0:01: 📜 The Abbasid caliphate, which ruled for five centuries, was a period of military dominance, city construction, scholarly brilliance, and technological innovation in the Islamic world. 4:21: 💥 After a year-long bloody siege, the city fell and the caliph was captured and executed. The new caliph, Al-Ma'mun, formed an alliance with the Alids, a powerful family descended from Ali, the fourth caliph and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad. However, this alliance led to major revolts in Baghdad, causing Al-Ma'mun to abandon it and impose new religious doctrines on the caliphate. 8:28: 💥 The IX century saw radical changes in military tactics, including the use of specialized troops armed with petroleum-based weapons and the recruitment of Turkish slave soldiers who became skilled cavalry and archers. 12:36: 💥 The Abbasid caliphate faced internal conflicts and struggles for power, leading to a decade of anarchy and challenges to their authority. 17:24: 💥 The Abbasid authority collapsed in Arabia, with a Shiite group attacking pilgrims and stealing the Black Stone, while Persian dynasties gained independence and the Abbasid caliph became a powerless figurehead. 22:16: 💥 The Abbasid caliphate regained independence in the 12th century but was soon destroyed by the Mongols in the 13th century. 26:31: 💔 The last Abbasid caliph was captured and taken prisoner by the Ottoman Empire, marking the end of their significant political power. Greatly looking forward to each episode of this series! Muslim conquest and culture is so rich that it’s important for everyone to receive its full human story. Thank you EHT!!! 👏👏
Finally it's here! What a truly epic narration of the early Muslim history. I don't typically hear about much of the Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates as it's usually always starting with the Ottomans or sometimes hear about the Seljuk Turks and Fatimids during the Crusasdes, but I've always wondered just how the Muslim world came to be and it's often glossed over. And my god, the quote about the Tigris river's waters "running black with ink" from all the books thrown there is such a chilling and badass description. Now I eagerly want to see how you would handle the history of the Mongol Empire from Genghis Khan down to its fall as well. Knowing they were the last Far East Asian power to take on European and Middle Eastern powers until the Japanese's Imperial rise. But of course, in good time. Thank you so much Epic History for covering this period. I'm excited to resume to the conclusion of Napoleon's campaign in Italy and hope there are more about him to cover such as in Egypt and his plans to take power. Seeing as how, Ridley Scott has produced a full motion picture about him!

the end of Hulagu was terrifying. He died naked in the desert of Iraq, barking like a dog in a state of epilepsy, and he was urinating on himself (as mentioned by Muslim historians). He suffered a stroke and also from epilepsy after the defeat of Ain Jalut and the series of many heavy humiliating defeats that he suffered in front of his Muslim cousin Berke Khan and the Muslim Golden Horde espeasiclly his defeat at the river of terek where he lost 200,000 of his soldiers who destroyed Baghdad

It would have been important to show why the "Islamic" empire was special compared to Europe, what was the role of the "umma", the "jihad" and the "salvation-preserving community".
I hope that this series of videos means the channel's entry into the vast Asian region. There are still so many videos to make. For example, to tell about other great Asian empires, such as the Chinese dynasties or the Sassanid Empire. You can tell about great generals, such as Nadir Shah or Timur. Ma'mun is probably the best caliph from a persian point of view(excluding the shi'a). His mother was of iranic origin and he trusted his army to Tahir dhul-yaminayn, a persian who effectively won him his throne. As a result Ma'mun made him the governor of Khorasan and he established the first persian dynasty of islamic era Persia. From this point onwards persian intermezzo started to flourish. The earliest of persian poets writing poems in Farsi(rather than arabic) is from this era.
Good video, my comments about the title, because the Islam golden age is the time of the prophet (p.a.h), we are talking here about material and technology but the life in general.

