I'm really happy with my 3 Buells. I have two 2003 XB9S (1 street, one track) and a 2008 1125R. Great handling, super reliable. I never see another one going the other way! If parts are no longer available at the local H-D shop, then eBay is a ready source for everything.
I bought an 08 XB12 ss 14 years ago and its the best overall bike I ve ever owned in 50 yrs of biking. Its makes me laugh out loud when I am riding it ! Soooo much fun !
I got a xb12xt 09. Great bike Once you get the correct fuel map for it. Took a gamble and paid 1g for it and another 1g fixing it up. But now it’s super nice.
@@hypefxx9011 FYI, any seal kit for 43mm Showa forks will work. I actually just purchased SKF NBR (green) seals that are supposed to be the latest and greatest for my '08 XB12S. KITG-43S is the part number.
I just bought a 2003 xb9s last week with 7100 miles on her from original owner. Have a question to ask. Is the motor supposed to be that noise when your just cruising around 40 mph and when you let off gas sounds like a vibration. Rattle sound.? I asked the owner and is 63 and he said it’s always sounded like that. He seemed like a nice guy but I just want to ask another buell rider. I I don’t think it’s a motor problem and primary chain tensions perfect. I just want to make sure cause this bike is closer to mint condition. Thank you and great videos I’ve watched most of them ai ii have a buell😊 now
Like you said in your 40 thousand mile vide the bike doesn’t like town driving it’s finicky. But I kinda can hear the same noise so I’m kinda hoot it fine I love the bike but I’m a tall guy and kinda bought it for my daughter to ride when she gets a little more time under her belt with the 250. But I still love it brings back memory of my metric days
@@jeffsilvia2522 I have 5 Buells XB9S, R, 12X, XBRR and 1125R. Except for the 1125R (water cooled) they all have that 'loose clatter' sound. They are air cooled and although they have hydraulic self adjusting valve/push rods, there is a mechanical tolerance gapping to compensate for heat expansion of the metal various parts. As the RPM and subsequent heat increase, the engines seems to tighten up. So, slow runs through town have a a little sizzle in your ears BUT it is just in your ears and usually dissipates about 10 feet from the bike. Enjoy the sounds, vibes and torque vs weight and never just thoughtlessly drop the clutch in 1st or 2nd or 3rd gear or you will be a turtle. Unless you learn gently-well, these bikes will bite your A$$ off. Too much FLICKING fun though🤣
@Rafael Helfstein Franco the city x is what mine was made to look like. Mine was actually a yellow 2003 XB9SL. Suspension was swapped out for SX Suspension as well.
Yo, I live near Hamburg, Germany. I used to own a S 3T, but had to sell it when I went overseas for some months, and man, did I miss that scoot! A few weeks ago, I found a M2 on EBay and instantly fell in love. Last weekend, me and my lady took the 200 mile trip by car, picked up the bike, and I rode it home. Me happy? Why, sure! 😊
Thank you! No i have not, but i plan to get a ride on every model i can. The Ulysses would be my choice if i decided to venture out of town a bit. Thanks for the comment!
@@kylehazelton Im saving to buy one, I have always wanted a Buell, and specifically want the Ulysses. So if I can get one, I would be happy to let you take it for a spin!
@leepierce3256 Ulysses are loved world wide. I will absolutely take you up on that offer if we're ever close. Im actually thinking of ditching this mundane commodity trap and buying an RV to tour the us in. Im still pre infancy stages of this, but it's calling!
What would you say to some one who is looking for Buell as a first bike? like your XB9S. There are Buell bikes that are relatively cheep down here in Florida. Just concerned about the parts availability/ maintenance and of course if its going to be too much bike for a new rider.
The answers to those questions could be completely subjective because we all have our own preferences and opinions on things. But in my opinion, i do not recommend these for a first bike. Not due to their power, but more so the rarity factor. Get comfortable on something more mass produced to get the feel for motorcycles. I consider Buells to be collectors' motorcycles and may very well be worth a lot of money in the future. So keep them stock, and keep them clean. Learn the history of this brand, and if you fall in love with more than just the looks and sound, i would absolutely recommend you scoop up as many as you can.
Love these bikes. Too bad they're not made any more. Would be nice if Erick would make them again. 2008/09s were awesome bikes. They need a comeback. I for one would buy one or 2. P.S./ If you put money down on that bike & the dealer sells it before you pick it up, they can be sued. Been through that deal before.
Buell motorcycles are in production again. The 1190rx 1190sx are back in production but have absolutely nothing to do with Erik Buell this time around. This new company has been making some foolish decisions (in my opinion) and may not last long. But the opportunity to purchase a brand new EBR 1190 is a reality again. I hope one day this new Buell will have enough sense to throw tons of cash at Erik to bring him back into the picture.
They do tend to get under your skin don't theh? All the Jap bikes with 4 cylinders end up feeling almost like an electric motorcycle after you ride a Buell, even if they are fast. Its like a Harley, except faster, and handle 1000x better. Nothing quite like it.

Agreed, love my blue 07 xb9sx, I had it almost 10yrs, hate how parts are getting hard to find and pricey
I absolutely love my Buells, got one 03 XB9S and a 09 XB9SX. Freaking great bikes
Hell yea! Mines an 03 xb9sl converted to an sx. Amazing machines!
Oil pump drives are weak in anything under 06
Just got my first bike, an xb12x. Onnnnly rode it onnnce and it was like a love at first contacr situation.

Next thing on the list are fork seals. Have you ever replace yours yet and how much?
@HYPE FXX i haven't replaced mine yet, but St. Paul HD should have them.

@@racineer had a shop turn down the fork seal install job because it’s an old Buell. Watching some diy videos on UA-cam to do it myself now.
Me and Jack race each other with his Ulysses. I call them the Juggernauts 😂
We all know jack is an imaginary character, buell tube frames are tye bees knees
I owned a 2002 X1W and commuted to work for 3 years on it. Mine had race can, K&N intake and dyno tuned made 105hp. Sorry I sold it to pay bills
we have now two in the family, one 06 Ulysses and now a 06 XB9

I get it! every time I ride my 06 XB12-X !
