You're awesome! Thank you for all these great videos.
Darrel thank you. Another great tutorial. This looks like a "same thing only different" to creating slo-mo in the inspector with key points.
such great tutorials! i feel like i'm always learnin' somethin' new from you! i also just want to say how much i appreciate your ending tag of "take after yourselves"-such a simple thing, but i love that wholesomeness
Thanks Kevin. appreciated.
Darren, thank you! This is straight to the point, and amazingly explained.
Thank you - appreciated
You managed to pack a lot of tips into this one as well as the primary topic of slow motion. Nice one Darren - thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it
There's always something to learn from your videos. Please don't stop. And thank you!
More to come!
Incredible tutorial as always. I'm learning so much following your videos. Thanks! ❤
Glad you like them!
Thanks Darren. Your vids are so informative. Appreciate the info from an experienced professional.
Glad you like them!
Honestly, this is the best explanation of the retime tools and slow motion tips I've seen. Good job!
please share the knowledge - share the link on your social media. Glad you liked it.
Straight to the point.Thank you!!
I always know that I’ll learn something new from your tutorials. Keep up the good work!

Darren, I’ve been binging on your tutorials recently; your explanations are the best! Thank you so much!
Glad you like them! Thank you so much appreciated.
The no intro move is always the best move. 10/10 thanks!
Now I have to go out to shoot footage compatible with these techniques. Thanks for putting me to work. As usual, perfectly explained. Much appreciated.
Thanks as always Adam! Appreciated
This has to be THE best tutorial on slow motion with DaVinci Resolve. Thank you so much! You have a new subscriber 🔥☀🔥
thanks - thats an old video now too! appreciated and welcome!
Best DaVinci Resolve tutorials i have ever seen, including quite some costly ones. Darran, you are quick, clear, well prepared and extremely skilled. I like how i learn about tools and skills that are not even the main topic of a specific tutorial - and this in a very short amount of time per video. Watching a tutorial in 1.0x speed doesn't happen that often to me anymore ;P. Awesome work!
Thanks for the kind words David. I work hard to make sure content is delivered concisely and accurately. Make sure you subscribe to my email list, might be good for you - eepurl.com/hob0oH And spread the good word! All the best, darren.
This was so awesome! Fantastic!
Glad you enjoyed it!
LOVE THE NO-INTRO concept ...and awesome tutorial Darren. Thanks
Why people do intros longer than needed always baffled me anyway! Glad you like the channel. All the best, Darren
I learn so much everytime I watch your channel. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
Great info Darren. Resolve is getting so good..
Thank you.
I learned like 5 different things I didn't know in this video. Thank you 😊
Thank you again for your efforts. So much to learn and you teach it so well. Yes, smaller chunks of info seems better for some of us learners. 6 to 8 minutes seems best. You pack a lot in which is great, so I just review and review again. Please keep it up. We need you.
You're very welcome Jack. Thanks for letting me know - its really useful to know what people want - it's your channel as much as mine ! All the best.
Thanks again, Darren. There’s always something to learn! Great channel!
Glad to hear you like it.
Big thank you for the this, complete newbie to resolve. Loving the series. 🙏🏼
Glad it was helpful!
awesome tutorial as always Darren, picked up a couple of handy tricks. Thanks.
Good to hear!
Perfect explanation for making slomo videos in DR!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Janhit.
Also huge props for not having boring recurring pointless intros!
changing the cursor for ripple sequence was just an insane tip for me! Thanks a lot, I was struggling with moving the clips forward and backwards when using time controls
Glad it helped!
Awesome!!!! I’ve found optical flow used with speed warp so good that in most instances it’s just as good as shooting in a much higher frame rate. It’s saved me many times when I forget to capture my slow motion clips👍
It will never be as good as shooting higher frame rates, but I know what you mean - it's impressive. All the best.
This is what I am really searching or before moving from FCP to Davinci. Thanks a lot!
Glad it was helpful!
BY FAR the best tutorials watched another guy do a 10x longer way I knew there was a better way! Ur a legend
thank you Talal
Useful, speedy succinct and accurate, as I have recently come to appreciate from all your videos. Many thanks :)
Great to hear! Thanks for letting me know Ian - feedback positive or negative always appreciated so i can make this channel the best resource.
