- SBK 22 is an interesting return for a franchise that’s been gone for so many years, as it seems to combine the gameplay from Milestone’s other motorcycle racing games with the simulation focus and structure of other racers on the market, specifically the F1 series. Unfortunately, this all puts SBK 22 in an odd, underbaked place. Its lack of content outside of the so-so career mode means that there isn’t much content to see. Its gameplay is highly rewarding at very specific moments of success, but the time to get there can be frustratingly long and slow.
It’s a beautiful game and one that gets that much more fun when you’re that much better, but for anyone who isn’t a superfan of the sport, there are other games on the market that might cater better to your tastes without the same learning curve and tedium. It’s not a bad game by any stretch, but its lack of deep content and steep learning curve make it difficult to recommend to the casual racing fan.
I miss arcade style bike games where you didn't have to be very knowledgeable about bikes to have fun.
Same, I am still waiting for that game.
try TT isle of man ride on edge 2, it's the most fun bike game for me, it stands out from all the rest that feels the same.

@@KrisVic91 because variety, same for racing sim, I enjoy ACC, AMS2, but I still go back to Forza motorsport 7 because it's simple handling is enjoyable in a different refreshing way

Real racing enthusiasts put hours, days even weeks into understanding tracks and game physics perfectly.
This review should have been given to a motorcycling afficionado instead.

People that say it’s not realistic are smoking crack. Take off all assists including the ones on your bike in-game like tcs and anti wheelie. Let’s meet up and race show me how well you ride

It doesn't take inspiration from codies F1 games. It's a carbon fucking copy of MotoGP just with Superbikes instead.
They are motorcycles - they are ridden, not driven
With Milestone motorcycle games since Ride 4, there doesn't seem to be such a thing as "Easy" mode. The other bikes are expert riders in all modes that will overtake the player at the slightest hint of error. Thanks for the review.
Looks very similar to their other games. Definitely getting it even though I have MotoGp and Ride series.

I find ride to be different but this looks exactly like moto gp which I have. I like ride 4 better
First hour into this game and I felt the game was broken because it was that hard and the racing line was usually inaccurate of where to actually brake but now that I’m over 7 hours in I can actually drive a lap without crashing and get decent lap times on certain tracks, this game requires a lot of patience but is rewarding when you improve
Yes but they should put the word "simulation" on the title and in MotoGP 23 also,cuz even in classic mod "normal settings" its hard for who doesnt understand about riding bikes and think its gona play for fun if you put easy mod the game brakes and turns for you ,your basicly just watching the rider go lol, what im saying there isnt the right balance of Gameplay ,this both games wr made for simulation only

People in here saying ride 4 is hard, their in for a massive wake up call.. this game is very hard and theres noway around it... it's not for the average racer just looking to pop wheelies and do stoppies and win races on easy mode, it's for skilled players who want to take on the challenge of the game and put in time .

I feel like bike games are never given a proper review , talking about how hard it is to learn the track , there’s literally a rewind system, if it’s an SBK paint over of the MOto GP I’ll not be disappointed
Others here have said it but we really are overdue for an arcade style super bike racer. I don’t want to be taking turns at 150mph but I also want to be able to complete a race without absolute perfection. Give us a balance between some realistic physics and looks and then a more lighthearted approach to racing, where in pushing to hard will lead to crashes but can still play the damn game without being a pro.. I really enjoyed Ride 4 but absolutely sucked at it and it made me stop playing because I was never making any real progress and I found it just hurt the (otherwise stunning) game
Ride 4 physics are perfect to me. MotoGP 22 now those physics I hate can't even make a turn without falling off the bike wanting to do a stoppie every time you break
All you need is practice. Otherwise you can use aids like brakes and stability etc

The game is a sim. Quick tip. Soften the suspension and shorten the gears and play with the geometry until the bike plays the way you want it. Learn to turn and thus game becomes amazing

