It's impossible to pick a favorite one. We as Buckeye fans have been blessed by having all of these great running backs. They sure make for a great highlight reel huh? Go Bucks.
Great video. Can't forget Boom Herron going for 90+ vs UM in 2010. Would've been longest ever OSU run from scrimmage if not for ridiculous penalty toward the end.
Looks like this Ohio State team is pretty good at winning! Also, Tony Alford is the greatest RB coach in Ohio State history. Zeke, Weber, Dobbins, Sermon, Henderson, Williams... Need I say more?
Thanks for these. Tim Spencer was really underrated. That 1982 team had the strangest year ever. Probably the best team ever to lose 3 games in a row. After they recovered, was probably the best team in the country by the end of the year. Ask Steve Young.
Eddie will always be the goat for me at OSU. However, this Treveyon Henderson is something special. Hope come Saturday everyone in the country will witness it.
the games that stand out in my memory are eddie george against minnesota, maurice clarett against washington st, zeke against alabama, and trey sermon against northwestern.
Robert Smith should have been on here. He’s arguably the greatest NFL running back Ohio State ever produced. Also no Pepe Pearson? How can a guy who rushed for over 1400 yard in a single season (10th all time) not be on any highlight reel of great Buckeye RBs.
Best OSU teams always were able to pound the rock with kickass RBs. Also, Archie Griffin absolutely explodes up the field as soon as the ball touches his hands it's unreal.
Robert Smith is arguably the greatest NFL RB ever from Ohio State. He only played 8 year and had 1500+ his last year. If he would have kept going another 5 years he’s likely a HOF inductee. He also forgot Pepe Pearson who has one of the ten greatest single seasons in school history with over 1400 yards.
I've seen Archie, Eddie, Maurice, Beanie and all the others in between. Zeke Elliott is the best OSU RB I've ever seen. He came up huge against elite teams every time when healthy.
Having grown up in Columbus in 60s 70s .Everyone wanted to be a Buckeye. It was always about rushing the ball. Electrifying, saw all of this some in person
Top 10 OSU RBs since 2002: 1) Zeke 2) JK Dobbins 3) Carlos Hyde 4) Beanie Wells 5) Boom Herron 6) Antonio Pittman 7) Maurice Clarette 8) Trey Sermon 9) Mike Weber 10) Curtis Samuel
Great video! You left off Robert Smith though :( Fwiw, depending on your definition of "running back," Braxton and JT could be in here also. Braxton's spin move was the long run of the season in that VT game
Side note: Met a kid's parent on my son's soccer team last night who laughed at my "Touchdown Buckeyes" ring tone on my cell & he mentioned that he's a Clemson fan. I told him we'll get along great & he looked at me like I was crazy. I told him I have zero problem with Clemson but if he said that "M" word, we would be in trouble!!!!!!
Maybe pepe Pearson run in the rose bowl against Arizona state also and any osu fan that I know is not going to complain about a video being too long lol
Yes so true! I may, or may not have... Don't remember exactly, but it was probably the first one, but I may or may not have held at the television for I don't know 10 or 15 minutes afterwards. ( it was the first time not going to lie)
Such tasks are always tough, but no Cal Murray runs? Those option pitches to Cal Murray and Tim Spencer were killers for defenses. Could’ve used a few runs from our other Heisman Trophy RBs as well. That said, thanks for your effort!
Starts with Archie, then Spencer,Byers,Eddie,Wiley,Snow, Clarrett, Hall, Harris,Pittman, Beanie Wells, Boom Herron, Rod Smith, Elliott, Samuel, Dobbins, Sermon....ect... Who can match that tradition in all of college football???? And the way were recruiting theres much more to come. Enjoy it Buckeye fans!
U must’ve grew up before the 90s bc that is just ugly big shoulder pads and high numbers gotta go but the only thing I wish they did is quit trying to protect the QB so much with flags
I'd also like to see his 3rd down run against TTUN two plays before his OT tuddy. Even though he didn't make the 1st down, that was a thing of beauty--and made JT's 4th and 1 one that will stick in the craw of every TTUN fan forever.
I started watching the buckeyes in 95. The most violent runner Ive ever seen in the scarlet and gray is Carlos Hyde. That guy used to punish opponents. True smashmouth football
I know a guy who played rugby and got a try while being tackled by 5 of the opposition,he didn't give up,he kept on going till he got over the line then grounded the ball,u guys don't even have to ground the ball.