Very good and to the point again. Keep them coming!
I ja kažem!
Thank you - will do!
Quick and to the point. Bravo. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Hi Darren. Superb tutorial, from a first-rate educator.
Thanks again
Glad you liked it!
Dude, These videos are super helpful thank you so much
Glad you like them!
Thank you, good tutorial
Well explained! thank you Darren
Thank you James.
Brilliant tutorial, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
There are many DaVinci Resolve teaching videos on UA-cam, but your video is simple, clear and easy to understand. English is a little fast, but ... it's a great video. Thanks.
You can play at a slower speed ? Glad you like it though, appreciated.
Awesome video! Thanks!
I been playing about a lot over the last few days with slomo, never new that it worked different if you had the arrow or the edit tool selected, i should have thought of trying that, i now almost right click on eveything as so many more options pop up. another good vid
thanks Ste
Thought I was familiar with the retiming. Learned something new additionals from this. Thanks.
glad it helped.
Love this channel - straight to the point and always super helpful tips! Subbed and Belled :)
Thank you for subscribing - really appreciated! Glad you loving the channel - I work hard on it. All the best.
Awesome from the best of the best!👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Exactly what i was looking for! Thank you.
Glad I could help!
Great vid !!
Thanks Darren !! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it
Recently shot some drone footage at 50fps and couldn't see any slow motion on the timeline. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Darren.
I never knew about the 'render in place' tip and then decomposing it back to the original. That's a very helpful tip, thanks for the explanation!
Yes I showed that a while back but I will revisit old tips as not everyone has viewed all my episodes and I have new subscribers now who may not look through the back catalogue. Thank you anyway Conor - appreciated.
Just using the different areas of the speed point was worth the price of admission alone. Great tutorial.
What Price of Admission are you talking about? Welcome It's free mate!
Thank you!
Excellent, straight to the points.
thanks
Really nice tip!! Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Darren Mostyn, as always, straight to the point!
You know me! Not even an intro now!
@@DarrenMostyn Lucky you! hehe
@@-PiP- Intro's - that is so 2020! Also ... lockdown - need a serious barber session!
@@DarrenMostyn I think you might be right! :)
incredibly helpful! thank you soooo much!
You're very welcome.
Amazing tips!!! thanks so much!
Thank you Jorge.
Great tips! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
My first thought was like:
- Oh, probably I will not learn anything new from that tutorial. But man I was wrong! Excellent video! Thanks again Darren 👍🏻
Good to hear! That is what I try to deliver every time. All the best.
I have to agree with DKH - don't we already know this stuff? But yeah, as always, very informative, surprisingly useful!
@@jonesfotodirector Thank you Jason.
Very good explanation, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent
Really good video mate, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
I'm very impressed thank you
I'm glad you enjoying my channel.
Another great video! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Great stuff!
You're very welcome!
Great!
Crisp and to the point.
Thank you. Appreciated.
I realy like using Retime curve, whit retime speed selected and changing keyframe to spline
Thanks 👍🏽
Very clear ! Thank you ! An information that I can't find though on youtube is : what is instead of 50%, I set the speed of my (50fps) clip at 75% or 80% (which are not multiple of 25)? My clip then runs a bit choppy but, can I make it smooth using the tools you showed at the end ? I guess i'll give it a try.
Top job Darren as always. I’m using the Render in Place feature a load at the moment to get round an issue I’m having with Fusion graphics and DYRGB Colour Managed not playing ball. Works so well. Hope you’re well. Would be great to catch up soon!
Thanks Alex. Good to hear from you.
Great video, thanks! If you’re accepting topic ideas: it might be basic stuff, but I get very confused between the different editing modes that you briefly mentioned (trim mode etc). I would love a comprehensive overview of those!
Thanks for the suggestion. Good to know.
Nothing to say, as usual, the best tutorial. Almost 10 hrs i spend with resolve everyday. But your videos give me a bit more confidence. Thank you. Just a request, could you please upload a video on qualifies...
Thank you Bipin. Pleased to hear it. Will add qualifiers to my ever growing list. All the best.
Thanks for sharing man, I learned something new!
Thanks David.

