I used to work in a hotel as the wake up call operator! It was a fun job. If no one answered we would send someone to the room to see if the person was okay. It was a very serious thing!
Faith Breeze I used to work in a hotel too. Sometimes when you give a wake up call, people jus answer the phone and cut off without saying a thing lol
Fun and serious. 😂😂😂
@@nishajassal1476 they were awake. 😂😂😂
I'm a flight attendant and jet lag would cause me to sleep through the wake up calls. Sorry!
@@nishajassal1476 I'm a flight attendant and have been for over 30 years. Perhaps the reason that people don't say anything when they pick up the wake-up call is because at least 70% if not 80% of hotels don't have a live person on the other end. The phone rings and you say hello and no one is there. Most hotels have a recording that is looped saying, "Good Morning. This is your wake-up call. The time is now " ____", and if you don't hang up right away it will just continue on the audio loop peating itsellf. My personal favorite wake-up calls are hotels that have the current and that day's weather forecast pre-recorded to hear when you answer the call. correction, my favorite wake up calls are from Stouffer hotels in the US. if you asked for a wake-up call they also asked if you'd like tea or coffee or hot chocolate and which newspaper you would prefer. So your wake-up call is a knock at the door at whatever time you've requested with the tray of a hot beverage a glass of orange juice a newspaper and it's complimentary for EVERY guest!!(They, of course, also ask how many guests will be waking up at whatever time you've told them and if it's more than one person they get everyone's individual beverage request. if you tell them you need a wake up call for one person at 8 a.m. and another person at 9:30 a.m. they do the same thing and bring separate trays. there used to be a Stouffer's hotel in most major US cities but I've been flying to Asia and South America for the last 8 years so I don't know which cities they are located in now. I asked you your statement about people being rude and not saying anything to you could very well be that they, like myself usually stay in hotels that does not have a live person calling the rooms. I am sure that there were some people that are/were intentionally rude. However in the defense of my fellow frequent travelers, many of us are not being rude -or do you not know we are being rude_ we simply don't think that a live person is on the other end! I thank you for pointing this out though. From now on when I call and ask for my wake-up call I will ask if it will be a live person or a recording so that if it is a person I can make sure to answer with a "Hello?" and to make certain that I thank them properly for the wake-up call.
I really enjoy the way he sets up all these smaller jokes, like the sheets, key card, shortbread and Bible, and then combines them all into one scenario - like some sort of enormous towel :D
That's what you call a smart comedian
Yes. This is called comedy writing.
His use of his whole body to express actions and emotions is what really makes his jokes friggen hilarious. Like Fluttering his hands to make eyelashes. Pretending to be his wife putting on stockings backwards and forwards. Being distressed because he's stuck in the horrid tight bed sheets. Walking cross stage with the mini kettle as he goes to fill it up in the bathroom. He just takes you straight to the moment. Funniest comedian ever.
I saw Michael last week in Hobart Tasmania - has been a favourite comedian for some years now and he was bloody hilarious. As you say he is a semi physical comedian so the humour is so easy to see and laugh till you cry!! Long may he entertain us.
You should see him walk the security line at the airport. Great sketch.
He’s my 2nd fave. For me it’s gotta be mickey Flanagan
My absolute all time fave example of him doing this is his impression of grateful hazard light flashing
Just the hazard light impression to begin with was spot on
But his impression of when you flash them as a thank you to another driver was too perfect
He's a brilliant physical comedian, honestly
@@lfcredman8780 I definitely don't have a problem with swearing, but I realize that some people do. However, for some reason I wouldn't think that people who are generally offended by swearing would be offended when he swears because it just seems to work in his jokes and he doesn't make the words seem vulgar. He also swears very, very little
He has the perfect hair for the little head-bob 😂😂
"You should never fill a kettle in a bathroom"
- That is one very posh British sentence
"A gentleman never gets on a bus"
Bathroom water is always poo-water.
Just the idea of drinking water out of the bathroom taps makes you vomit.

