This was a fun review, I think at this point with the limited changes to the Stinger over 5 years, most enthusiasts know what this car is, what it offered and how it will be missed. I recall racing my stock Q50S (RedSport 400) versus the G70 3.3T and being able to beat that in Sport and Sport+ drive modes, but could never beat the Stinger, despite its same powertrain. I'm sure weight had something to do with it, anyway....it is a surprising car that looks as good as it goes. I'm sure the Stinger will be around for a good long while in the hands of the owners that love them. Neat nostalgic feel of this video with the throwback to earlier reviews and drags. You've come a long way in a short amount of time my friend, well done.
Having been on sale since 2018, this car has stood the test of time. It was one of the few cars that never needed a mid-cycle enhancement. Plenty of factory power and performance, technology, the perfect size, etc, Kia really knocked it out and I would venture to say better executed than the G70. Sadly, the $50K+ models were always overshadowed by the Germans that cost about the same as base models. But they didn't combine the style, power, room, reliability/warranty, etc all in a single package. It is going to be missed for sure.
I've put 42,000 kms on my '23 GT Elite in 13 months. Tortured on long trip, light off roading, camping, muddy and dusty forest service road to get to trailheads, hauling construction gear for work. It's mechanically been flawless and possibly one of the most satisfying vehicles I've driven for the money.
Such an incredible car. Glad i got the latest 2023 GT2 AWD in snow white with red interior. Will be enjoying it for years to come. What I love about this car is how different it looks and feels when driving to what everyone buys always. You get quiet a lot for your money. Thanks for making this video.
Great send off Sam ! Been enjoying my 2018 Blue GT2 for almost five years now! Best car I've ever owned. Still puts a smile on my face every time I get in the car!
Epic underrated car. Daily drive my ‘22 rwd with jb4 map2. Surprise many cars and get so many comments about it. Also runs 12.2 1/4 mile which is very impressive for a huge family sedan.
I think out is safe to say that almost all Stinger owners love their car including me. I have one more year on my lease and am wrestling with the idea of buying it or getting a 2025 K5 GT.
I had leased a 2018 GT. Loved the car, looked great, fun to drive. Just had too many issues with the car. Paint issues within the first week that took two weeks to fix. Then had to have the rotors replaced twice. Then there was dealing with Kia and my local dealer. When the lease was coming up, sold it and got a Lexus GS350 F Sport. Again, I really loved the Stinger, but was concerned about long term reliability.
It’s a shame the stinger was axed. I’ve had mine since February of 2019. Just hit 50K miles, been tuned to some extent since 8K and the car has responded wonderfully (And reliably). Sometimes I get the itch for something new, but the car always reels me back in. For instance, right now I’m running the LAP3 Stage 2.0 tune for the GT using water + meth. I happened upon a C8 corvette (base stingray and probably stock) we ran a 30 roll up to 90 and we were neck and neck the whole race. Dude was surprised and it gave me a smile. Made me remember why I love this car so much.
Love the video! It was awesome to see the throwback video (towards the end) of when you did a test drive of the Kia Stinger a few years ago! LOL! After sitting on the sideline, I decided to get a Kia Stinger. It is sad to see Kia discontinue the Stinger as it is such a great car. I agree that the EV6 is nice but it is an EV. Perhaps, Kia will surprise the world and bring back the Stinger in a few years (as a Hybrid?). Keep up the great work!
In 2021 I was looking into used Porsche panorama, Infiniti Red sport, Audi S5 or new Dodge Charger Scat wide body! I didn’t had Stinger in mind but when I test drove it I was sold. New car with no mileage and I got 6k off msrp 10 year warranty. Stinger is solid! Car gets attention!

I'm so glad i bought this car. Paid 36k brand new in 2020. Originally wanted a Charger or a Chevy SS. Both of those are rwd only so they would be horrible in a MN winter. Thinking back on it, the Stinger is wayyyyy better than a Charger in every aspect except the V8 sound. I've gotten used to the turbos spooling now and my other car is a gen 2 ⚡ so i get the best of both worlds. The Chevy SS is hard to beat (although the Stinger is faster stock) with the LS3. Left the Kia dealership and never looked back. So I'm not surprised it sold poorly and was discontinued.
@@davevolz6138 yeah, the Audi dealership was way more accommodating. They let me keep their S5 demo overnight. Not to mention the dealership itself was a lot more luxurious than the Kia dealer. The Kia dealer felt like a random used car store.
@@Blue-moon12 yeah they are considered a luxury brand so that makes sense. My wife owns a Hyundai and even their dealerships are better than Kia despite being under the same parent company 🫤