@@DarrenMostyn Done!!! :)
Fantastic. I would never dream of going to 25% but it works.
Hi John. Also this is only first level frame rates (x2). 100 - 240 fps is now accessible to many - slow motion never looked so good!
I've learned 3 or 4 things man! Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Great stuff. Subs are increasing - you deserve it. From a nerdy perspective it would be interesting to see screenshots of your settings. There are so much info ;debayer, metal, audio stuff etc. As a mac user I could really use a look at a pros settings and then of course adapt my settings from there. Just a thought 💭🖖
Hi. Im running pretty much as default. My GPU is set to Metal.
I love two things with this. 1) It's cool to see that I really have learned how to use Resolve well over the years and 2) There are always little tips I can pickup no matter my experience level. In this case, showing the order you try things to get the interpolation to looks it's best was extremely useful!
Good to hear Jeremy. Working hard on these. please share the knowledge - share the link on your social media.

you are cutting it Darren . thank you

Great tutor
Glad it was helpful!
Optical Flow on a clip level? That's awesome, I've been accustomed to turning it on (on the project level) as my last step before rendering. Great to know I can keep it isolated to clips to that need it. Thanks!
glad that helped.
Adapting a thought by Milan Kundera. This tutorial is the unsustainable lightness of the
knowledge.
Thanks Darren Mostyn
thank you Marques.
nicely explained. I learned one other thing from you though, how to pack too much knowledge in too little time. subbed.
Thanks for the sub! I don't have enough time in my life to waffle on - straight to the point always. Thanks Samrat.
You’ve making magic

Nice Work!
Thanks!
The video was really good. I was hoping you will explain about making the speed change smooth using the curves. Do make a video on that
I was going to include it in this one, but was looking to make a few shorter episodes. My episodes seem to be getting longer and I want to trim them back into more digestible/user friendly episodes. Looking at my analytics i get a huge drop off after about 4 or 5 minutes - I don't think people want to watch long episodes unless its live. Thanks for commenting though. All the best.
@@DarrenMostyn yeah making short videos is always better. But do make a video on speed curves too
Hi Darren. Yikes! Glad this channel got picked up for me! Really, really helpful and well presented. BobUK
Welcome aboard! Not been going a year yet so its not on youtubes high priority list. Enjoy!
great
The is effing fantastic. I will incorporate this as I record at 50 frames.
Going from fast to,slow van be very dramatic. Thanks.
I’m a. Davinci virgin so binge watching what I may need for my travelling videos.
Fast, easy, clean
Glad you like it!
thanks
No problem
Wow!
🙏
This is my favorite video you made. #30k
Can't help but notice you have the "old" round Resolve logo, not the new (more Instagram) rectangular. Haven't heard a word about the change from anyone! Seriously world class tutorials, and as a self-taught production/post semi-pro, I really respect people who deliver vetted professional methods with respect for time! Started with DaVinci 14, but just a huge upgrade on my fundamentals. Thanks for passing on so much usable insight...
Thank you - glad you are enjoying the tutorials.
Good video. Do you have any on how to do speed ramps?
Not yet. You should sign up to me exclusive email list - not spammy -its just for things like my free give aways and news that I might want to share exclusively. All the best. eepurl.com/hob0oH
Thank you for such a straight on tips! I completely agree with @
DKH ART
Appreciated. Thank you.
Great episode - Could you do an episode on those edit page tools (arrow, the red and the yellow one and the razor) - I simply cannot get my head around the red and the yellow ones.
OK, good to know. I'll add it to my list - not promising soon though!
@@DarrenMostyn sounds great
@@DarrenMostyn Let me try to clarify a bit: I am really wondering, when and for what you switch to these tools rather than just sticking with the 'arrow'. I have an OK workflow with the 'arrow', but whenever I try to understand how my workflow could benefit from the red and yellow tools, I struggle to see it - I am also not really sure, what the difference is between the two. Everything, just becomes very complicated (to me), when I switch to those.
Starting to sound like a real fanboy, but I guess I am. Nice job explaining that process.
Cheers Jim! Its old stuff but I feel like people want my take on it - it was requested a fair bit. I think its good to get back to fundamentals every now and again.
slow motion - what don't I know? (plays 7 min video) - ok, bookmarking, so much info. this is great, as usual, thanks
Thank you. Im surprised how many people are saying that on this one ? Shall I do more editing episodes??
Great video. If you "render in place" is that just in the cache? Or how does that work? Is it just for that session?
Not in cache, no. Its a new file. It can be rendered anywhere - dialogue box for loaction pops up after you choose to Render IN Place. Its permanent there until you revert to original or you can just leave it and that is your new master file.
@@DarrenMostyn Thank you for your answer! BTW, I'm not sure I see where to download your node tree setup and whatnot, I believe you referred to it in your live Resolve event the other day.
