Hi Andy - After watching your videos, I am rewriting my resume. Your tips make total sense. Instead of a "career profile", I had a core competency table before, which is now gone, and replaced by a career profile using the format you suggested. I love how you frame the "career highlights" section, i.e., this is a shift to the future, helping them imagine what it's like to have me in their future. What a powerful approach! What I used to have were what I was doing. Now they read like the impact/benefits I have generated as a result of my work. Thank you!

Interesting that you mention at 8:20 about growing up in a rough neighborhood. My own problem is that despite earning a master's degree after growing up in a rough neighborhood, I'm still not getting the opportunity to earn the type of money that would allow me to move to a neighborhood of my choosing.
Thank you, Andy. How would you distinguish between the career highlights and the experience bullet points? Anything, in particular, that you suggest making different?
Daniel. Check out my video on how to show your value: ua-cam.com/video/X99idQhj5Ro/v-deo.html. That’s how to pick the highlights. Also, the highlights are the exact same bullet as the one in your professional experience section. I also recently did a live show in resume highlights. It’s in the LIVE section of my UA-cam channel. What do you recommend for a person who has been out of work for a long time, which leaves gaps in your employment history, and is just getting back into the job market? Therefore, if you have been out of work for a period of time you need to start over from the bottom up regardless of where you left off.
Thank you very much Andrew! It is very useful video, which gave me understanding of how a successful resume should be written. If it possible, could you make more videos for professionals who have changed their work field once and then after a several years would like to back to a previous industry they used to work in, please.
I am now going to apply to a job and I have worked with the recruiter. He has hired me one time before (no this is a new employer, not the same as hired us before) Should I call first, ask him about whats most important if applying to the current job? Ask some questions about the job?
Yes, reach out to your contact. I would ask some of the key questions about the role to help put you in a great position. Check out my video, 6 Big Questions to Ask the Recruiter in a Job Interview Screen.
What are your thoughts on using a Google Voice phone number on your resume instead of listing your personal cell phone number? Some advantages include that Google Voice transcribes all of your voicemails and sends you a text message with the transcription, and you don't have to expose your personal number all over the Internet and to numerous strangers.
Hi Dan! I would go with the number that is easiest for individuals to use to reach you. I've contacted job candidates in the past using Google Voice and it didn't bother me any. You may consider turning off the call screening option while you're actively job searching if you think that will help. Good luck!

Well, no one told me this before today's interview, so I prepared for the SALES interview. Never had this happen. Makes me NOT trust them. Anyone else out there have this happen? The phone screen was for inside sales. Weird.... Thanks!
