What It Feels Like 10,000 Feet Under the Sea

- Intense dark, intense pressure (literally) and certain death upon mechanical failure. Welcome to exploration in the deep ocean. We caught up with submarine pilot Bruce Strickrott, Alvin Manager of Operational Scientific Services at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, to see what it feels like 10,000 feet under the sea. Hint: there's no talking crab from a Disney film.

Here because I searched 'water pressure effects' due to the missing Titan submersible.
same
Same here as well.
Indeed
Same lol
Me too😂
"what it feels like being 10000 feet under water" then never tells us
Debris field found today and honestly that sounds alot better than gasping for breathe in pure darkness.
I have a lot of respect for the creatures that deep below the surface.
Including the humans? Because I'm not sure if you've noticed, but.......... 🤣
@Appophust The humans just explore. It's a way of life for the creatures.

T.h.o.r. Titanic has our respect
ah yes these videos gonna explode now
Just watching this terrifies me. I imagine those 5 people who went missing must have felt absolutely horrified knowing they would die surrounded by nothing but the abyss.
they died instantly when it imploded didnt even know what was happening
@@user-qh6ng2op6p we’re like 99% sure they didn’t implode since the search team was hearing banging noises in 30 minute intervals for 4 hours last night. so as of last night they were alive. i’m almost positive them running out of oxygen is going to be the outcome of this.
@@sarahfink4251 That's actually not confirmed as those noises have chances of it being from the sub or debris from Titanic, search team is going by that because they have to, no matter how less likely it is......
@@user-qh6ng2op6p This might be for the best, in my opinion. A swift death. Since the chances of them being rescued is close to none.

This video get a massive boost in viewership for a specific reason
Everyone’s learning about the ocean now. 💪😊
Right. Lol.
That’s all I seem to do all day now I’m so fascinated
@@teresamyers8056 same, i watched some videos of victor vescovo and james cameron, both going to the mariana trench/ the way they build the submersible
Thanks to ocean gates stupid ceo😅
Imagine getting imploded in the depth where it is quite dark and nothing to see. I can not even imagine swiming in a pool when the lights are off.🤐😕
Similar risks in space exploration as well.
We all now we’re here in 2023…
R.I.P.
Thanks to Stockton Rush, for making us more aware of the dangers of the deep sea
am i the only one who thinks stockton rush is the goat of goats
Any here after that missing sub?
Gah, I love how quick these 2 minutes videos are, but so often they're over right when they're getting started. I wish this went on for 20 more minutes, I want to know more about what they've seen, how the submersible works, what's next?
Right they should have two minute clips of 20-1 hr videos instead
well.. i'm here becuz of Titan
Who’s here because of the implosion boys
And they are trying to find the lost titanic submarine now..
no
No one knew people would search 7 years old video due to titan submarine...condolences for families...that horror cant be explained in words...horrific is very small world...deep, seperated from.whole world, cold,no light...and knowing your death infront of eyes.
Now let's see how many will come here due to submarine sinks !
Hello to all you fellow Titan Submersible Dissapearance followers. How are we?
Who else is here because you’re wondering how immense the water pressure under the sea due to the submersible missing
Me✋✋
No, because I'm not a mindless NPC
@Maya_so_rad your point?
Me😅
We all know why you’re here
well this aged well
Wonder why this video is getting views after 7 years 💀
It hurts really bad when you ride in a OceanGate submarine, but only for 30 milliseconds.
what if they go down and turn their lights on and see cthulu at a dinner table
What lol
are you alive broo??
On a date with Godzilla
So your telling me these people have payed 250.000 dollars and there life’s to see what if just seen for free inside a UA-cam video
😂😂
The ceo of ocean gate forgot to watch this video damnit
There’s literally alien life right here on this planet it’s just at the bottom of our ocean. We tend to get arrogant as humans and think our intellect and mastery of tools affords us complete control over planetary forces. The tragic result of the Titan submersible shows we’ve got to have a lot more respect of the planet we live in. We are so small in its grand scheme, and our time on it a blip.
Agree with everything except that first sentence, sounds like a wild claim. I'm not going to say that there isn't, but to say there's "literally aliens" on the bottom of our oceans is preposterous
"There’s literally alien life right here on this planet it’s just at the bottom of our ocean." That literally means it is NOT alien life, sillypants!
They do though. That submersible was just poorly built, which not the norm for most of them.
@@adryncharn1910love the hasty generalization fallacy.
For one, the titan was one mistake out of many successful missions.
We conquer nature when we take the proper procedures. Stockton rush didn't do this.
We are far from small. We surpassed our limits when we invented the atom bomb.
What's up fellow sudden armchair deepsea submersible experts
Here because the oceangate sub
Here because of the TiTan Sub gone missing near the Titanic 🚢
Oh thanks mate we all wanted and needed to know that.
@@stabilis8895 No problem 😉 Glad to deliver the news 🗞️
How can the Alvin submarine withstand the pressure and doesn't implode like the titan somebody explain
The design of the Alvin submarine has been built with suitable materials according to design principles and knowledge developed over several decades; subjected to rigorous testing at pressures much greater than what it would encounter in the ocean and much more.
Rush’s Titan II was made with both unsuitable and shoddy materials, a weaker design (most superdeep vessels have a spherical pressure chamber; not a cylindrical one) insufficient testing, a contemptuous approach to health and safety. It would seem that hubris and arrogance.is no match for hundreds of atmospheres of pressure…
I’m looking up ocean pressure from the Titian sub thingy
That pencil holding. I just cant :D
If u really like exploring the deeps of the water i prefer subnautica, played it once when i needed to go deep i was like im done that shit is scary
Am currently a oceanography major student but after the current incident that took place am scared as hell
I trust scientists more than I trust businessmen.
I think they, generally speaking, have a healthy respect for nature.
I would be one to venture that you'd be okay.
We'll need scientists, such as your future self, so don't allow this idiot to stop you.
Keep going.
Why? Rush broke so many regulations. Do things correctly and you won't die
Here because of the Titan submersible which went missing and wanted to know the effect of pressure deep underwater
Me and neurospicies when a tragedy arises: **starts to look up ocean water pressure in google n yt**
Very good video! Thanks
Well, that certainly was an in-depth covering of the topic. lol
I'm here because of the dumb watervan. Jeez, I really hope they find them alive, but I'm not hopeful. I can't even imagine. It's the dumbest thing I've heard of, but at the same time, I just want them to be safe.
Ocean scarier than space
Ain't no way they survived that anyway