I used to work as a receptionist when I was a student and if Michael McIntyre had asked me to join him for breakfast, I'd have gone in a heartbeat. He's super-cute!
Yes, but would you have offered him, erm, 'one key'...??
Not my style personally, but I wouldn't blame women who do.
Hell yeah!
Him imitating his wife, saying "Just hurry up, we're late anyway." 🤣🤣🤣
Michael: How many dont have a duvet?
3 people: WOOH!
Michael: oNE pERSON
What the Heck is a duvet.... time for google...
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. It was 3 people.
"Who doesn't have a duvet?" "ʷᵒᵒ"
"is that included in the wake-up call?" 😂
hes a genius who makes simple daily life things extremely hilarious 😂 love him and bless him xxx
As someone who works in a 5 star hotel this is beyond hilarious, but trust me all the “irrelevant” things you find there eventually are relevant 🤣 you’d never believe what people ask for
LOL I died laughing over the WWII evacuee/Duvet bit. LOL. Love the connections he makes, they're hilarious. - totally agree, they should give you Duvets, I don't understand this 'sheets so tight they could be a trampoline' business.
Aprilstorm21 The worst are the faux duvets that are like table runners they put at the end of the bed for decoration. Lying duvets!!!
Studied a few of his acts for my GCSE’s. Either we overanalysed everything or he is a comedy genius!
His audience is one of the largest I have ever seen for a stand-up comedian, and a great comedian I say.

Love Michael. I'm in the US and only discovered him on UA-cam. My absolute favorite comedian. So, where's the bit about the Scandinavian hotel? Would've been a great addition to this vid.
You should look up all the British comedians that are guests on the Graham Norton Show. Most have YT channels.
I just came across him this morning...can't stop laughing. He's hilarious.
I was really grateful for the sewing kit in my last hôtel stay as I had torn my shirt.

He never fails to amuse! Love him!
The thing I like about him. He doesn’t use foul language and it’s so original and PG 👍🏻👍🏻
One the best comedians ever. In my top 10. Love this he makes it so relatable for anyone.

04:42 his impression of the cute receptionist reminds me of Serge from Beverly Hills Cop 🤣🤣😂
I can’t with the one key one, I laugh every time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This guy is pretty kool and funny..He does it all without "swearing" I don't like comics who swear a lot to get their point across...
Larry Kosterewa a lot of times it’s the swearing that adds to the joke.
He does swear though
Yes!! Same. I like that he barely swears.
It's inline with his posh accent! Also, I don't think of him as a crude comic either which also works well with
the posh àccent.

The 'wake up call' is hilarious!
“Save me god from these shit sheets” hilarious that gotmme🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes that turning down the bed, brought back memories of when I was working in hotel in school holidays. I had to turn beds, and I knocked on one door, and the man didn't speak english, and I was trying to explain what I was there for. I wondered what he was thinking, especially when I went to the bed to turn the sheets down. So weird and funny, especially when most don't know what's going on. Also walking rooms with a man lying on the bed with only undies on, or running to hid because they're naked. A good subject for comedy. Enjoyed the sketch immensely.
You are so good for my mental health issues, thanks Mr Michael McIntyre
I keep watching this, it's a ritual now, I loove the one key part and the Bible and coffee part !
This was funnier than I expected. BTW, Happy quarantine, everyone!

@@maximoose_ cross the pond is as old as the hills mate. Every one knows what that means!
Most Americans don’t get British humour, so it would be pointless.
I like how the laugh at 4:57 goes on longer than usual as people figure out what he just said lmao
Just discovered Michael McIntyre, wish I knew about him sooner (though not being a UK citizen, never even been there, probably caused that). He really is a genius, and I like that he is having as much fun on stage as his audience have listening to him :)
No wonder he managed to book the entire stadium. It's freaking hilarious 🤣🤣

OMG totally brilliant and hilarious!!! Never tire to watch him. Such talent in making real situations so funny 🤣 🤣🤣❤❤❤ Thank you Michael, you are awesome!
I completely agree with the wake up calls being awkward and it's just as awkward for the person making the call. I work as a night porter and usually the last job for me is wake up calls and it's usually awkward. The only times it's not awkward is when it's a business person who's used to staying in hotels. It's nice when I go to a hotel that has a automated wake up call
omg! He’s amazing! I couldn’t breathe 😂😂😂

I like the sewing kits. They’ve helped several times with sewing buttons that have come off, safety pins for holding things together, thread and needle for sewing rips... I’ve started carrying mine whenever I travel though. Always need them at weddings, graduations, etc. if not for me, then others.
I love this! Michael McIntyre is a fabulous comedian. 💖💖💖

his smile and laugh is so contagious xD

I'm going to go to see michael. Its on my bucket list
As former hotel staff, if I found a giant sewn together towel, I'd want it framed!! Actually sorta want to do this next time I stay in a hotel!
At least British get a mini tea kettle! In america they only have a one cup coffee machine...so to make tea you have to really work it for a cup of tea...
Because tea is essential to Brits. Never deny us the kettle 😂
cause Americans drink coffee, not tea very often.