All im sking for is a bike game with a feel like ride 4 but with an enhanced physics engine, a faster sense of speed, lots of bike customization, incredible sound and an open roar space to just drive around
Try sbk22 with POV camera, I play it every day, it is lighting fast. I do manual shifting
If you like Milestone bike games, it seems like another one of those but with the SBK riders and bikes. Fair enough, but very unlikley to be different to MotoGP gameplay wise.
Isle of Man ride on the edge 2 is a perfect moto game for me. its between arcade and simulation and if you want it to be simulation you can turn off all asissts. there are many modes and tracks as well

TTIOM games are BAD. They don't even use bike physics but car physics.
I wish there was a game like forza horizon but for bikes...

This review just stinks of "The game is shit because I'm crap and the assists aren't enough to make me win". News flash motorbikes are hard to ride. You only have half as many wheels and brakes as a car so go figure it's going to take some learning to get good. When ride 4 came out everyone bitched about time trials being too hard and failing when you went off track. I'm no pro bike racer. Good but not great but damn was I pissed off when they patched it after the backlash as the game had no challenge and I was getting gold by 3-7 secs first try! When I was playing GT as a kid on the playstation it would literally take me days to get good enough to get gold. Back then games didn't have assists that basically play the game for you. Gaming difficulty has gotten so soft in racing games in recent years.
Give the developers of Rims the license and I would be happy .
A far closer representation of bike riding than the same old game engine pumped out here .
I get your idea and i also really like RIMS. But in what world is UE4 a "old" engine ?? KT engine that is used in RIMS is even 2 years older than UE4 and UE5 only got released in April 2022..

i think one of the biggest reasons is a combination of the motogp license contract demanding a updated grid with the current drivers and tracks for each season and the milestone management wanting to sell a new game each year for maximizing their income instead of giving seasonal updates until a real new game is ready to release.
its basically the same with the F1 games or the fifa series.

You don't know the first thing about motorcycle racing games, so you should give your viewers a 'i might be completely off with this review' disclaimer..
If you would understand how well they got the riding physics and feel down, you would understand that 99% of the most important content is the physics. Even the career mode is secondary because the standard season with the physics done right makes this game great.
Milestone have never listened to their hardcore'fan base from the beginning. They only implement what they want in their games.
I must admit I love the handling model of this game. it took a while i get a handle but now I'm really enjoying it
Shane about the untested career mode with rider positions all over the place and at times terribly almost unplayable screen tearing on some tracks on PS4.
If they patch it, add the old bikes and online works well, especially cross platform so I can play with my old Xbox buddies I'll be happy 👍

You said Milstone never listens, so I guess your wishes may never come true then. On a serious note, yes it is sad the MS games, in itself good games in terms of playability and handling, always suffer from the same quirks. Viz. kamikaze AI and sometimes outrageously harsh time trial limits.

I just bought and I have played MotoGP 19 as well. This game is super difficult and needs ALOT of practise to master this game.

The one who did this review should get fired or review games that he knows at least SOMETHING about. There are no "stronger competitors" in the genre. Not ONE. I don't know where that came from but Milestone has the monopoly in bike racing games for like 20 years. Since Superbike 2001, released by EA. Not since 2012. Game reviewers nowadays don't know anything.
As for the other points made in this "review".....
1) There is no "steep learning curve". The game is as simple as it can be. If there's one person out there who finds it "complex" then he/she should play nothing more than Tetris.
2) For the fans of the sport it has been one of the most disappointing games because the copy/paste physics from MotoGP don't do SBK bikes any justice. Even Ride 4 is better.
in real life both F1, MotoGP uses kerbs and milestone does not allow us to use kerbs 🙄🙄

Nice review, all the motogp games has artificial sound of bikes. Only 2019 KTM was sounded good but in 2022 it also sounds artificial

Positions are awarded based on lap times.

Well it seems to me sbk22, is much good games is not bad racing games, but they are many decent and lack of content, im sure this a good game for my wishlist soon, i give this game score 6,9/10
