I owned 3 first gen firebirds back in the early 70s but only on 68 convertible. It was a super rare sprint with the 250ci 6cyl and the 4bbl carb. I just love the styling, but I've seen too many with the goofy rear deck lid mod that I've lost count. It really ruins the clean beauty of the first generation of this beautiful car.
Thanks for the memories! I owned 3 first gen firebirds back in the early 70s and this brings back fond memories. I've seen too many restorations with the goofy rear deck lid mod that I've lost count. It really ruins the clean beauty of the first generation of this beautiful car.
Many of these long commercials were played in a movie theater before the main feature and at the end include a local dealer name. A way for the theater to make extra money to a captured audience.
wow didn't know they came out before paved roads. Cave man days I guess. Imagine how much nicer a good handling sports car would be on pavement. The future will blow their minds. lol
I would not be racing one without a top around corners on hillsides. Racing helmet and convertibles. I suppose back then thry raced the Shelby with no roof. A roll bar would be convinient during a roll over.
My Gosh I wish they make these again all the classics such beautiful cars💪💪👍👍💯💯
Great ad ! I own two 68s . One convertible, one hardtop.
There's two in my neighbourhood; a navy blue convertible and a beige hard top that's out at the local shop. Sexiest looking cars ever
I just bought a 68 350 H.O.
And does that psychotic music play in the background as you drive them, 🤣
@@stonyman4062 Those are rare man, hold on to it. Beautiful car…

Horrible how the older cars used to handle. I myself had a 1969 firebird convertible and a 69 hardtop cornering was not their strongpoint. ❤
Love the Firebird!

I wonder how many Firebirds sat in the driveway waiting for it's owner to comeback from Vietnam.
Compared to today they were works of art.
Back when cars were fun.
The Firebird was always a better car than the Camaro.. much nicer in everything.
Agreed! I had a Formula 400 4-bbl with 4 on the floor. People would ask me if I still had my Camaro! 🤮
Well I would expect that because Pontiac was higher than Chevrolet.
Yep! Camaros are nice too, but Firebird is better looking in my opinion.
Beautiful
and still hot today back when GM made real cars

Before my time
Pontiac, probably one of the best values of the GM divisions dollar for dollar back then.
Firebird....."Who needs 4 wheel drive?" :)
Yeah, love the old adds
The 1970-73 are my personal favourite body styling years, but the 67' is gorgeous still. Where is that music from?
I agree Danny. Especially the T/A line. After 73, does nothing for me.
Agree with you 100% Danny, 70/73 are the best looking body style for me, and my second favorite are either 67/68 specially with ram air 400 4sp… 👍
@@sergiojacquez2277 And I'll second that. :)
Where's a nearest dirt road
🤘💀🤘
Apparently, taking a sports car off road used to be a thing.
Unlike today those cars could handle it.
