Silvia Tunnell omg that’s so amazing!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!! 💕 I agree it changed my perspective on things too! Books are so amazing that they can do that 😃
I have to thank you and share with you something that happened while watching this video. When you mentioned how one is never as happy as they were as a child I had to pause the video and just ponder that thought for a while. It’s been a long time since I’ve thought about that. It is true, there is a kind of carefree happiness we lose as we get older. I started reminiscing of those days when ignorance was bliss, the days before we learned about death, wars and poverty. The days when your biggest heartbreak was your parents not buying you the toy you wanted during your last trip to the store. Then you get older and experience death and discover what REAL pain and heartbreak is. I was remembering how happy I was as a kid just running in the rain and jumping in puddles, going to the park and spinning around in circles and laughing hysterically at the sensation of dizziness it caused. Jeez, is there anyway of getting that back? If I tried jumping in a puddle these days I’d probably blow my knee out. If I try spinning around in circles I’d probably just become nauseated and 🤮 puke😂. Anyway, I hadn’t thought about those childhood days in a while, so thank you for sparking those memories Gabby. 🤗
Strangely enough this is why The Host by Stephanie Meyer is my favorite book. It has the same overall theme that humanity is a mess but that it’s the imperfections that make life worth living.
I just finished reading this book because of your recommendation. This book was beautiful. I'm in awe of this book. Thank you for the rec! It is now on my list of one of my favorite books of all time! :D
I had to stop before the spoilers and go read the book. I just finished it and finished watching your video. It was definitely as good as you said. And I think it had one of the best endings I've ever read! So thank you!!
Lovely review. I've read it once and listened to the audiobook twice. I'm rereading it again this week for a book club I'm hosting. I appreciated your thoughts and passion for the work. You're a wonderful soul. Namaste.
While reading I tend to play piano music and it so happened that Claire de lune was on the background while reading the part where the alien fell in love w the song it was a wholesome moment for me ❤ love the book
Love your book talks! It's so refreshing to see videos on all these varied and intriguing novels in my sub box - thank you for nerding out with (/to?) us!!
Thank you Abby, when I heard the synopsis from you about the humans I reaaaaally wanted to read it right away.. but I visited every bookstore here but I couldnt find it! after few months I found it in a bookstore (where I asked them about it for 3 times over a few weeks) I got so happy when I found it in the shelf there, bought it, read it, it deserves a long feedback :) - I looooved the book. finished it in 2 settings. I really enjoyed reading it. its one of my favorites now. I liked how he was able to improve the relationship btw him and his son, the love he felt for his wife (not his wife technically) how he described the odds of her existence in such a complicated way that makes sense. how his view on humans evolved over the book. funny observations about humans esp when he was naked in the streets and when the man cursed him and he moved on remembering the curse (making a goal to understand it >
Wow, to this review /discussion and this book I give an easy 5 stars! 🤩So glad I finally got around to watching this. Great job! This book not only provides great entertainment it provides some serious food for thought about life and humanity. I love how you spoke about these things, don’t you love it when a book can cause you to stop and ponder things you may otherwise not think about? I also related to the alien, too often when I think of humanity I say things like “ what the fuck are we doing, aren’t we supposed to be more evolved than this , look how we treat each other and the planet “ . We are capable of such cruelty and destruction but also tremendous acts of love and compassion. I also loved how the alien slowly fell in love with Isobel, there is a quote at the bottom of page 221 when they’re in the ambulance and she’s holding his hand that is beautiful, I was so happy that she too was falling in love with him all over again, then (spoilers)14 pages later she asks how his day went and he nonchalantly tells her he had sex with Maggie!! I was like “what the fuuuckk” 🙀😲😣, I felt so bad for Isobel. I loved the use of Emily Dickens poetry in the dialogue and chapter headings ( “ that it will never come again is what makes life so sweet “ “till I loved, I never lived “) I also liked the chapter “ the ideal castle” pg 231. I thought Ari was a hilarious character, aww poor Ari 😢. I could go on and on. Thank you so much for making this video, I hope you keep making them for the books you love most, I know the stand alone book reviews don’t get as many views as your regular videos but I really appreciate them and love hearing your thoughts 🤗.
You wonder where what came from? I was just relating my own personal experience with the quote from the book..? If that's what you meant haha sorry I guess I don't understand your question
This book changed my view of life & humanity. It's now one of my favorite books of all time and I read it because of you! thank you!!!!