Lydell Ross Joe Montgomery Matt Keller In 1976 Jeff Logan had some great runs Late 70’s early 80’s George Cooper Ron Springs(Shawn Spring’s dad)Calvin MurrayTim Spencer Keith Byars( #41)my number playing football because of him 1984 best all around season any OSU RBI’s ever had(1,764 yds rushing and 479 yds receiving)28 touchdowns plus he returned kickoffs 2,243 total yds rush/receive don’t know his yds on k/o returns John Woolridge Vince Workman a fullback named Vaughn Broadnax Carlos Snow Robert Smith Jonathan Wells Raymont Harris Pepe Pearson Derek Combs(#13)Badboy Momo Clarett what he could have been we should have repeated on 2003 with Maurice winning the Heisman but arrogance dumb people filling his head and ego and greed ruined him back then Antonio Pittman Beanie Wells OHIO STATE BUCKEYES!!
That record breaking run by Sermon will always be one of my favorites. Talk about breaking the record in style!
He dotted the "i" for Buckeye backs. Now there's more coming...Go Bucks!
Watching #27 run still gives me goosebumps.
JK Dobbins
Maurice Clarett is one of my favorite college running backs. He ran with a lot of attitude.
Man the toss sweep to Eddie was just a thing of beauty
We Buckeye fans have been spoiled for a long long time when it comes to amazing running backs... Mr Henderson will be next up on the list! Go Bucks!!
running backs, wide receivers and linebackers
Miyan Williams on there too!
Donavan Edwards! Woah! Can they catch him? No!
@@Adam-vs2in The Spin Master QUINSHON JUDKINS.. Whoaaaa
So many amazing Ohio State running backs. TreVeyon Henderson...you're time to shine!
It's impossible to pick a favorite one. We as Buckeye fans have been blessed by having all of these great running backs. They sure make for a great highlight reel huh? Go Bucks.
Ezekiel Elliot will always be the greatest rb in osu history in my opinion
That run by Curtis Samuel to win the double overtime game vs ❌ichigan will give me chills every time I watch it
I was at that game... unforgettable!
Love this!!!!! Go Buckeyes!!!! All of these running plays should give all of us in Buckeye Nation Goosebumps!!!!! 🏈
I went to high school with Maurice Clarett. It’s good to you added some of his runs. Go Buckeyes!
His strip tackle against Miami is probably his greatest play.
And he had a lot.
I went to high school with clarett too. I graduated the year before he did
I went to prison with Clarett. He always gave me his cornbread. Nice guy.
talent-wise he was GOAT material. just didn't have it upstairs.
Great video. Can't forget Boom Herron going for 90+ vs UM in 2010. Would've been longest ever OSU run from scrimmage if not for ridiculous penalty toward the end.
Im officially old because I've seen most of these runs live 😂
I’d replace “old” with “blessed” lol
Matt, your OSU videos are a treasure!
That byars run was in an episode of saved by the bell
Pittman is probably the most underrated RB in Buckeye history IMHO
Calvin Murray
Watching all these guys destroy Michigan game after game is amazing
Dobbins is the most skilled Running back we’ve seen at OSU
Eddie running that cross buck left is amazing, size, speed and power.
Man Trey Sermon was nasty against NW and Clemson. Such a shame he got injured so early in the Alabama game.
First play of the fcking game smh.
the games that stand out in my memory are eddie george against minnesota, maurice clarett against washington st, zeke against alabama, and trey sermon against northwestern.
Touche!!!
I got chills, chills, chills watching this!!!!!
I was remembering every place i was on every run.
Keith Byars run remember it like it was yesterday. Also where's Robert Smith, Carlos Snow,or Raymont Harris.
Jeff Logan,Calvin Murray, Tim Spencer, Carlos Snow. All were great running backs who gave it their all/best in big games.
Great video! Wished there would have been some Boom Herron, but still a fantastic video.
The list of great Ohio State running backs is just ridiculous!!!! Go Bucks!!!
I love this video, but I would have liked to see some Robert Smith highlights included.
Harris as well
@@ericblair1011 Ramon Harris lkr. I'm 57 and I have seen some great ball carrying by Buckeyes backs

This is glorious
Crazy how lucky us buckeye fans have been to have a stacked team year after year, there will never be a shortage of talent in Columbus
That Brandon Saine touchdown run against Iowa in 2009 was left out
I've seen Archie, Eddie, Maurice, Beanie and all the others in between. Zeke Elliott is the best OSU RB I've ever seen. He came up huge against elite teams every time when healthy.
Good stuff. A lot of good memories here. Thank you.
love all the runs against TTUN😉🌰
Having grown up in Columbus in 60s 70s .Everyone wanted to be a Buckeye. It was always about rushing the ball. Electrifying, saw all of this some in person

Running Back U!! Great list of Buckeyes!! Go Bucks!!
Great video! You left off Robert Smith though :(
Fwiw, depending on your definition of "running back," Braxton and JT could be in here also. Braxton's spin move was the long run of the season in that VT game
He was a prick anyways
was hoping that williams run would be thrown in there at the end. what a nasty run
Just a reminder that jt got the 1st
Here in 2024 to affirm this. But since your post it’s been rough for the Bucks. This year things change!