You need to clear your ears - or take some classes. It’s launch control if you never heard of it before. Is a set of parameters in the automobile created to get the best start off the line. It has a set RPM, traction control and correct gear to get the best start. Like launching a space shuttle:) Cheers
Headlights look similer but stinger looks better and stands out more. In the UK BMWs are so common, no one turns their head to look at a BMW or Audi. Might aswell drive a ford fiesta. But when you see a stinger go by everyone looks. Makes it feel more special
Stinger failed in the market… 😂😂😂 Kia has no brand value in US. People buy it because it’s cheap. This is the very reason why Stinger failed - it was too expensive.
3 big flaws a) the bulky, thick, wide C pillar restricting visibility which in turn is bad for safety b) 250 to 300 lbs too damn heavy c) look at the specific power and torque (power and torque per liter) and it falls behind its competitors. Want an example? This car (3342 cc in displacement) is only 23% more powerful and 38% torquier than the 1618 cc Corolla GR, so the stinger has 106% displacement advantage. FAIL! F grade. Finally one must compare stock vs stock and NOT stock vs modified.
The GR is running at 25psi max boost in its turbos to compensate for its displacement disadvantage. The Stinger is 11-12psi max in stock form. You’re not talking about most competitors when you compare the GR’s 3-cyl engine. If you boost the stock Stinger to just 19-20psi with a $500 piggyback, your numbers move to 43% more hp and 50% more torque
"if you boost..." that is hypothetical. That statement can't be verified. The fact remains that GR corolla is the more high tech of the. Likewise the A5 AMG, Golf R etc compared to the stinger. By the way not everyone knows that GR runs a max 25 psi boost and Stinger only 12. @@jacobw6811
only an envious person can say, Kia sells more cars because they've gotten better and are number 3 worldwide, so they're better than many wannabe premium disposable shit like Mercedes or BMW and yes I've driven and tested many 😉

@@davevolz6138 yeah, the Audi dealership was way more accommodating. They let me keep their S5 demo overnight. Not to mention the dealership itself was a lot more luxurious than the Kia dealer. The Kia dealer felt like a random used car store.
Most kia dealerships suck. Which is the biggest drawback to owning one.
@@Jweiss76Agreed. However Genesis have been brilliant to deal with
@@Blue-moon12 yeah they are considered a luxury brand so that makes sense. My wife owns a Hyundai and even their dealerships are better than Kia despite being under the same parent company 🫤
I blame the forced governmental change to EV for the downfall of this amazing car!
Same
Well the enginees who design the BMW M are the one's who design the STINGER .. by the M vice president of engineering Albert Bierman in 2017
Owning a 19 the new brake lights are a crime ,,, why would you not want the Mazerati tail lights and want your stinger to have pretty much the k5 tail light ,, it blows my mind people actually updating older ones to the new Non Mazerati lights 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
What the hell is a lunch control
You need to clear your ears - or take some classes. It’s launch control if you never heard of it before. Is a set of parameters in the automobile created to get the best start off the line. It has a set RPM, traction control and correct gear to get the best start. Like launching a space shuttle:) Cheers
Pretty sure telluride made kia what it is today
Nahhh - it helped, but this made Kia popular
This car was missing back seat ambient lighting, digital dash and a lil bit more power
TREE-BUTE
tri·byoot
Despite the better interior and infotainment I'd still take a q50 red sport
facts
I'd take a regular Q50 over this car, it's fugly. It would be fun to drive, but then it's a Kia and fast is all its got.
Man those cars have Bad engines here, No one really wants them. Good looking car though
The car that copied BMW 3 series!
How did you figure that ? Guess you meant the 4 Series as well
@@UnderWarranty front looks very similar to last gen 340i
Headlights look similer but stinger looks better and stands out more. In the UK BMWs are so common, no one turns their head to look at a BMW or Audi. Might aswell drive a ford fiesta. But when you see a stinger go by everyone looks. Makes it feel more special
I just don't understand .. why Kia ?
🙁
Stinger failed in the market… 😂😂😂 Kia has no brand value in US. People buy it because it’s cheap. This is the very reason why Stinger failed - it was too expensive.
BMW BENZ AUDI KILLER ❤
It just doesn't look good...
No BODY CARES IS A KIA 😂
The interior is not so great,
3 big flaws a) the bulky, thick, wide C pillar restricting visibility which in turn is bad for safety b) 250 to 300 lbs too damn heavy c) look at the specific power and torque (power and torque per liter) and it falls behind its competitors.
Its not the same car class....moron
Garbage brand 25 years ago, Garbage brand now
only an envious person can say, Kia sells more cars because they've gotten better and are number 3 worldwide, so they're better than many wannabe premium disposable shit like Mercedes or BMW and yes I've driven and tested many 😉
Elaborate on why it's garbage.
@@AaronSmith561 because a stinger has pulled him off several times that creates hate
Not garbage at all. It improved dramatically over the years....
he is more then likely a badge snob,,,,,or maybe a stinger trashed him in a race
Great video Daamnn I want one but don’t want the payment
14:30 aint no way yall drivin on the wrong side of the road just for a good shot 😭
It’s actually a flipped camera. It looks like that, but it’s just flipping the camera view ;)
Kia Screwed up they should’ve made the Next Gen with a Hybrid but instead choosing to kill it off don’t make sense. Dodge is smart there selling chargers and challengers like hot cakes because they have a good product
I agree, hybrid would have been the way to go.
This car didn't make Kia famous or put it on the map. It hasn't existed that long. The Optima would be the car that put Kia on the map.
