Dude not only do I love this channel, I don't want to think about going on without it. Too many times I've had woken up sad for legit reasons on a Sunday morning and Johnny has taken some of that weight off my shoulders.
I've pretty much given up watching all of the UA-cam channels I was religiously watching since 2010...all except this one. I can't imagine a time where I stop watching The Happy Console Gamer! I'm 43 now and this channel has been part of my life for over a quarter of it!
Last year I got really sick and started suffering from severe anxiety due to insomnia. My wife use to put on youtube and put your videos run non stop. It was the only thing that will make me relax and fall asleep. Now Im back to 💯 and I still watch your channel every day. Thank you 🙏 for all the great content. You are the freaking best!!
One of the great things about these videos is how all over the place the stuff is. It isn't just the newest PS5/Xbox/Switch games, it's stuff from EVERYWHERE.
You make gaming positive and special when many of these gaming channels are just about the drama and negativity. I appreciate what you are doing so very much and I hope you continue forever.
I just love this channel. Couldn't stop smiling when Johnny was talking about the model. Such a nice & warm feeling you get when you hear a story like that.
Hey, thanks for discussing the book! By the way, did you catch the Easter egg? Down in the corner by the page numbers, there are sprites of the characters. As you flip through the pages, you'll notice that the characters in the corner coincide with when they join your party. But if you keep flipping, you'll see their walking animations as a flipbook.
Why do you make cool stategy guides like this then associate yourself with a gang of internet criminals like the Sarucrew who all go around doxing people? If you bought anything from DJ I'd be VERY careful.
What a phenomenal story at the end. There’s nothing quite like the end of a hunt for something very vague but very memorable from your early years. You best summed it up by calling it an “out it body experience”. I’m glad you had closure on that memory and I loved that story!!!
I love the fact you're such an avid game maniac who really goes out of his way for all these coolly nostalgic gems...That homemade guide for Phantasy Star is awesome. 🥳🤗😎
You’re one of the best storytellers when it comes to things like this. I had chills and the nostalgia was real. Love this channel and love how you embrace the lifestyle.
turn 40 this year and i seen your video 10 years ago about 40 years old gamer, well i guess i just over thinking why am i 40 years old now and still love games and anime. your videos related to even my age, and that ninja turtle BGM, my head just moving by itself when i heard it 😂
Johnny thank you so much for showing the fun positive things about games/anime/ collectibles we love. There's too much negativity all over and it's refreshing to see someone talk about this stuff.
Your passion for Japanese games and anime is so infectious, I really enjoy watching your videos each week and appreciate the wide variety of things you talk about on your channel. Thank you for another great watch and never lose that passion for your hobby!
Johnny you are so important to the gaming community. The way you describe moments from the past and the feeling you get from it . Their is just so much we can relate to. You are the best Johnny..
Damn, I've been beating my ass with yardwork all weekend, but I'm taking a break for some HappyConsoleGamer, and this is the legit chill break that I needed!
I have this early memory of playing a Genesis game where you get new outfits that give you abilities. It was a buried memory for decades. Finally after years of searching here and there, watching your videos made me realize it was Syd of Valis! How random!
I hardly ever have any idea what you're talking about because I never got into video games growing up or otherwise, other than the original gameboy and the nintendo 64, both for which I have great nostalgia. But I watch your videos all the time and every moment is a learning moment for me. It's a pleasure to hear your "ramblings" as you say. I just wanted to say I enjoy every second of it, and thank you for your very uplifting and entertaining vibe that you offer viewers.
Stellar Blade looks great, it's on my list for sure! I always support the games that I get review copies for as well by buying them physically for my collection.
Good video. Im playing my disc version of Stellar Blade offline so i can experience the game uncensored. Im also playing Helldivers 2 on my Playstation 5.
I always love this channel.i love how passionate he is about his stuff and it's contagious because I'm always getting more hyped and passionate for my own game collection because of Johnny 😂😂😂
If anyone ever wonders how Johnny can have such a great memory, recalling all these specific details from his childhood and reciting niche information about 30+ year old games/anime: it's because of what he discussed in this episode. Framing every experience as a special moment. We've gotta stop mindlessly consuming games/shows/music and just slow down for a second, really appreciate it, and make a memorable moment out of the little things!
Johnny! The Music for NES TMNT is so embedded in my Brain with so much Nostalgia!! I love that there is a vinyl with the music on it. I must have a copy as well!!!!!
Johnny man I know exactly what you mean about taking a moment with a physical tangible thing, or a movie/show/etc, and really connecting and reflecting. Good stuff.
I've got a mystery game. I remember my grandad showing me some games in the 90s (UK), I remember using a black keyboard, pretty sure they were also cassette based games (so possibly an Amstrad console). It's really hard to be sure but I think the graphics were a black background with only green linework to draw the level/characters. The game in question was a side scroller type game, you played as a spy or something like it, and i want to say your character wore a fedora-like hat, but the more i think about it the more i doubt myself... That's pretty much all I've got. It's a very old memory, but I've been interested in finding out what that game was for years.
In the early 90s my parents used to take me to a local arcade at South Shields beach in the UK. I would always play beat em ups as they were some of my favourite types of game at the time. This one arcade had a particular beat em up that none of the other arcades had and I would always play it whenever I was there, yet I never knew it's name. As the years went by I was never able to find it, as I could only ever remember that you could play as one of two characters and one wore a karate suit and at the end of the fight an ambulance would take you away. Now I would literally think about this game on a regular basis for literally decades (I seriously did) until one day on the 24th of January 2021 when I found it. By chance I was watching a UA-cam video of all arcade beat em up's from the 80's & 90's and all of a sudden a 20 or 30 second clip of the the game I was looking for was just on the screen in front of me along with it's name "Street Smart" and it was by SNK. It's just one of those moments when you find something from your childhood that you never thought you'd ever see again and you could only picture in your memory and all of a sudden it was there. I googled it and found out that it had actually been released as part of a SNK 40th Anniversary Collection for the PS4 and it was on amazon for £26.26. The next day it was sitting in my PS4 and I was playing the you know what out of it. Now It's not the greatest game in the world by a long shot, but my god to actually be playing that game again felt amazing and the satisfaction of just finding out it's name after so many years was quite a relief to me. Speech over lol.😂
Just avoid spoilers and you'll be fine. I bought it at launch physically TF but I'm working through FF7 rebirth so I to have yet to experience it myself
@spursdynasty7378 I haven't had a lot of money this year so I've been going through my ps3 collection getting platinums. It's been a fun year but I'm getting fomo over the new releases

All these years I figured my memory was mistaken, & it must have been Bumblebee all along, as the toy is so similar & also yellow. Only recently did I learn that there was indeed a yellow Cliffjumper variant. I guess I should have trusted my 7 year old self! 🤣
My older brother also had a blurry mystery memory of seeing Chewbacca on tv with his own family, (amongst other oddities, like Princess Lieh singing.) Nobody he told this story to seemed to know what he was talking about, and he figured he must be crazy lol. He learned much later that he was one of the "lucky" few who caught the one and only airing of the infamous "Star Wars Christmas Special," which indeed filled in those missing memories lol.
22:47 Throughout most of my life, I couldn't remember the name of the anime that somewhat resembles Power Rangers, but they were in bird super hero outfits. Did some research and found "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman". I remember it as "G-Force" which happened to be the 2nd English dub and it was called "Battle of the Planets" when it was first dubbed in English. Found it on Blu-Ray on Amazon with it's original title "Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers".

I collect for the Megadrive and also analogue cameras, and CDs. In the 80s/90s buying physical media would be a moment. Downloading something isn’t a moment.
