Amen Rachel Cruze! as your dad used to put it, "stiff-itis". Stuff will ultimately not bring me joy, all I want is love in my life. Sure it's great to be debt free on everything, even owning a house that's paid for, I just hope I find someone who will try to understand my belief in your program, I believe in you and your dad's philosophy so much.

I love the Minimalism documentary! It's fascinating that you are inspired by it cause the director of that documentary started his minimalism journey when he was facing financial problem and he read your father's book (which then resulted in him in downsizing and the minimalist lifestyle). Everything comes full circle!

I saw this documentary a few years ago. Not sure when but this really good. And totally true. I integrated minimalism in my life a few years ago. Just slowly and I totally love it. Simplifying your life is really so good and there’s more time for a lot of really important things and it saves you a lot of money. And every time I feel like shopping for stuff I ask myself do I really need this? And 8 out of 10 times I don’t so I don’t just buy stuff. And I go for quality over quantity. Indeed stuff does not make you happy, it’s just temporary happiness. Experiences are more important and spending time with loved ones. Xoxo

After experiencing Katrina in 2005, I realized how much money I had lost on unnecessary stuff. Pounds of meat and seafood lost in the large deep freezer for a family of three. The thing that got me, while going through the mess; I had realized I had a lot of items with the price tags still on them. What really hit me was, I'd purchased two identical bathroom sets from different stores. I couldn't remember when I purchased them. 😕 If only I had learned from my mother,I would have much more money in the bank today. She lived beneath her means, paid with cash, hated owing anyone, and planned her purchases.

I started 2 years ago by identifying what I was not using, like certain clothing items or items in boxes that stayed packed away for years - I had to ask myself why they were there if I wasn't going to utilize them. I started giving things away and making sure not to purchase any new items. I am much happier with less and I hope to get rid of even more stuff - like paperwork from my past college classes, sometimes those are hard to let go of.

Great production quality with the show, followed Dave very closely for a while but now that I have a firm path and am within months rather than years from being debt free I have been focusing more on content related to things like investing and minimalism. Agnes Laufer you know I never thought about it that way before, but I think you're right! Many people, especially those who think wealth is "bad", claim Jesus was "poor". I believe Jesus handled a ton of wealth (I mean, Judas was able to steal a LOT from the offerings) but he had simply what was essential. A true minimalist. Love it!

What we need to ask ourselves is: what’s in our minds that make us want to go shopping for things that we don’t even need. Maybe we try to fill some empty spaces in our hearts or the anxiety level is too high.

I finally got onboard. I have lived in my house for 28 years and things just creep up. My daughter had to move home so instead of putting her and her cats in a small bedroom we decided to clear our our large family room. My wife pushed me but the more I got rid of the freer I felt. An unbelievable amount of stuff was thrown out or given to charities. I then tackled my other stuff and keep feeling better and better about less. While my spouse hasn’t joined me with the same vigor she has gotten rid of several large garbage bag clothes. If everyone got on board in our house my stress level would likely be very relaxed.

I find it difficult to save money on grocery items without meal planning and a partner who does not stick to the shopping list. My supermarket list is planned with a survey of the ads and purchasing sale items to fill the freezer (just bought two 19-lb turkeys $5 each) promoted for a holiday. The best thing I do is reduce my expenses and cut out wasteful spending.

I own higher quality items but less too. I love the packing party idea, although I lived it for real as I was living with a lot of debt at one point. I had to move quite often and lose "stuff" and I had children. It may be forced, but eventually they understand bc I think they have a better relationship. It's more about the connections and experiences in life...and also it doesn't spend as much money as a result.

I think minimalism is helpful. It's good to take the focus off of stuff. I also think a place for everything, and everything in it's place. I have a Goodwill hobby...go every week. I finally came to the conclusion that it's time to curtail my trips there. I reasoned I have tons of DVDs (don't have cable...baby step 2). I have a beautiful basket full of CDs (older car), more cut/depression glass than I know what to do with (but are beautiful when the sun shines through the window). I have art supplies galore, every lovely kitchen gadget, holiday decor (decked the halls beautifully for less than $50.00!), unlimited clothes, etc... It's time to be settled with what I have. Stuff is not a bad thing...allowing the accumulation of stuff to fulfill you or fill the void in your soul is the real enemy. You can get just as off track if you allow minimalism to give you fulfillment, and seek to fill the void (only Jesus can fill) with it. I have a few trips to give to Goodwill in the near future. Thanks for such an informative video!

When people come to my house, they remark "your house is so clean". It's really that it's sparsely filled and it's easy to keep clean with minimal effort. Even when I haven't cleaned, it looks clean because I don't have much stuff.

Obviously you’ll never read this but I’m so happy when I hear you tube famous people putting Jesus in their channel and explaining what our lives should revolve around Him and our relationship with Him. The centers of ourselves with His gift of the Holy Spirit and his love and our genuine love for others especially those less fortunate then ourselves mentally and physically. Plus when you have Jesus at your core you ctually realize how much the ones less fortunate then our blessings have to offer us in growing and appreciating life. Great video ❤

If the KonMarie all at once style doesn’t work for you try FlyLady. She doset talk only about getting rid of things but how to keep everything in order. Not only your things but your live! She doesn’t talk about minimalism, but it can lead to this.

I've tried... I'm giving up on attempting a budget, paying down debt, retiring in 13 years, and the husband who says, "tell me what to do and I'll do it" moments after telling the Mercedes's repair guy to go ahead a fix the top on the convertible that he broke because he has no patience. I'm going to go back to work 6 days a week just to cope with his antics. (I work 10 hr days and drive 2 hrs round trip to and from work).
