There’s a video on will mayo’s old Vimeo that has a shot of joe terravecchia leading out an overhung wi6+ pitch with a hilarious amount of gear and a pack using a set of quarks. They’re truly all that most people actually need if they only have pure ice aspirations.
I agree that the Quark is probably the most used and versatile axe. But the Grivel has a much better pick on it, which is why I switched over to the North Machines. bites better, more durable and overall climbs ice better. I also prefer the swing and the handle, though I'm not a fan of the spike and find it a bit pointless a lot of times when on easier terrain. But I feel the same about that collapsible hand rest on the Quark. I've seen people using the Quark with aftermarket blades which is probably the best combination of all.
Its not the season for Ice Climbing, but then again it might be the best time to get deals on ice climbing equipment so, makes sense to do a video now I guess 🙂

Another great video
Damn, you did the North Machine kinda bad here😅, for me personally it's the star in this comparison, although only by a small bit.