The reason that the Türks and other Turkic nomads were formidable warriors was that they were horse-archers. A horse-archer specifically denotes a mounted warrior armed with a bow who can shoot from horseback while riding. The Turkic nomadic warriors as well as the Mongols used the composite bow, which was made of horn, wood, and sinew. The composite bow was more accurate and had a better range and rate of fire than muskets and early firearms. The tactical principles of the Turkic horse-archers were based on the combination of fire power and mobility. yhe nomadic horse-archers shot in volleys, weakening the enemy before they charged. Ideally, they practiced "fire power in movement" like modern armies.Other things being equal, the horse-archers were often almost unbeatable on the open battlefields. Against them, sedentary soldiers were often helpless until the development of efficient battlefield handguns, including the repeating firearms (the firearms that could be fired repeatedly before being manually reloaded) in the seventeenth century.
@@hunterthompson6737 they were very effective against crusders knights. They were lightning fast and noone could catch them so of course they circle around the armies and attack any weak spots or just fast attacks and retreat.
The geographer al-Istakhri, writing in the next century, commented on the 24 preparedness of the frontier men of Shash (modern Tashkent) and Farghana" for war" This encouraged the Caliphs', he goes on, to recruit men from Transoxania and the Turks became their armies because of their because of their superiority of all other races [ajnas] in bravery, daring, courage and fearlessness. The nobles [dahaqin] of Transoxania were their [i.ethe Caliphs] officers [quwwäd], retinue [hawashi] and chosen servants because of their attentiveness in service their obedience and their fine appearance in uniform. So they formed the retinue of the Caliphs, their trusted attendants and the heads of their armies, like the Turks and the Faraghina who formed the palace guard [shiḥna].

Every time I watch a video about the middle east I realize how little I know about the history of the region and the complexity of the past disputes.
3/4ths of the Mongol regions converted to Islam and later went on to create empires like the Mughals in India, Golden Horde in Russia, and the Timurids in Central Asia
You must be naive to think timur are islamic warrior. He killed millions muslim & try to made allies with crusader
Yeah and like the rest of the muslims they also had big slave trade killd tousends of inocennt people and where no Match for the europeans.
@@kingconstantinusthesadisti133 he actually didn’t side with crusaders and he was actually a prominent Muslim, but he was still killing people at the same time he forcefully converted people to lslam

Thank you for making Arab conquests content Salute to you & Kings &Generals
Best channel on UA-cam I literally cannot stop talking about it. It might be ruining my social life. I need Napoleon in Italy pt 5 NOW
Finally! Going to be there guys! It will be epic! You're the best!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
I like how the narrator pronounce every single word correctly!
One of the best channels on all of UA-cam....just WOW!!!
Gorgeous piece of history, thanks for being here 🙏
No words to describe this astonishing work, please keep going ❤
Events are explained in a very dramatic style which is really captivating. I like your style of presentation
Wonderful artworks! Great narration. Thanks for yet another great video.
WOWWwww.................
that last line from the commentator gave me goosebumps!!!
You mean about raid shadow lehends or the patreon?
@EpichistoryTV Thank you for yet another outstanding piece of work on the Abbasid dynasty.
Congratulations on 2 million subscribers in advance You will reach 10 million subscribers soon Your channel is one of the best channels on UA-cam without a doubt👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing work as always. Really loved the hashashin breakdown.
The music you use to symbolize trouble is so ominous, its absolutely perfect in conveying the emotion you are after.
By far the greatest documentaries on UA-cam
Thank you very much for the video. Indeed, the Mongols destroyed what was one of the greatest civilizations that ever emerged. Point to note, there were many more incidents in between. As a Muslim, I hope that Muslims come together and show the world how great we can be. I suggest you do a follow-up video on how the Mongols were stopped by the Mamluks. Also, I suggest you do a video about Salahuddin who freed Jerusalem. Best.
I would love to see a series on the Rise & Fall of the Mongols.
Eagerly waiting for yet another masterpiece 😍
Amazing production. Everything on point. Better than Netflix.
Another amazing video! thanks EHTV!
20:50 Ayeeeeee there's where my love of this period got started (Little later but Assassin's Creed really got me going)
the end of Hulagu was terrifying.
He was deceived by someone who was serving the Abbasid caliph, and Hulagu trusted this person because he helped him.
Do Muslims not suffer strokes or evacuate themselves on death?
Hulagu was incompetent and not like his ancestors like Genghis. If Genghis was there it will be more catastrophic.
Source? moslem propaganda. Israel has beated moslem forces many times. Why allah doesn't help you now?
False he died in north-western Iran near Zarrineh rûd (Zarrineh river) near lake Urmia.
Umayyad dynasty in Islamic Spain for the first 3 centuries was equally progressive in science, technology etc as the Abbasids, who brutally wiped out the Umayyads, except one Prince who managed to escape,Abd Al Rahman, who against the odds, remarkably revived Umayyad rule in Spain.
It wasn’t progressive
God the music in the beginning and ending of the video is something else❤
It would have been important to show why the "Islamic" empire was special compared to Europe, what was the role of the "umma", the "jihad" and the "salvation-preserving community".
"Each of your breaths is a priceless jewel, since each of them is irreplaceable and once gone, can never be retrieved"