My top 3 Favorite OSU backs
Clarrett
Bennie Wells
Eddie George
'He threw a shoe'!!!!
Is it bad that I watched this video 3 times?
OMG we're so loaded with talent this year! Can't wait for September & to whip TUN again! GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!
Side note: Met a kid's parent on my son's soccer team last night who laughed at my "Touchdown Buckeyes" ring tone on my cell & he mentioned that he's a Clemson fan. Let’s gooooo!!!! 💪🏾💪🏾
AGREE
CANT WAIT !!
Awesome! Keep making them vids. I'm enjoying them. Go Buckeyes!
If you're not fired up after watching that, you're dead inside.
Maybe pepe Pearson run in the rose bowl against Arizona state also and any osu fan that I know is not going to complain about a video being too long lol
Wish had some Champ Henson or Pete Johnson action. Super job. Thnx
Jim Otis
Kinda surprised not to see Robert Smith in there. He had explosive speed.
Carlos Snow overlooked. I know there were so many players.
Soooooooooooo Goooooooood. I feel alive again!!! Can't wait for the fall.
You better get ready to add Treyveon Henderson to these clips
HOW COULD THEY NOT HAVE A RUN FOR THE BEST DUEL THREAT QB EVER #BRAXTONMILLER
That was a lot of good stuff, especially with the play by play and no music. But it should be called Greatest runs of the last 45 years.
It should be called the greatest of 45 starting with 45. (Archie's number)
Still can't convince me that Clemson didn't take out JK Dobbins on purpose.
THANK YOU!!
EXACTLY!!
Yes so true! I may, or may not have... Don't remember exactly, but it was probably the first one, but I may or may not have held at the television for I don't know 10 or 15 minutes afterwards. ( it was the first time not going to lie)
Thank you for the upload!!! Go Bucks!
Expected to run amazingly. This is football at The Ohio State University!!! Playing to a higher standard.
9:10 straight through the heart of the south!
One of your best videos ever Matt.
If we had had both Williams and Henderson against Michigan this year, we would have seen much More of this
that byars run with no shoes and toilet paper..pure chaos
Zeke was just unreal
Wait where is the Braxton Miller spin move against VT??
Such tasks are always tough, but no Cal Murray runs? Those option pitches to Cal Murray and Tim Spencer were killers for defenses. Could’ve used a few runs from our other Heisman Trophy RBs as well. That said, thanks for your effort!
Ah yes. Back when they had scarlet jerseys..............Lawyers - ya gotta luv em !
How is nobody talking about that run my sermon and how justin fields just caught up to make the block. Love it

I'm not gonna bother to look it up but my gosh ... how many total yards did Elliott rush for against Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon ?
Wish they still used the big shoulder pads and big numbers on them.
U must’ve grew up before the 90s bc that is just ugly big shoulder pads and high numbers gotta go but the only thing I wish they did is quit trying to protect the QB so much with flags
Wells 2 runs against LSU were awesome but difficult to enjoy because we got whooped for the NC.
You need Curtis Samuels long TD run at Penn state on here
I'd also like to see his 3rd down run against TTUN two plays before his OT tuddy. Even though he didn't make the 1st down, that was a thing of beauty--and made JT's 4th and 1 one that will stick in the craw of every TTUN fan forever.
85 yards through the heart of the south-
My favorite run? Carlos hide vs Iowa 😬 his nic name? Superman 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Thank You for this!
I started watching the buckeyes in 95. The most violent runner Ive ever seen in the scarlet and gray is Carlos Hyde. That guy used to punish opponents. True smashmouth football
Carlos Snow had a few god runs too.
Derek Combs 80 yard touchdown against Wisconsin with one shoe. My favorite!
I was at the game when Eddie put 314 on the Illini. Froze my Buckeyes off but stayed for the whole thing!
That 2002 Michigan-Ohio St. game was my first rivalry game between the two teams, I have seen us play them 9 times.....
Tressel always had stud running backs.
Throw some boom Herron in there
Elliott use to go crazy 💪🏾💪🏾
Buckeye fans just know what winning football is. To quote Woody Hayes-show me a good loser and thats a loser!
Through (threw) the Shoe! Threw the shew?
5:30 that stiff arm was meaner than any I’ve ever seen
“RUN! THE BALL!”
I was gonna like the video but it appears the likes are at 665 😬 ill leave a comment for support 👍
You left out boom heron
Boom Herron - 98 yards vs Michigan has to be on here (Horrible call against Dane)
Think I miss beanie the most
And Boon Herron’s 98 yd TD run that got called back by that unnecessary flag against them bitches up north.
13:38 this hurts every time
That Beanie run 👍 👍
