    A friend of mine bought his 19 year old son a handgun for Christmas! He was a great kid with promise. Went down to the basement one day and shot himself dead with the gun his dad bought him for Christmas. Why do people think guns are toys?

      @@Bretski126 Don’t you think he could have also found another way to kill himself WITHOUT a gun? for every story like that there are stories about people saving lives as well. The 18 year old new mom whose home was being broken into and she was able to defend herself with a gun. The 14 year old son of a store owner who defended the store …with a gun. However, if you have the slightest inkling that guns can cause more harm than good in your home, then don’t get one.

    The most convincing evidence is that he signed a legal form saying that his purchase for his use and only his use. A lie as all his communications revealed that the gun was a present for his under age kid.

    • @jilpok1074
      @jilpok1074 4 місяці тому +2

      I think it would be different if he would have given him the gun and told him he could walk around town with it. It looked like his dad bought Ethan the gun just to use at the shooting range. Clearly, Ethan had been allowed to use a gun at the shooting range that was rented out to him by the shooting range. So there are many ways you could look at it. Dad bought the gun for himself so that his son could use it at the shooting range. Seemingly it’s acceptable/legal for a Ethan to borrow the gun from the shooting range, so it would make no difference if now he borrows a gun from his dad at the shooting range.

      @@jilpok1074wrong that’s not how it was at all. James made two gun purchases for his son. Both after he knew his son was having mental health issues. Both said it was the shooters Christmas present. In both gun purchases, James signed papers making it legally his gun and also stated that it wasn’t a strong man’s purchase meaning the gun was for James and not for someone else like a minor. The gun was given to the shooter and neither the lock box nor the gun lock that came with it were used.
      Even if the purchase was made for James and the shooter could borrow it at the gun range (which wasn’t the case) still James committed a crime.
      But Jennifer said it was the shooters Christmas present.
      There’s a reason why both were charged.

      @@Weatheredstorms1 So when the shooting range rents out the gun it’s okay and perfectly legal. But if someone lends him a gun to use at the shooting range, then it’s not ok? Don’t you think he could have shot people at the shooting range with the gun that was loaned to him by the shooting range?

These were not parents who couldn't see or handle his mental issues, they helped cause it by their lack of caring. Especially mom. Thank you for asking the question that has been on my mind the whole time! The school administrators KNEW the student was a danger and put all staff and students in immediate danger when they thought, "Well, I guess we've done everything WE can do!" when the idiot parents refused to take him home and get the help he needed. I'm assuming they didn't ask the student if he had a gun with him or check his school bag and locker. They could have stopped all of this from happening. There is no doubt they have responsibility in this. I'd be interested in hearing the Principal respond to the question, "Why didn't you check his bag and locker and remove the student from the school grounds by calling a mental health response team or police to ensure the safety of the staff and students at the school if you had enough concern to call his parents to remove him and they didn't?"

      This infuriates me too bc when I was in high school in Kentucky (this is after columbine), the whole school had to get rid of their damn back packs and carry clear or mesh backpacks. We all had to buy a god damn clear or mesh backpack. Every single student. And were still subject to frequent random searches.
      But after everything that has happened so many times, with what in my opinion is an outright credible threat to safety…..they couldn’t search him or force him home. Wtf

      Realistically, to kick a kid out. They did need to do disciplinary measures or suspension/expulsion. Or some sort of medical need. Now, many would say ya know physc That isn't seen as an immediate need. Like if a kids throwing up, that's one thing you can see. For physc it gets more difficult. They don't know in that moment if he's truly disturbed or just attention seeking. Attention seeking isn't a crime in the way he was doing it. (Atleast not the paper he wrote)

Both trials will be bringing to light what that school did wrong & how those people played a role too. Such a horrible situation all around. Ethan's journal or manifesto alone shows how helpless he felt.. sadly he didn't reach out to a school counselor etc..Add the gun not properly secured was a recipe for negligent parenting and fatalities.. so many lives forever changed all due to negligence.. so sad 😞 ❤

    • @tothelighthouse9843
      @tothelighthouse9843 4 місяці тому

      You need to spend some time looking at Ethan's various writings & communications. He didn't just communicate how 'helpless' he felt. He communicated that he was a sociopath whose greatest pleasure & goal was to inflict harm on the world around him.
      He communicated how much he enjoyed torturing a baby bird by drilling thru its head, & how badly he 'needed another baby bird' to torture. He communicated how much he hated & raged at the world, & how much he wanted to punish everyone else for his own anger & loneliness. He meticulously planned to murder children, & took pleasure from the planning & actual murders. He wrote that if he didn't commit a mass murder he'd 'likely become a serial killer'.
      There's no doubt his parents were negligent & ignored their son his whole life. But MILLIONS of children are raised in that kind of environment. The problem in this situation is that the Crumbley parents were ignoring a sociopath. The red flags were all there, & these parents chose to ignore them. But make no mistake: Ethan was a sociopath with a plan.
