Also considering Toji got hired to stop the assimilation and she stopped at the last moment... She kinda died for nothing.

to be fair, I doubt the group would have been content with that. They seem like they would need the corpse and for her to be dead. If she was alive there would always be a chance that Tengen could have her kidnapped or she could change her mind. Plus why would they pay him if she changed her mind? She didn't die for nothing in his eyes cause he only cared for the money of it
this is semi spoilers but obvious but he needs to turn in the corpse to get the money so it wasnt for nothing
if only riko said she didnt want to get assimilated wayy sooner(since even yuki rejected it)
Its likely toji waited in the tunnel until she chose not to assimilate to kill her

Now you know why Gojo has infinity on 24/7 in present day... and why he's so focused on protecting the new generation of sorcerers.
Also why he sees potential in Maki and has her as a student. Same with Yuji, though he’s that plus everything with Sukuna.

@@royalfun1031 Her technique is innately strong so long as you fulfill the requirements. Plus she is very much unhinged so she’s less likely to be intimidated into backing down from a fight, and in a pinch she’ll be more likely to use more unconventional uses of her ability and grow as a fighter.

It's all the more tragic knowing that Gojo protecting Riko's happiness cost him so dearly in defending against the sorcerer killer's attack.
not happiness , that was his job to protect her . And he just put a barrier , its not like he was fighting someone constantly . he was putting up barrier and resting too , its like using phone but also charging it simulataneously .
he was awake for probably around 50+ hours and constantly using infinity which uses cursed energy to keep active.
he might be able to recharge his cursed energy while resting but I don't remember if that was ever explained.

@@Youalrightboi it's literally in the episode itself. Gojo suggested they stay in Okinawa for one more day, knowing that if they went back to the school they could rest easy. Geto even said he stayed up all night with his barrier active, TWO days in a row. Just because he isn't fighting someone doesn't mean he's resting. His suggestion to stay in Okinawa was to keep Riko happy.

Staying in Okinawa was Riko's idea , Obeying it was Gojo's duty .
And again . I never said holding a barrier is easy , i said , he is also resting too and eating . Only thing he is lacking is sleep .
Well Toji must also be tired by your logic , he was always keeping an eye on gojo . This type of tiredness is not a big deal for characters like gojo and toji
they did a wonderful job getting everyone to lower their guard on that last scene
Riko's flashback is the last thing they made to make everyone ignore how many death flags she has.

i tend to think he kept away on purpose and was probably lying in that scene when he was asked about megumi, since he's kind of... this guy, with his specific history and this job. if it seems like he has zero attachment to him then people won't associate him with his bad rep in the jujutsu noble families or his dark web wizard hitman thing. tragic as hell however you interpret it though

Also, fun detail, he never remembers men's name, so he gave his son a female one. Megumi, a name that means "blessing" from a guy forever cursed with bad luck

Im sure you realised this later but I'd like to say it anyway, the asimilation would have effectively killed her, at the very least killing her free will. And would have had her spend her entire existance in that tree we saw at the end. So yeah. Not that it matters anymore, since Toji spared her that fate... great reaction otherwise!
I love how they did this episode! I was so on edge the whole time as a manga reader.
Gojo let his guard down for a second and Toji got him, yet everyone letting their guards down and expecting a happy ending right after XD i do like the fact that he didn't have a cliche villain moment, he came in, and killed her, finishing his job. No long explanations, no announcing himself, nothing.

I'd talk about it more once the next episode comes out, but this moment highlighted that being the "strongest" is a legitimate curse for Gojo. Despite all his power, he couldn't stop Toji from killing Riko. It's why he's so invested in protecting Yuta and Yuji from the higher up, so they could live and enjoy their lives like Riko wanted.

When Toji headshot Riko, I sat in silence for ten minutes. I ended up replaying Riko’s headshot scene about 3x, and I kept repeating to myself “A…headshot? A…headshot? A…HEADSHOT!”
First half of the episode Alicia really thought she knew what was about to go down. She forgot what anime this was for a second. Also, Geto's immediate face and attitude change hurted me.

I love how sudden her death was. Togi had a job to do and as soon as its in reach he does it quickly. Shes a regular human so a quick shot to the head is quick. He came to do a job and he got it done.

This is Daddy Fushiguro, guys! He & Maki both are Zenin failures since Toji absolutely don't has any Cursed energy at all but Maki has it just a tiny amount, nether they have any kind of Cursed techniques. They're almost same as regular humans but with more physical strength. And still they are able to keep up with the strong sorcerers

Having the simplified character animations, and less detail lines, has been so great for the production of this season. It feels even more like the gradient color tones of Bleach now, which i know it was partially inspired by. It's easier to animate, providing us with more gorgeous sequences, plus it allows for a way to make the comedy scenes more expressive similar to how One Piece does. Can't help but love geeking over the animation. Love your thoughts on this stuff too, with your knowledge in cinematography.
A bad guy who actually gets the job done and doesn't spend an hour monologuing about his evil plan I can respect it.

This episode went hard, but I can´t say that it got much of an emotional reaction out of me. We know gojo survives and I saw something bad happening towards the end a mile away. Did not however expect just a straight up headshot... gotta respect an efficient villain though, thats rare these days
