Remember if u want to be a leader, u dont need to be strong like Levi. I know Levi is stronger, far stronger than Erwin, but Erwin is so much better when he Lead. A leader must be wise in making every decision, what is the future, and be willing to sacrifice. Same with Cannon. The people who control the Cannon is weak and not strong, but without the people who control the Cannon, the Cannon would not fire up right? Thats why Survey Corps leader is always weak like Erwin, Armin, Hange, they are not strong enough to kill 200 Titans like Levi, but their brain is what lead them to victory. Also, thats why Erwin wants to choose Hange as a new Leader when he died and not Levi. Why? She is more Senior (if u look at Season 1, when Levi joins the Survey Corps, u will see in front of the line, there is Hange. Which mean, before Levi joins Survey Corps, Hange join first) and also she is a better thinker and so much wiser in making decisions.

Ngl, when I watched that for the first time, I cried. Thinking of what Erwin was feeling. Ever since he became Commander it's always been bleak. Everytime they ventured out of the walls, more soldiers died. Their families blamed Erwin for it. Always.
It's not like he had a choice. Both as the Commander of Survey Corps and as a son trying to prove his father's theory right, defeating the Titans was all he could do. But even with all his determination, with his strategies, the will to throw everything away and Humanity's Greatest Soldier under his command, he couldn't make any significant progress.
But in this moment, for the first time, the people who called Survey Corps a burden on Humanity cheered for them. Actually treating them like the heroes countless deceased soldiers deserved. You can see it on his face, the sheer joy and hope that if they succeed, that's the kind of Welcome they will always receive.
It took countless sacrifices, years of hard work, nerves of steel and the loss of an arm for Erwin to be acknowledged by the people just once.
But he didn't know it would be his last.

He probably did, that Titan could’ve easily eaten him, and he still would’ve given orders
Victory at all costs.
Yeah.
What motivated him to do what he did in Aot was his dream that he had after that one history class with his dad. In the words of Kenny, "Everyone's a slave to something." Erwin was a slave to his dream, and dying would finally free him from that. This is reflected when Levi has to make the decision to save Armin or Erwin. While Erwin would probably be a service to humanity if he were brought back, it would not be a service to Erwin himself. I think Erwin is very well written because of this motivation, and Levi as well because he recognizes he has to let Erwin give up on his dream and die.
I believe Erwin sub-consciously realizes this because he doesn't resist when the titan picks him up, but yeah.
He then proceeded to save Eren too.

@Motivation hey chill bro erwins plans lead more steps to victory but major casualties armins plays are sometimes ass but they do sum but not as much but Saving armin was the best choice but chill
What happened already happened
@Motivation All of Erwin's plans were risky, but all were guaranteed success... They would not have succeeded in saving Eren if it wasn't for him, and neither would it have been possible to retake Wall Maria if it wasn't for Erwin. Overthrowing the corrupt government was all Erwin too, including capturing the Female Titan. These among many other things. All Armin did was add support to Erwin's plans.
I am not saying it would have been better to choose Erwin than Armin - Armin is a main character after all. Even I would choose to save Armin over Erwin, but do not disregard Erwin like that. If it wasn't for Erwin, there would be no guarantee for success, and casualties suffered would have been way more than with Erwin.

@@akudiahaha1052 his death realllly hurt me. I wish there was an alternative story line in which he lives
Yeah, and in the recent episode gay armin is planning to stab Eren the person who saved him 2 times in the back. Only Eren focusing about Eldians survivability while everyone else playing around like a lil bitch doing nothing. It won't all be like this if Erwin still alive
Just imagine Erwin pulling out the "Staa Platina Zaa Warudo" 💀💀
best written character in the series imo. Perfect tragic ending of not being able to fully satisfy his life goal of finding out the truth behind humanity for his curiosity sake and his father.
Erwin: Who do you think the enemy is?
Manga readers: He already knew everything
Is Eren but is not Eren... complicated world we live in
He knew the enemy were other humans, not Eren.
@@frankorious3023 I'm pretty sure everyone knows that we just fucking around because erwin is a Goat
@@kcire_1063 It's subjective. Those who don't approve of genocide - Eren is the enemy for them but those who actually understand Eren's reasoning considering the history & Marleyans evil deeds doesn't see Eren as an enemy (his actions are evil)
Reiner: Hey, what's up, I'm the armored titan and he's the colossal, we're here to kill you all.
Erwin's not only intelligent, but moral and courageous. That deserves respect.
Exactly
He should have been the collasal titan, levi is my favorite character but he made a decision that made no sense to me, I really didn't expect him to do that
Coz he is jotaro himself, the man with steel balls
kii
Not exactly moral but everything else is true!
3:55 love this part, particularly when he says "advance" after getting jawed by a titan, also the followup when erwin cuts loose eren from bertholdt is awesome.
erwin is my favorite character (along with eren), and erwin has got to be the most consistent character on the show, that guys persona doesn't miss a beat.

