I remember liking the _Planet of the Apes_ when I was young, but in retrospect it hasn't aged well. Like, _30 minutes_ before getting to the non-human primates? One movie from *1968* that has aged well is _Night of the Living Dead._ It's great, especially because it's in black and white. I remember that the documentary on the making of the movie - _BIRTH of THE LIVING DEAD_ - is great too. Highly recommend if for your show.
This review was painful to listen to. The picture was not made to win an academy award, when the award meant something. The movie was a good movie, it dealt philosophically with important issues related to racism, racial supremacy and intellectual disabilities. The commentator tries to hard to sound ultra intelligent, it shows and he fails. I recommend the movie to all, ignore this guys views, form your own opinions. Listen to the dialogue. Believe it or not dialogue is key to any movie.

A thing that hasn't aged well is the fact that the protagonist didn't figure out that they were on *Earth* immediately. Like, did he actually believe it was *plausible* that primate-like, *ENGLISH SPEAKING* creatures evolved separately on another planet? Like, this *wouldn't* fly at all today. The moment they saw those humans and gorillas they would have known this was Earth. Also, people wouldn't accept that the humans had lost their ability to speak, or make at least bows and arrows. *Great video though! =) I subscribed.*
The time effect Taylor was talking about in the opening scene, and then after they landed, is called time dilation. The faster you go, the more time slows down. This is predicted by the Theory of Relativity and is well proven experimentally. That said, the math for what they were observing just doesn't work. In order for 3000 years to have passed on Earth while only a few years passed on the ship, they would have had to be travelling very close to the speed of light, and their distance travelled would have been almost 3000 light years but, after they landed, Taylor said they were in a solar system only 350 light years from our own. If they had taken 3000 years, Earth time to go 350 light years, they would have been travelling about 11.7% of the speed of light and the time dilation effect would have been negligible. It's mathematical gobbledygook There is just no way to reconcile the various things said. It's like in the *Blues Brothers,* where they drive 110 miles to Chicago at very high speeds but take ten or twelve hours or more to get there.
I took the year into account and watched it on my crt and that helped my experience with the movie alot lol never watched it and my knowledge comes from the Simpsons bit (DR. ZAIUS! DR. ZAIUS!)
You should let the age of a movie skew your ideas of it a little bit. Movies are reflective of the time they are made. Things like blood in movies was still new and it was always bright red at that time. Planet of the Apes was a big movie because it was an allegory for racism while the US was going through the civil rights movement. It also reflected the fear society was having over the cold war. If you watch it without the context, you get thoughts like you expressed. You might think it hasn't aged well, but I prefer to think of it as part of history. History is what it is and the more you know of the context the more appreciation you can have for it. But I like that you gave the movie a fair shot. I know plenty of kids who have never tried watching a movie from before 2000. Concerning the video quality what version were you watching? Because masters are film and they copy that for other formats. It loses quality for formats like VHS. When they remaster a movie for something like BluRay they're digging out the original film and recording it again in higher detail. So all that high def goodness was there originally and people saw it that way in theaters. Just something to keep in mind. Also humans had a few thousand years before the year 0. I think the apes evolved pretty fast for only 3000 years, which they explain how they made such progress so quickly in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, which I won't spoil if you haven't gotten to that one yet. Personally I think it's the best one of the originals.
I wanted to review the movie as a 21 year old who isn’t in that time. That’s why I mention at the end that the legacy and such is not to be touched as I understand movies have their time in history. As will the movies I grew up with when I’m older. I don’t know what version I was watching but it didn’t look that great. The one I downloaded is the blu ray version though. looked superb. The lore according to the other movies is that the apes were enslaved by humanity but evolved to speak and took control of humans blew each other up right? So they had the foundation of the humans to use. The biggest problem I have is that they only have one colony after 3,000 years. But the fact that they are all so far behind is weird to me in the grand scheme

I saw in another comment that you saw the 4th and 5th one so I'll explain my take. Caesar was the first smart ape(gotta love paradoxes), and at the same time humans were breeding apes to be smarter. But even though they were smarter they weren't to the level of Caesar. So Caesar single-handedly had to teach them how to talk. He was their only teacher until he died. Meanwhile major cities are wiped out from nukes, so there aren't a lot of placers to go. So you have a small community of slightly advanced apes. Basically the equivalent of cave men. Some probably spread to to other areas but overall they're still dumb so they have a lot of small communities. There might be another ape settlement of a similar size 20 miles away, but it's not mentioned because it's not relevant to the story. As for the guns they didn't make them, they found them. Given another 1000 years and they'll probably have boats and stuff. Just my take on it.
For the amount of dog piling people are doing with this video, it really isn’t that bad. I feel like a lot of people saw the title and thought this was a hit piece on the movie. Which it isn’t, you genuinely give credit where it’s due. And let’s be honest, the pacing in this almost 2 hour movie isn’t the best sometimes, I felt that take the most. It’s obvious this is your first video like this and making videos where you want to get your feelings and opinions is hard. If I can offer any stinky advice for what it’s worth, maybe make some videos about stuff you really like, then go to stuff you aren’t big on. I don’t know why but for me at least, it’s always easier to explain why I like something, then it helps me look at why I don’t like something that else. Look forward to the rest of this smelly stuff and seeing what you do next.
