Hearing The Carol of the Bells this year brought a tear to my eye and a solemn sadness to my heart. God bless Ukraine & God bless all of us. Thanks for your work on the podcast, the Telegraph team. This war touches us all. Best wishes for the future, Ukraine will win & peace will come. Slava Ukraini !
So Ukraine is going to push Russia back to the pre 2014 borders, Russia will pay for all damage done via reperations, Putin must goto the hague and be tried as a war criminal? all this stuff yeah? or did I miss something?
I read about preparations for this a few weeks ago. It sounded a bit incredulous. I'm sure it still have a lot of challenges, but I'm really encouraged about this. Anything that can put a layer of protection between Ukrainian forces and the Russian invaders is good. During this war, I had begun to think of the Ukrainians as the Israelis of Eastern Europe, in terms of the innovation they have brought to bear out of necessity. But, events are now showing that the Ukrainians are actually surpassing the Israelis in the way that they are innovating the ways wars are fought. I disagree with those who say that drone warfare with rise and decline with this war. While it is likely that each side will develop countermeasures to the other's drones, the larger significance is the adoption of the technology by smaller players in other parts of the world. Drones are going to appear on every battlefield out there.
AFU retreating on every major axis. The rate of Russian advance has increased every month since this summer, and the rasputitsa and snow haven’t slowed it.
@ “a few meters”. Look at the map changes since the summer. Also, Russian force reconstitution is going well enough that the Ukrainians consistently complain of being increasingly outnumbered.
I hate bringing it but, but the quality of the interview's translation is rather on the middling side: from the conversation fragments that I was able to hear despite the English voiceover, I have an impression that about half of the phrases (or pehaps, often, a half of each phrase..?) were not translated at all, and some were mistranslated - even simple stuff like the old lady saying that she went back once - and it having been translated as "a couple of times". I do apologize if I'm wrong about something, as it was quite hard to hear the original Ukrainian speech due to the voiceover. Also, the general gist of the conversation was still correct, it's all of the details that predominantly suffered, I think.
Question: Why not invest in modern windmills and solar panels to generate electricity? There are miles of both along US Interstate Highway in Illinois and Indiana. The crops in those fields are doing just fine, too.
I think part of is it that theyre kind of expensive in initial investment and require a lot of imported parts and Ukraine is already financially in a difficult situation, along with the new infrastructure they would need it would be an economic drain. The other part is how fragile they can be, its a lot easier to knock down a windmill and ruin it forever than to hit a specific generator in a power substation. And Solar panels literally use glass and could be hit with frag munitions really easily. They'd be hard to fortify without hurting their performance and so are impractical for a wartime state.
Russia can only take and hold cities that have been reduced to rubble. Most cities have been reduced to rubble. Russia holds most of the cities. Hmmmm.
Incorrect. Russia control approx 20% of Ukrainian territory. They have not held a single regional capital since Kherson was deoccupied. Most of Ukraine is still functioning, despite Russia's attempts to destroy it. They are far from rubble. Slava Ukrainii.
In one full year Ukraine with all the resources given to it has not managed to liberate a single town..but we are told it is winning ...if this is the definition of winning by losing town after town then and the definition of losing by liberating town after town as shown by the Russians then i have to make peace with ma English language
This is a paid Kremlin troll. Move along, they are to be ignored, they don't behave like real people and therefore should not be treated like real people.
Hmmm. The headline should perhaps have included a qualification the robots are reliant on batteries, and with specific reference to whether the batteries were charged via mains, diesel generators, solar, wind...

3:08. I like how the left-wing feminist European leaders want to be world police, but don't want to spend the money to do so. 🤣

I’m not surprised, with 30,000 Russian troops sacrificed to advance a few meters. 🙄🤡