Erwin: "oh no... anyways"
The thing is he never said oh no lol he just said anyways
ADVAAAAAAAANCE!
*SUSUMEEEEEEEEE*
Omllll😂💀 that guy is just-he ain't normal ppl he ain't normal
What put Erwin above most characters, in my opinion, was not his power, but his strategic thinking. I'd argue that Erwin is one of the smartest characters in AOT ever and has won many battles with his pure mind alone. Yes, his fighting ability is lacklustre compared to the likes of the Ackermans and Eren, but brawn doesn't always mean power.
7:21 i was waiting for that moment... that power of his voice always give me courage
They always say the Ackermans are worth/equal to 1000 soldiers
Erwin is worth/equal to a million soldiers
Who’s telling him it’s a billion smh
I think more than begin worth 1 m of soldiers, he is probably one of the few if not the only one to unify 1 m of soldiers.
Yeah he killed a lot of them before he died. Million sounds about right.
Yeah..much better than Armin trash
Nope, He equal to 1000 Ackermans
the dopest Erwin moment is when he and the armored titan are both atop the wall and they both locked eyes. While Erwin was unfazed and all, Reiner almost pooped through his nose. lol gold.
I believe that and the death glare he gave Berthold when he slashed him to get Eran are both the dopests moments
Facts
He was ahead of everyone. He was amazing. Especially when he got his arm bitten off, he kept telling his scouts to keep going forward, such a LEGEND
Alternative title: erwin fangirl screaming and crying for 9 minutes
He won my heart when he kept yelling at them to advance while literally getting his arm eaten by a Titan. His determination and leading skills have made me admire him so much.
This scene still gives me goosebumps.

And people really be out here saying he's selfish. 🙄
@@ostrichfm3244 here’s the thing. A part of why I like Erwin so much is because he’s realistic in a way. He was selfish. He was doing all this just to find out and prove his and his father’s theories. So he was selfish, but then during it all, he realised what he was sacrificing for his own reasons. He changed his mind to save the others; giving up on the entire reason why he started being a commander. That is realistic character development 🤩
> gets his arm bitten off
"ADVANCEEEE!!!"
man's got his priorities, and a pair of gaint ass balls
Wonder if he used his one blade to kill the Titan who bit his arm, or crushed it with those collosal balls
He drowned that titan with his own blood
@Zenith Holocast self advisement isnt cool
Okay hear me out … Henry Cavill as Erwin
"There Is no future where humanity can inhabit these lands without Eren" even after all that's happened he was still right in the end
All of Erwin's plans involves almost everyone dying. I still love him though :D
Jack Ng hes like every other officer in the military, send people to die for no reason.
JustSaiyanSteve not sure about the no reason part tho, but does other officers plans involve dying themselves?
Levi said this
Oh boy he would’ve loved rumbling
@@justsaiyansteve he didn't send people to die for no reason lmfao. he sent people to die because it was necessary to achieve victory or anything like it, not because he liked it. dude, erwin made a full formation (long-distance enemy scouting formation) to avoid useless deaths and encounters with titans, i think it's a little harsh to put it as if he didn't care about death at all ://
"Most of you will likely die in four years"
Damn, this guy even predicted season 4.
Wall Maria had a 98% fatality rate :(
the man who desired to see the world beyond the walls more then almost anyone, but was willing to give his life so others could see it in his place
i remember a few months ago when i was doing my basic training there was a sergeant that reminded me of erwin so much that i just had to double respect the man
+Dungeon Master Where did you go to basic?
His death is one if those anime deaths I'll NEVER get over..
Man, you knew it was coming, but you just didn't want it to happen :/
Same. Everybody be moving on to season 4 and I'm still here in my depressed corner coping with Erwin's death. I can't watch this show without him.
@@happynewyear6240 it’s going to be interesting seeing how Hange and Armin strategize without Erwin. Erwin was an incredible leader and a huge motivation to find the truth. Ever since Erwin died the show just became a dark depressing drama show, no more “lets fuckin go complete an arc and save the fucking world” vibe anymore
true, you describe something that I've been feeling but unable to word it out....it feels empty without Erwin taichou
Exactly.
This is what made the show so amazing. My god it was absolutely amazing. Then season 3 ends kind of weird and season 4 part 1 was shit compared to season 1 and season 2.
The writer ruined the direction this was heading.
@@DaveThaBossDTB I disagree, the later seasons are much better
I still think the show possesses that vibe but it's matured in a way much like the characters. They were all so naive and believed it was them versus the titans, and it was a pretty black and white approach. The monsters vs humanity. But after Erwin dies and they reach the sea, they learn about the outside world and that there's much more complex forces at work. Yea it sucks not having his speeches and spirit, but the scouts still embody that underdog lets save the world vibe. I think the greatest example of this was when they show up to Liberio or whatever and hold their own against a much more advanced military. But yea it is much darker, but I think it's intentional, much like as we mature from children to adults, our world views grow darker (I mean look what happened to all the kids on the show)
@@DaveThaBossDTB completey disagree. S4 adds a whole new perspective and I love the show n writers for that.

@@davesantos3101 the colossal titan was acquired thanks to eren and his friends, especially armin.
Erwin and Levi was at the other side of the wall facing the beast titan.
The suicide charge was all about Levi killing the beast titan.

In the end of the day, Eren, mikasa and armin gave them a win by acquiring the colossal titan, but even erwin didn't predict that.
