Why not? They got rid of the Facebook account requirement (aka you don't need to give your real name anymore), you have two functioning eyes, and live somewhere the Quest 2 is easily accessible... There's MORE than enough fantastic VR games to buy a headset for now!

This actually brings up an interesting question, what kind of architecture are these future moon base computers running? Are they still X86_64, perhaps ARM or some other RISC based architecture. Perhaps they're some form of hybrid optical and quantum computing architecture. All quantum computers require classical computers to input commands and interpret results and optical quantum computers could theoretically work at most any temperature.
It's a damn good version.
I wish they would've added a knife-throwing mechanic but that more of nice to have.

The funniest part of this port is still the official trailer that calls the fear of chainsaws "Kanayaphobia", which is either an unpaid intern looking up the first result on Google or someone who knew Exactly what they were doing on the same level as the Goatse NGage.

Considering the near pornographic phone game ads I've seen on Facebook, taking out a few lines of mostly moderate flirting (ballistics line is inappropriate to say to a girl you just met, though) is absurd. It's extra crazy because having RE4 on their machine is way more effective an ad than anything I've seen on FB. I own ports of RE4 I haven't even touched yet, I'd love to mess with it in VR!

Yes Luis saying that to Ashley is inappropriate but the thing is he is suppsosed to a bit of a sleazebag. Neutering dialogue like this just makes everything more bland. Just because he says it, that doesn't mean it's ok. It's a game after all and in this case a gruesome and violent one. The logic eludes me that a flirty character then is going too far.

they announced that facebook accounts are not going to be required, but will need a meta account, owned by meta who owns facebook. so if you dont trust facebook i assume you won't trust a meta account or oculus one.

It was a lot more intense than I was expecting. My mind was blown when I was in a house been attacked by the towns people I missed a blew a hole in the door behind them
I got a Quest 2 within the past few weeks and I've been loving RE 4 VR. So far it's my favorite VR game and definitely my new favorite version of the game

I believe that RE4VR is the definitive way to play the game IF YOU HAVE THE MEANS. It'd an incredible port and while things like Mercenaries being cut initially kinda sucks, the news that it is coming back as a FREE update is sick. Separate Ways and Assignment Ada I can also see making a return. I hope that Capcom decides to do one of thr Co-op games for another VR port, potentially RE5 since it isn't as large as say RE6. The next best thing I can hope for is a modern console release out RE Outbreak File 1 and 2. If they do get made, I really hope capcom keeps all the good things intact. Excellent video review by the way, as per usual!

Two things I hate in video gaming, censorship of any kind and arbitrary exclusivity (add MTX and you'll have the unholy trifecta), games are art, these are an affront to that.

I can't even count the amount of times that I got jump scared by Ashley 😂. I can also personally attest to the grenade problem for women 😑. I found that briefly glancing down to look at the grenade first helped quite a bit. It was a little annoying, but I got used to it pretty quickly.
You have to admit, though. That is one hilarious problem to have.

Ignore slateran, stand your ground. You don't "need" any video game, and by the time you're knee deep in your next one, you wont care about RE4VR anymore.
Give it a while, it's not just a timed exclusive thing probably. It is pandemic times, it'll probably take time to even optimize the port to another VR device (and they might not do that until Mercenaries is out).

I wish Bethesda took this kind of care when they ported Skyrim and Fallout 4 in VR. A lot of VR conversions don't feel right because the scale of the various assets are off and you notice imposter cards more when you have depth, but this game feels like it was built specifically for VR and it shows.

Not everyone wants to buy an Oculus quest, and either way Oculus is owned by Facebook so I don't think DreamcastFan would touch the headset.
Nice Glad to see Derek Playing more RE4, but the odd and awesome VR edition, I'm shocked Metal Jesus got a shout out here, let alone helping out to make this video a reality, but in the end I'm glad to see two UA-camrs I like work together, even if they are a odd pairing I didn't see coming, all in all great fun and I will expect a Update Video or Two on RE4 VR with the Post Launch Content Drops, with Mercs incoming and I definitely could see the Ada Wong Side Stories thrown in after Mercs is complete, honestly I just feel like it's gonna have more and more content to talk about down the line.

Man, I wish Marvel Strike Force was a fighting game, maybe with tag and assist mechanics to rope in the team thing, and they could even use the whole universe colliding thing in order to pull a Fortnite and have guest characters, maybe characters from other games, like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry, etc.
I mean imagine Wolverine trading blows with someone like Ryu, I would pay anything to play that.
Such a game would never exist. Next you'll want it on Game Pass or something!
RE7 was my first VR game, and also the first RE game I finished. Mostly because it was such a polished VR game, and it drew me further into the RE series.
Armature studios are cool, they also did the PSVita ports of MGS HD Collection. They added some new stuff that made the Vita versions easier to play as well, like accessing menus with the touchscreens. I'm completely off on a tangent now, but they even re-recorded a handful of the conversations to take these changes into account!
I was 100% aware that the demand for censorship came from Facebook, but Capcom still complied. And while that alone wouldn't be a complete deal breaker, even if it WASN'T censored, the fact that it's Oculus exclusive honestly is a deal breaker.
And I'm sure Facebook wouldn't care about censoring those lines if we weren't in another moral panic about video games.The people in charge don't care about artistic integrity but money/press.
Oculus/Meta 100% funded this game's development dipshit... Why should it be on other platforms when they paid for it??? This is like demanding Sony put The Last of Us on the Xbox... 😑
Also, the Quest's are basically the only VR headset people own anyways. The only other headset with any real amount of market-share is the $1000 Valve Index and it's likely only sold around ≈1/20th the units as Quests (20mil vs 1mil). This isn't like Xbox vs PlayStation where there's multiple platforms with large install bases. There's Meta, and that's basically fucking it.

I think what we need to do about examples of censorship is not to get purely hung up on the isolated game that it is, but to see what the people responsible for that decision do outside of said game.
And to that degree, Facebook is the LAST company that should be going around removing innocuous jokes from an M-rated game. One that also *has those lines in like 8 different still-currently-available versions. PHYSICALLY TOO.* What the hell are you even censoring when I can buy RE4 on Steam or on Switch or on Xbox *360* or shit like that and they're uncensored? You're just gonna HIGHLIGHT their absence.

Its a perfect port to VR and just shows that the future of video games is in VR. It perfectly mixes that feeling of being a badass Leon Kennedy while stillbeing terrifying.

@@calebb7012 Bruh... some sex jokes being removed isn't 90% of the game's humor. I literally counted only 6 dialogue changes. Most of them being 1 line cut, or some just being slightly changed. THAT'S ALL! Oh and now you can't look up her skirt, wow we're certainly worse off without these changes.
If all you found entertaining and humorous about RE4's dialogue were the sex jokes you need to broaden your sense of humor dude.

Nope...There has literally NEVER been a confirmation of an RE4 remake happening at all, beyond people constantly pulling things from their ass for video views on UA-cam....Probably the same people who keep farting out every few months that Bloodborne is getting a PC port that never happens.

That last point about Oculus ditching the Facebook account... yeah nah, that's never happening. Considering Oculus headsets are being rebranded under the Meta name, so the Oculus Quest will become the Meta Quest (which sounds fuggin stupid imo), Facebook account requirements are here to stay.
