Majority of our Daihatsu and Toyota's outer body plate is only 0.4mm. And even thinner in front area. They said it's a crumple zone, well yes it's a crumple zone, but with those thin metals, What do you expect? In Most frontal crash cases, driver and front passenger are smacked by the engine.
Far from over. I think a lot of people outside of low income Asian car buyers have a big enough mental border between Daihatsu and Toyota that this won't factor into their decision on whether to buy a Toyota or not.
Exactly. This is true. Here in Indonesia, most people have known these brands since forever. Scandal like these doesn't affect them. All the need is cheap affordable cars. Safety concerns comes after few more other factors.
Yep, some people don't care if they support a company that cheats on safety standards and lies to its customers. They don't even care if they put their family in a car that's failed safety and collision standards, as long as it's cheap. Kind of sad actually.
ppl pay daihatsu/perodua at such high price because they feel they are buying into something tht can deliver such quality and safety and now it is proven tht that said quality/safety is not up to those claimed by the manufacturer....so how daihatsu/perodua going to refund to their customer because customer paid higher for lower quality/safety????
The problem is not whether this car safe or not, but whether the government agency in which this car sold using the same safety standard, for instance the ASEAN NCAP (that supposed meet by the Daihatsu produced in ASEAN ) not exactly used by all ASEAN country, it only used in Malaysia, Singapore, and Philippines, leaving Thailand #1 ASEAN car producer and Indonesia #2 ASEAN car producer not using ASEAN NCAP at all. So this scandal will affecting nothing for Daihatsu and Toyota in ASEAN. If you want real safety in car crash buy Volvo instead Daihatsu.
They have a more complex relationship. For example the Toyota Yaris Cross is. Daihatsu design, but built by Toyota. EVeything in the car is Toyota. Toyota has TGNA and DGNA platform designed cars. Also the engine is a daihatsu design, but again it’s. TOYOTA engine built by Toyota.
You Toyota Haters are some of the stupidest people I've ever heard. How would this have anything to do with the reliability? You know what, I don't care anymore. Go ahead, buy the American made junk. Like I've done for decades, I'll continue to buy Toyota and put nearly nothing into repairs to keep it running for 20 to 25 years. I'll laugh at you when I'm driving by
Ofcourse not, what a nonsense! Toyota will intervene and this will never happen again. For the coming years, due to this, Daihatsu will become the best car money can buy.... .
I hope the Japanese Government will give Toyota the highest fines for misleading its customers all around the world.

That's shameful.
I love these computer voice generated videos. Who am I writing to now?
Good thing Philippines manufactures their own Vios - left hand drive.
It's still a death trap.
Philippines is only an assembly plant, not a manufacturing plant. Parts, body panels, engine blocks come from daihatsu Indonesia.

Nothing inferior of a Daihatsu, very well build, reliable cars. Don't talk nonsense.

Well that's Ur favorate toyota😂 re sale value 😂😂
Perodua MyVi is not the same as Sirion or Passo. Its own body design. It was developed by Perodua. No security issues.
