    Explosive power is foundational to athletes in most sports. It's also an extremely complex area of training to understand. In this video you will learn about the mixed methods approach to training for power.

      @mostafa khemissi I started boxing 4 years ago. I was 200lbs at 30% body fat. 140lbs now at 16% body fat. First things first, get you eating in order. I don't mean dieting, diets are temporary. Eat protein carbs and fibre. Keep away from chocolate and foods with added sugar. Plenty of videos on UA-cam to help with workouts combinations etc. It's a gradual process. Try doing steady State Cardio on the heavybag 10+ minutes to help build your tank for the harder weeks ahead. Give us an update if possible. Curious to know if you've already started. Good luck.

    This is gold... World class knowledge, thanks for the sharing, this advices are good to tell those old timers who think gym training is only for body building.
    but may I say this is not 5 "ways", but more towards 5 "key components".

    Also, athleticism means body coordination, look into depth in EVERY MOVEMENT, if you wanna be exceptional in your sport, that’s how you make it look effortless, core strength, hip strength, key, mobility, if it hurts when you move it then it’s weak, body coordination will make you levitate

    Hi,should we avoid training to failure when training for speed/power?

    • @tptonypham2323
      @tptonypham2323 3 роки тому +1

      Weights need to be heavy enough to overload muscles with tension, but not too much that you cannot execute the exercise properly. Reaching till failure help you recruit more muscle fibers, but make sure it’s save. The body is only going to grow, when it’s really needed - this is a survival mechanism.

      @Bi0pandemic Рік тому

      You need both velocity and force to throw fast and heavy punches, honestly you need all of the above except high velocity strength imo. You dont want to weight train to often as that leads to more muscle which you dfont want as that will slow you down

    what about these lightweights x 30 reps + FAST EXECUTIONS???

    • @PowerTraining
      @PowerTraining  2 роки тому +4

      Considering you go maximal effort, you would probably peak the first 1-6 reps, and then, your power would significantly decrease and finally at the higher reps, it's just like endurance training for the body.

  • @acts9835
    @acts9835 Рік тому

    Boxer here, is 5 pound weights too light for speed training? I lie down on the floor and dumbell press 5 pound weights as fast and as explosively as I can too potentially increase my punching speed or power. (my weight is 155 and my bench is 215) Im also trying to avoid getting mass.

    • @rigohook1160
      @rigohook1160 11 місяців тому

      Hey, mate. Former boxer here. I think it's way to light, not an expert tho, so take the following advice with a grain of salt. I'd find out what my maximum bench press would be, take a third of the weight away and woukd press that as fast as i can. But avoiding getting more mass, as you said, this could be not for you, if you have to stay in your weight class.

    • @acts9835
      @acts9835 11 місяців тому +1

      @@rigohook1160 it actually helps apparently, power lifters use really light weights and go as fast as they can just too get that extra velocity boost. Kinda like how manny pac throws combos as fast as he can too gain speed and endurance. The bench you described is good for power training and velocity training. As long as you have a low calorie diet and high protien diet you wont gain muscle but youll get stronger.

    He says any further work on strength training would give you minimal gains why so if your still producing more force than you did before
    Example if an Athlete weighs 190lb has a 405lb High bar ATG Back Squat and has a 30 inch Vertical Jump
    If the Same Athlete 1 Year later weighs 196lbs now has a 495lb High Bar Back Squat and now has a 32 inch Vertical Jump
    3 Years Later the Same Athlete now weighs 205lbs high bar Squats 515 has a 35in Vert
    The Vertical Jump Keeps Going Up Considering his Relative Strength Percentage is Still 2.2 above I Feel like there’s no limit to how much added benefit it is to getting Stronger if I Squat 500 and weigh 205 I would have increased Total Force Production than if I’m 190 squatting 405

    • @glago93
      @glago93 6 місяців тому +1

      I don't know that there is a "limit" but there are definitely diminishing returns past a certain point... it's different for everyone. Perhaps you haven't reached that threshold yet.
