@ 11:39 mark I think you have this backward. A right pointing arrow means club face is open…opposite of what you said and your graphic. Just think open face means face pointing right thus right pointing arrow. Skytrak tip: TM pix balls, chrome soft with the graphics like soccer balls, or any balls with graphics work the best on skytrak. Helps camera see rotations and reduces missed shots 👍

I do agree that skytrak is the best launch monitor on a moderate budget

I think there’s a note in the st+ book about not using RCT balls. I could be wrong I just skimmed it real quick.

Any chance you can do a review of the square golf simulator? Great review.

Do find that the accuracy of the sim is consistent with every type of software or is it more accurate with their own?

    • @GolfBusters

Depends on the device. Mevo+ is more accurate with GSPro, skytrak+ is hard to say. Its device to decide specific

Sucks ST+ has no AOA. A non starter for me. Inconsistent club speed is also a non-starter. I want to know precisely how changes in my swing impact CHS. It’s cheaper than R50 or GC3 but the compromises just aren’t worth it.

Honestly i used to agree with this, but if you understand a little angle deduction AOA really isn’t that important. For example, if your iron is 26 degrees, and your launch angle is 20 degrees, you must have delivered -6 degrees of loft on impact (dynamic loft), while this isnt exactly the same as AOA as you can deliver -6 degree downward strike with an open face for example, it is probably the most important part to understand, the dynamic loft at impact really is the key. Learning how to deliver a - 5 or 6 degree impact/launch with a mid iron will get you a nice divot, a solid strike, and good ball flight in theory, providing face angles and path are consistent, but maybe you want to open the face up, shallow the angles to get over a tree, so you want that iron to launch closer to the loft of the club, so them path moves kore out to in, face angle becomes open, launch increases 5-7 degrees, learning how to do that is more important than AOA in my opinion, as it is kind of the same thing but more useful in a practical sense.
Also club speed in my experience is overrated. No LM south of £8k measures this consistently or accurately. Focus on impact angles and ball speed and learn how they impact distance and you will quickly know whether your club speed is up. Ball speed is key to distance.
Also, if you have this machine only, and it consistently measures you 5mph lower or higher, then just focus on that number, ignore that you may be 100mph swing but this shows 95mph and just focus on getting that 95mph up…then occasionally go get measured with a coach who has a gcquad, costs £60 then have that difference to this unit in mind as you continue. Save yourself £,000s.
      Happy new year! 😊

@ while there is of course some relationship with delivered loft, how much AOA you generate has profound effects on its own. Even with putts. But especially with driver. For irons it can really help you dial in how you deliver the club efficiently. In a way you just can’t get from delivered lofts.
Other units in this range have it. Sk+ has a radar. So it’s very disappointing they can’t generate this data point. Better off just spending $5K for a R50

@ agree its disappointing if this is a deal breaker just be aware the company behind Skytrak have stated that AOA is in the works for future software updates. So hold fire making a decision if this is the only reason 👍🏻

@@barrycole5930 yah - I plunked down $20K for a QuadMax and I’m obviously extremely happy with the accuracy and instant response. And portability. I found a lot of use for lie angles as well in terms of working on how I deliver the club efficiently. Anyway - within the next few years I suspect $5-8K will get you the exact same QuadMax dataset. So it won’t be long before there is a consolidation.

The essentials plus package comes with SkyTrak+ software and Gspro or e6 would be extra

With all LM my first question is what data points are measured and what are calculated.
Every LM measures ball speed, there is no excuse for this to be inaccurate, every LM should be within 1% of the actually ball speed.
Inconsistent club head speed readings is interesting. I assume this is a measured data point, I do not think there is a technical reason for it not to be measured. But the critical issue is what part of the club is it measuring. We know that the toe of the club is moving the fastest and the heel of the club the slowest - I have been told that trackman and GCQuad will provide 2 different club head speed readings because they measure from different parts of the club and I do wonder whether that is true for ST+.
I have heard the club data can be a bit inaccurate, pleased you have found this not be the case. This is key issue for me as is the lack of angle of attack data.
One area where I find all "budget" and even some high end LMs to be bad at is spin rates. This is especially true for camera based LMs because they have so little time to measure the spin rates - I do wonder whether having a system where you input the type of ball you are using which links back to a database of launch and spin characteristics would improve things.
