my favorite M&S song, and I personally think she nailed it. It's like when people on American Idol or other singing shows sing a song you love and put their own twist on it but it still sounds awesome. Props, Taylor.
um all i'm gonna say is i love this song no matter who sings it, mumford & sons is amazing and so is taylor swift .....enough said-
I love Taylor and Mumford.. brilliance!
What a beautiful song.
Looks like some people searched for "My life sucks and I need a fantastic cover to put down to make me feel better."
This is so good.
Okay. I honestly don't get how you could dislike this. It is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Taylor has an amazingly beautiful voice, live or not. I like how this song is slower than the original and softer. But, whatever. Everyone has opinions. Just ignore everyone else's opinions and focus on your own.
i really love this song from her
Its not ruined, she just cant put the same amount of passion and soul into it as Marcus does. She did really well, there is just no soul.
I love both!
amazing.
I LOVE THIS COVER BY TAYLOR SWIFT SHE MADE IT HER OWN BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT A 'COVER' IS CALLED.
I like this, much more sombre and sincere than most of her tracks.
This is beautiful.
I disagree with people saying she ruined it because she didn't have any emotion...I feel it...so much...just because she's not like screaming or singing loudly..I think she did sooo well on this, she made me fall in love with the song.
This is an amzing cover, better than the orginal. Love you Taylor
she rocked it.
I think it great.
Obviously the critics have never seen Taylor Swift live before...she is amazing...as are Mumford live.
nothing beats marcus's husky tone,it's what this whole songs about & what gives it such a haunting feeling.
this is alright, just alright i guess.
I love this so pretty!
i was with you when u wrote that song
rember me taylor hah can wait to hang out agian rember sususus super bass aha see you soon in LA
Yes.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G & B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L
The lyrics and emotions expressed in this song are just so much more meaningful when sung by a man.
I love both Taylor and Mumford and Sons. STOP HATING. End of story.
KILLED
VERY good. I DO prefer the original, but she does sound great here. (: I love Taylor

i like this better than the origional
"tell me now where was my fault in loving you with my whole heart ?" -3
@brookeorangepitt ha, really? im not a big taylor swift fan, but i love mumford and sons because how great there lyrics are.

It's called a "cover" for a reason. It's not supposed to be exactly the same as the original. This is her version...
@lgy05 I agree. Go listen to ¨Last Kiss¨and listen to all the emotion Taylor puts into the song. I´m a huge Taylor fan and I´m going to admit she did an amazing job in this cover.

Love this song :) Listen to Kate McGill's version of this song. It's honestly breathtaking.
Stop hating on her guys, does it really matter?
It's not as intense, and she did what she wanted with it. Just.... Marcus, Ben, Ted, and Winston would NOT act this way if they didn't like it. Come on, grow up.
It's not a horrible cover, she did good.
I just love Mumford and Sons way better.
like hearing this song from a completely different person but i still wish taylor had tried to put a little bit... more into it.
Make [music] not war

@ChantelleBritney it pretty much means foolish, or having a lack of common sense, etc.
this is amazing. and all of you who are complaining, well youre just jealous. so get over yourselves.
Mumford And Sons have one of the best albums of all time!
Taylor just eff off and leave actual good music alone.
@Thellamainpajamas

Neither loved it or hated it. Just think that the music has lost all its strength :\
@lgy05 try listening to mumford and sons for more emotion
@babyblue97201 - isn't that the point of covering a song (making it your own) there would be no point if she just tried to immitate them. I think this is a great version and will hopefully turn some Taylor Swift fans on to Mumford and Sons fans.
I don't think her voice is strong enough for this song and there isn't enough emotion. She made it too soft.
Love the song. I think if she sang it mad it would of helped tho. But I don't hate it. I do prefer Mumford and sons version much more however.
Bleeding ears are not good stuff.
she needs to play the same guitar, not a simplified version while also keeping the right rhythm, it doesn't compare.
Uuhm.. I didn't know Taylor covered this. But.. well.. Mumford and sons has more heart in it and.. mhh.. It just doesn't seem right..
@treenut999 i agree
@hannaaam1: Lol, I find it funny how people get possesive over ''their'' music. Music should be inclusive, not exclusive. LOVE live lounge.
This doesn't have anything even close to the emotion of the original, nor the build up, nor the beautiful voice of Marcus. A lot of Mumford & Sons is also in the instrumentation, which is severely lacking in this cover. Taylor Swift completely changes the mood and story behind this song.
@ChantelleBritney it means mistake or failings or foolishness
@XxCaroxXBxX obviously someone did......
Someone explain to me why she doesnt sound anything like this in any of her own songs?
I don't know if anybody else noticed this, but I kind of feel like she tried to add an accent to her voice...
Everyone saying that Taylor ruined that song.. ¨All you are is Mean, and a lier, and pathetic!¨
@pizzapants12 Haha, then I'm not the only one :)
I think I prefer Kate McGill's cover (katem3) better, but it is nice to see Taylor Swift branch out.
Wheres the rage in "swelling rage?"
This ist good, but nothing on mumford and sons :)
@ohthatkel love. this
Her voice is nice but I couldn't hear any emotion particularly in the chorus.
but it's ok. opinions, opinions
the lyrics are "you did not think when you sent me to the BRINK" though
@XxCaroxXBxX yeah i know sweetie...thats why i didntaha
i don't think that her "rage" was quite..rage-y enough. and i think she has the ability to turn every song she sings into a teenage-girl-whine... not that she doesn't have a nice voice, her music is just nothing like mumford and sons
how can you actually say that, you obviously don't know what music is...dont like it? dont listen to it...very simple.
@xXxRachieXBabiexXx yes im clearly the one trying to act cool...
@13sparksfly This isn't that different from the original.
HAHA the original has about 100,000 views and only 3 dislikes. Hers has 3000 views and 23 dislikes.
How about if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you and Imma let you finish..
But only Marcus' voice can do this song justice.
You should stick to your pop songs.
wow. what the fuck is this world coming to?
first Rebecca Black...now this????
okay so i would have been okay with it if she had done it WELL..... but she doesnt have the raw edge that mumford does with it...... its like..... the grain in his voice is what makes the song amazing.... her sweet innocent softness just doesnt wirk with the song AT ALL..... she's better off sticking to what she does already.
@ManCityFan15 you insult using the word "smelly" and expect people to take you seriously? we aren't 5 anymore.
you gotta laugh at all the mumford and sons fanboys
I think she makes it too soft. The original goes from somewhat soft to more powerful. I don't think she's very good at that.
@Thellamainpajamas Haha I highly doubt Mumford and Sons would ever cover Taylor, they have far too much talent to lower their standards to the crap America produces. And also, I didnt think the comment posted at all... but the fact it posted in multiples is just great but that's besides the point :)
The girl can sing, I agree, but her cover is not better then the original. Not even close.
Ok. Mumford and Sons do a way better job. Hands down. But, did anyone gain respect for Taylor Swift since she knows good music herself enough to cover it??
@XxCaroxXBx ps its not moaning its an expression of a personal opinion ;) good try tho keep it up and u might get SOMETHING right :D
@ChantelleBritney Google will tell you.
The song in general sucks! dont get mad a taylor for making it better!
Emm could you don't do that again? please.. Thanks