I hope that this series of videos means the channel's entry into the vast Asian region. There are still so many videos to make. For example, to tell about other great Asian empires, such as the Chinese dynasties or the Sassanid Empire. You can tell about great generals, such as Nadir Shah or Timur. In your style, it would be incredibly interesting to watch.
There was one caliph that did have political power during their time in the mamluk sultanate, Al-Musta'in . I think its worth mentioning.
Good video, my comments about the title, because the Islam golden age is the time of the prophet (p.a.h), we are talking here about material and technology but the life in general.
Masterpiece of a documentary.
Thank you EPIC HISTORY.
Your documentaries are epic. You live up to your name. Well done.
There is no video that explains history properly in the world but epic history tv make more interesting no one can't match it from great graphics to great rulers and leaders in brief and depth like no other this is most experienced and all works made by them can be understood by everyone in easy way there is no one that's explain this much properly that can be understood 👍🌝🔥🔥🔥
Finally, I have waiting this video for two months🎉🎉🎉
If only I could travel in time to see the golden age of Islam
You would bring modern diseases with you and kill your ancestors, preventing yourself from being born. 😄
Besides, they will think you're dressed funny, and you would miss the internet, to share your 9th century adventures with your peers on social media.
The golden age of modern man is not that bad, and we are living in it. And we can see video's about Golden Ages as much as we like.
Thanks for this incredible video ,would love to see epic history tv do a series on early Muslims expansion including the legendary general khalid bin walid sword of God like you guys done for napoleon
Been checking daily for this
It is amazing. The only thing I would say is that this era needs more than two videos to cover at least as the Napoleonic era. In addition, I encourage to post more videos 🙏
So Turks basically become a pretorian guard in Rome :D

Awesome video as always, never fails to deliver. Would love to see a series that follows the Mongol Empire in future.
As soon as I saw this in notifications, I know it’s going to be EPIC!
That soundtrack for the Turks/Mongols is perfect 👌
whats it called?
It’s amazing that epic history tv covers topics like this in such detail this is a masterpiece
Against them, sedentary soldiers were often helpless until the development of efficient battlefield handguns, including the repeating firearms (the firearms that could be fired repeatedly before being manually reloaded) in the seventeenth century.
horse archers were amazing but they were not effective enough against crusader knights.
@@hunterthompson6737 A mobile mounted army would never have to fight them.
@@hunterthompson6737the mongols...
Those were sakas not turkic
@@hunterthompson6737 they were very effective against crusders knights. They were lightning fast and noone could catch them so of course they circle around the armies and attack any weak spots or just fast attacks and retreat.
Simply epic as always, thank you ehtv!
Absolutely fascinating, so much to learn here, thank you.
Excellent editing and pacing as usual. Thanks !
The geographer al-Istakhri, writing in the next century, commented on the 24 preparedness of the frontier men of Shash (modern Tashkent) and Farghana" for war" This encouraged the Caliphs', he goes on,
to recruit men from Transoxania and the Turks became their armies because of their because of their superiority of all other races [ajnas] in bravery, daring, courage and fearlessness. The nobles [dahaqin] of Transoxania were their [i.ethe Caliphs] officers [quwwäd], retinue [hawashi] and chosen servants because of their attentiveness in service their obedience and their fine appearance in uniform. So they formed the retinue of the Caliphs, their trusted attendants and the heads of their armies, like the Turks and the Faraghina who formed the palace guard [shiḥna].
those draws are really something else... congratulations for such a good work as always!
I really love the images from Osprey book! They are miles better than the unrealistic, AI generated art most history channels use. Thank you!
Thank you for showing Turkish influence in the early Islamic era
Fantastic video!
Can you make one for Ummayad and ottomen dynasties as well.
Between this channel and Kings and Generals.. it’s amazing how much I’ve learned about history. Amazing that this platform as we know it now or these channels didn’t even exist ten years ago. Gives me a lot of hope
The city of Baghdad is very amazing the way the wall is built around the circle, the mosque in the middle and is filled with houses and after that the Mamluk Muslims defeated the Mongols after that
So did the Delhi sultanate in India

Been waiting for this one. I knew little of Islamic history prior to part 1 and I had to resist the urge to spoil this video for myself over the last few months. Great series as always. Cheers to EpicHistoryTV!
The Mongol destruction of Baghad is such an interesting and tragic story. I also HIGHLY recommend History Dose's video on this topic. The sound design coupled with the oil paintings really brings the event to life in a captivating way. I've actually watched it multiple times.
Danke!
Idk how to not consider these movies. This is a movie. I treat it exactly the same way. Fantastic work
