No wonder my Husky pours out oil. I gotta fix that, gas tank cracked and my blades wont engage. I might do it or let a local shop do all the repairs, Guy is SUPER reasonable and does good work. I'm working 7 days a week, and its hard to get to it. But you answered my Oil Leak question.
I'm glad it helped, even if you don't fix it yourself you know what is the issue is.
Thank you. That is was very helpful. Loosen the engine bolt slightly to gain leverage on the drain bolt plug.
Your welcome, thank you for watching.
Good video, common problem across many brands.
Yes it is. I've seen it more times than I can count. Thank you for watching
Easy fix buddy great video you know how to get it done
Thank you. You know the deal..see a problem and fix it..thats how we roll.
Hello, I'm a new sub. from tampa boys. I loved my dad but he didnt teach me these things. im learning all this from watching you guys. :) have a blessed day. ~Lisa ann
Thank you Lisa ann. Stick around and we with teach you all we can. Thank you for watching and subscribing
Very nice job. I have the Husqvarna LGT 2554 with Kohler 25hp.
I noticed mine is leaking now. I will measure and double check but it looks the same as yours. I bought my mower from Lowes 10 year's ago. It's held up really well. Thanks for sharing. John
Thank you for watching. I seen all of this style oil plugs leak no matter the brand of engine.
Another great video mate.. but I would expect nothing better from the master
I'm no master, I just try to fix stuff without making it worse. Thank you for watching
Great video brother. Nice fix, makes ya wander why it wasn't that way from the factory! Not complicated enough I guess lol. PEACE!!!!!
They work for a while but eventually they all fail but it's a selling point for the dealer.
If the oil it hot when you change it...doesn’t get quicker than that! Nice and simple BUT VERY EFFECTIVE AND IMPORTANT!
Yes I agree, changing the oil hot is the best way to get it all out.
Looks like a good job. I put hydraulic lines on with a brass plug in the end that bends over the frame. My tractor just happens to have enough clearance to be able to use it. It's been over the side and works well to use with a drain pan. Looks like the same mower that my mother's got 54-in cut Husqvarna with a 24-25 horse Kohler in it luckily it hers is still working correctly but it will be changed out here in the future if it starts leaking. It's good to see the options that you can use to improve the oil drainage on these motors. And yes the plastics drains are junk I've changed out a few on Briggs and kohlers.
Yes I've used the hydraulic lines on some equipment also, they work well for hard to reach or poorly places drain plugs.
That quick drain i think it's the worst thing someone invented as Sune as mine started to leak that's what I did I put a pice of pipe an elbow an a plug i has never leaked after that an it's not heard to un screw the plug. Thanks for the video
You are right it's not had to swap them out, on this engine I found that there wasn't enough clearance between the frame and the plug to get even a thin wall socket on it so I had to loosen lift the engine a bit. Thank you for watching.
Thanks for video
Thank you for watching
Nice job I’ve seen that leak be for junk part
Yes they are. Thanks for watching
gasoil pipe sealant is good for plugs its super sticky and doesn't dry prevents leaks.
Awesome, I'll try that on the next one. Thanks
Great video, I've had good and bad luck with them. Rather have the pipe straight from manufacturers new.
Later...
I agree the pipe is a much better way of doing it but the quick drain is a selling point for some people.
You don't need to loosen the engine to get the drain out. Get you at 15/16th crows foot socket, it will fit nicely.
@DavidMorris-sv9yx I tried a crows foot and various other sockets and none would fit. Besides that most DIY people would not have a crows foot laying around and these videos are geared towards people that want to work on their own stuff.
@@PullerbearEd Hey man, I work on my own equipment, and I was just suggesting what worked well for me.
@DavidMorris-sv9yx I get that and appreciate your suggestion. I wasn't throwing smoke or anything. I get a lot of comments on how I'm telling people the wrong way or that I'm doing it totally wrong. I just try to give people the information and encouragement to work on their own equipment and try to show that you don't need thousands of dollars in tools to take care of "simple " problems that come up.
Where's your down spout for easy drain
I didn't put a down spout on it..I wanted to keep it tucked back in a little
@@PullerbearEd I just got through fixing a husqvarna zero turn that had an oil leak in the same spot. Plus other issues with the mower...It was free for a friend of mine...
Right on..I do "karma" repairs sometimes too.
I done this a few times
Ya its a really common problem.
No need to raise the motor, use a crowfoot to remove that piece of yellow crap..
A crowfoot would not fit, I tried.
What size crowfoot if you are sure?
@@jamesdean5677 Sorry been busy trying to locate a lost snake.. The size is 15/16 Snap-on crowfoot..
@@franknichols6894 Thanks, I am just going to do the new drain setup. I hate my Husqvarna 54 inch lawn tractor in every way lol.
@@franknichols6894 what about the nipple where do we get that new threaded nipple. What size and thread count do I order?
Thanks my yellow plastic part got brittle broke in my 2 fingers so I'll go gey the pipe
That is a common problem with them, it's a good idea replace them even if they ate not leaking because they will.
@@PullerbearEd I put a 4inch with elbow and plug no drains in a pan
If I send you my email, can you send me a picture of your set up with your winch for lifting. I’m trying to come up with one. It will be cheaper than putting a steel beam across my ceiling
Yes I can do that. My email is on the channel homepage.
