    Thanks for including my Cosmos patch! Really lovely to know someone likes and uses something I made! It’s the first proper PD patch I wrote - I hope to revisit it when the mood takes me to add a compressor and maybe a reverse function.

      Yo Jezmund, it's Thomas of the Danger here. Just happened to be checking this vid as one of these available locally dropped its price into the potential snagging zone. And who has posted in the last few hours? You! And one of your patches is in the viddy. Which means I have to go back and look out for it. Questions? Is the Organelle as varied as it seems? Are there any obvious issues with noise floor etc. that might preclude its use as a "pedal" for external sound sources?

    • @jezstevens
      @jezstevens 10 днів тому

      @ Varied is the word - there are literally hundreds and hundreds of patches on Patch Storage - have a look.
      Generally I use mine for ambient beds and weird arpeggio and poly rhythm stuff so I can’t really comment on it as an FX unit.
      You can’t go wrong really - if you find it hard to get your head round persevere if not then sell it they seem to really hold their price.
      Once you’ve had it a while you can get into PureData programming - even if it’s just to tweak other peoples patches.

      …what a weird coincidence too! 🤓

    • @jezstevens
      @jezstevens 10 днів тому

      …and in terms of noise floor with a decent PSU and not running on USB I think it’s silent - I’ve never had problems and I’ve used it live quite a bit - which is hard BTW small screen and remembering what knob does what when each patch is set up differently on the front panel! Still makes for an eventual show one way or the other!

    literally this convinced me; thank you! I was wondering how synths and samples handled; and this clearly shows. The unit can produce beautiful sounds!

    Thanks! Loved the video. Would you recommend it over an OP-1 and a Monome Norns?

    • @tworoundrobins
      @tworoundrobins  Рік тому +2

      Glad you enjoyed it! As for recommendation; it’s a bit tricky as they are all kinda different. At times organelle seems like a fusion of op and norns but both do some stuff way better than organelle. For some stuff organelle seems like a better choice though. At the end of the day I think a lot of it comes down to what type of music you’re making and are interested in exploring. Personally I prefer norns but that’s mostly cos it compliments my style a bit better. Will do a deeper dive in a future video :)

      @@tworoundrobins The learning curve was too difficult compared to what sounds are possible. Not to mention that the “keys” are almost unplayable compared to even a mini keyboard. I am much more productive with a standard programmable Keyboard with a ton of presets already installed that I can alter at will.

      orac can be a bit tricky to grasp it at first but if you take some time with it you'll soon find out that it's well worth the time :) i suggest checking out loopops video on orac

    • @benjammin3714
      @benjammin3714 Рік тому +3

      I've used ORAC for a while but haven't moved to ORHACK yet which seems better, I'd probably just go straight to ORHACK in that situation. I watched technobear's videos on it and read the documentation, sorted out all the patches I wanted to download and use, and once I learned how to actually load the patches it became surprisingly intuitive. Super fun combining with external audio and midi, the mutable instruments modules are excellent.

    • @tworoundrobins
      @tworoundrobins  Рік тому +1

      @@benjammin3714 indeed. i prefer orhack simply because it kinda makes more sense for some stuff plus you have sends which is something i think lacks in original orac.

    I still cant decide beside organelle or norn shield. You said you prefer norns. I dont gave any coding knowledge so would have to download patches. What do you guys like better?

    • @tworoundrobins
      @tworoundrobins  Рік тому

      Personally still prefer norns. You don’t need to know coding to have a great time using any of them fully. Just download patches or scripts and have fun! I’m currently learning coding for norns but I’m certain I’ll dive into PD patching in the future :)

      @@tworoundrobins oh ok great thank you for this. could you tell me your personal opinion of which sounds better? I think you said norns in another video. Which one is probably more user friendly and have more functions? I assume norns? Would love to get a build kit but i dont know if they make them any more.

    • @tworoundrobins
      @tworoundrobins  Рік тому

      @@joeymc5272 norns in my opinion sounds better as well as has more functions. when it comes to user friendliness I'd go for organelle as it's a bit more straightforward. most of the patches aren't that deep which means you will get a grasp on them far easier. like I said in my comparison video it really depends on the style; if you want something thats a bit more casual but still quite powerful in what it offers I'd go for organelle. if you like more audio mangling, deeper scripts, and dare I say it more "artful" stuff then I'd go with norns.

    • @joeymc5272
      @joeymc5272 Рік тому

      Perfect explanation. Thank you so much. Now i have to try and source a norns shield kit as its been tough to find. The Reason ive leaned towards organelle more is the portability and
      i/os as well as one of my inspirations is knobs from cbp. He praises that thing and blooper is my favorite pedal so. Im not sure how much guitar related stuff you can do with norns.
