It’s so sad to see all the pain and suffering he’s been going through with injuries. As a youngster, watching wrestling you take it for granted how much these wrestlers put their bodies on the line for our entertainment.

      1. Amateur and pro wrestling are two completely different animals. He is a gold medalist, and beat Brock in an actual wrestling match.
      2. Brock barely made the practice squad before being cut. And the NFL *attempt* was after he left WWE the first time.
      3. All wrestlers are actors and Brock had to be carried by Heyman for 20 years because he had the charisma of a stick and couldn't talk. Kurt was comedy gold. He didn't need anyone to talk for him. That being said, never heard of Brock acting outside of the ring.

I was in narcotics in the 80’s and 90’s . I was making a lot of drug arrest but I was working a lot of oxy deaths.
I found that everyone was either getting oxy from the VA or two doctors in town.
I found that one of these doctors was giving a lethal amount to some patients. He was in private practice and was giving out more that any pain clinic in the state.
So I worked the doctors. Made cases. One doctor died. The second doctor moved to Alaska.
They did not even come close to losing their license. They showed up in court one time and “worked a deal”.
I have arrested a lot of folks with money who could afford a very good defense. But doctors , just by being doctors, get deferred treatment..
However.. the oxy supply was cut.
I knew better than even talk to the VA.
I did start sending out letters to doctors when I found their drugs trafficked. Like Joe said, “doctors are rule followers”. I started getting calls from doctors about drug seeking patients..
I started putting in my reports where the drugs that killed people came from when I could find it.
The newspaper would print, “the drugs that resulted in this death were diverted from a prescription by doctor Pusher.”
Building a practiced based on your willingness to write prescriptions disappeared. Doctors stopped the large scrips.
I had everyone in my area pissed at me it seemed..

One of the worst parts of opiate withdrawal (for me atleast) aside from all the usual symptoms, the watery eyes!! My eyes would be stinging and raw and tender to the touch.. I had a designated small blankets strictly used to keep on my eyes when trying to sleep (so there was something soaking the non stop eye perspiration!! Also the lower back ache u get from ur muscles being all tense 24/7..

Friend of mine worked for WWE on production side for a decade. We were discussing wrestlers dying young about 12years ago and what he said was shocking. He said that it is good that wrestlers are dying young as there is nothing to look forward for them apart from pain, hunger and more pain. Majority of wrestlers are jobbers who earn minimum wage or slightly more. Plus they do not have 401k or health insurance. So wrestlers who are not part of roaster or have retired, earn money by meeting fans and earing money for their autographs or t-shirts. These guys are in 40s but look like they are in 60s as they have multitudes of health issues. Some who have invested wisely will have houses but majority of wrestlers after retirement will be in trailer parks or on govt assistance as they would have blown their money on pain meds. He mentioned that WWE should pay health insurance of anyone who have wrestled for them as these guys earn money for WWE. He talked about a particular wrestler who was not a big name but was very kind to him when he was just an intern. So WWE had arranged a meet and greet so that retired wrestlers can earn money, my friend by then was managing it. This wrestler was there and he could not walk without a cane, had gone through surgeries and was battling pain med addiction. My friend gave a prime spot for this wrestler and also ensured that he got enough attention from fans. At the end of the day, wrestler came to him, shook his hand and said he made enough money to last for the year(He might have earned about 7-8k) I stopped watching WWE after listening all this and my favorites like Eddie Guerrero and Benoit was gone. I hope WWE is treating their wrestlers better now.

Honestly listening to Kurt and hearing about other athletes going through spinal fusion hits different when you are 13 years on from having scoliosis and needing a full spinal fusion with rods. No mobility in my back since that point, 16 years old and literally no idea of how to go about learning to walk again, let alone know what to do as a career. It never got better. I've just been lost ever since. If your Doctor tells you that you need fusion get a second opinion and try and seek an alternative