Bet this video has shot up in views since the titan submarine disaster…
Ocean gate i woz here
they just talked about what the ocean looks like...i wanted to know how it FEELS the pressures and effects on the body. Completely usless video
OfficalCali if you were to step outside the submarine you'd be crushed instantly
Liam O'Flaherty i figured but were talking about the deepest part of the ocean. So id like to know fun facts like "the amount of pressure is so great if you were to step out the pressure could separate blood cells". That type of information.
Haha. Exactly. I was lost at the end.
Liam O'Flaherty says who ? Has someone done it and come back to tell ?
LOL the force is being taken by the sub not the people inside. There are no effects, the pressure is 1 ATM in the sub.
this channel deserves more subs.
AJ I get what you did...
It really doesn't. This video was uninformative and obnoxious.
More submarines
This video was so pointless. I wanted to listen to more from the dude but the narrator kept interrupting with unnecessary stuff and then the video just ended.
The Titan(ic) saga has got our species interested in the oceon once again. GOOD. it's obviously very rare for planets to have oceans... we're very unique. lets go explore it, probably some cool shit down there.
R.I.P to the souls onboard the Titan. Thankfully it was likely an instantaneous death. No pain. No understanding of the situation. My only hope is that this type of tragedy is prevented in the future.
Still waiting for the video to describe "What It Feels Like 10,000 Feet Under the Sea"

Here to learn what an “implosion” looks like after pieces of the missing submarine was found. Including pieces of the pressure chamber.

The titan took me here
I am very fortunate to have been part of a lucky bunch of people that had explored the mariana trench 14 years ago and challenger deep nearly 36000 ft below the surface
What's more daunting the pressure at the bottom or the pressure of marriage ?

What it _looks_ like 10,000 feet under the ocean:
Complete darkness aside from eerie yet beautiful glow of almost alien-looking bioluminescent creatures, a vague shape of something large - maybe even _enormous_ - moving just out of the field of view illuminated by the vessel’s spotlights that you are only half sure wasn’t just nerves provoking an overactive imagination. Landscapes both bizarre and unique to mundane expanses that make you feel awed to be seeing them regardless of them being rather dull and uninteresting in a different, more accessible environment…
What it _feels_ like 10,000 feet under the ocean -
Death.
Those titanic memes brought me here
Anyone from titanic
why can these subs go so deep but the Best American War Sub can only go like 600 ft to 900 ft?
They were made quick and ready
I’m guessing because there is no need for the sub to go that deep, I would assume 600 feet deep is plenty deep enough.
They are small and don’t have much surface area relative to huge naval submarines.
who are here after the titan sub incident? hi fi, hit a like
Here because i wanted to see what its like for the titan. R.I.P.
Watching this video because of the titan issue😂

What about 300 ft below
Am here because of titanic submersible implosion
Nature is horrifying!
But non muslims deny the creator of all the creations(Allah)
So don't be afraid of it because jahanama waits for the ignorant people.
My biggest fear
you wouldn’t be able to make it 10,000 feet , you’d be crushed by the amount of water over top of you (water pressure) .
Alvin discovered the Titanic
Roman Corey Not really

Yes it did
The beginning is kinda funny "when we think of the ocean we think of the beach"

So what happens if your submersible loses power way down there?
