- Body cam footage takes place on September 5th, Several FWC Officers were on water patrol in Broward County. While conducting a safety inspection, they noticed multiple alcoholic beverages on the vessel's floor. When the operator was asked about these, he claimed they were his fathers who previously used the boat.

Had the same composure when I got brought in for wax possession, dodged a weekend in jail and got off of supervision after trial because of it. Once you've been caught you can't avoid it so being friendly and making the process easy only goes in your favor. Class act.

That's why they didn't arrest him. And we have people complaining that they didn't arrest him for intoxication. Like for what? They charged him for what they had evidence that he did. I'm sure he's not "completely sober" which is why he didn't do the test. But definitely not drunk and dangerous. And there has to be some incentive to actually act like an adult.

It's not the end of the world, and he doesn't actually seem impaired, so what is the officer going to "go off of"? Does he seem drunk to you? He got busted for possession and refusal, got taken off the boat so he wasn't driving, just in case, so it's not like he got nothing. What's the point in being polite and respectful if the cop is still going to tack on every single charge he possibly can even though you don't seem particularly intoxicated? Basically without clear signs of intoxication all they have is that he was in possession and he refused tests, charging him with intoxicated boating would basically be arresting him on an assumption, and the charge would probably be dismissed anyway, especially since the father clearly knows what's up.

There were clearly multiple kinds of alcohol on the boat and he could only name corona, which he probably knows what his son drinks, or is actually the kind of beer he left in there, but couldn’t name any of the other ones. The look on the other officers face indicated there were other brands he couldn’t name that were in there as well, which is suspicious.
Those were high noons in that cooler thing. He didnt name the brand but he did say black cherry seltzer water which is what a high noon is vodka seltzer

The cop wants a precise inventory of what's on the boat otherwise it's RAS. I don't know if anyone would have been able to rattle off an itemized inventory of what was there. You and your friends are on the boat drinking the night before, you bring alcohol, they bring stuff, the end of the night comes everyone leaves ... Not one single person would have been able to say what was on the boat.
Underage means there can't be any alcohol. And the safety inspection was a fail.

If LE wants to accuse someone of being under the influence of alcohol and they have probable cause, bring a breathalyzer. If they have probable cause to believe they're under the influence of other drugs, arrest them and give them a blood test... but if they're wrong, they should be held accountable.

Untie the line, you've made an implied contract with the state, FWC, and the USCG to follow the laws on the water. Not hard, I do it 50-70 hours a week on the salt, another 15-20 on the river, my backyard mown grass goes to it's water line.

As a long time boat owner, I know how fast things go bad. I’m furious with this encounter. Especially knowing this kid has multiple prior boating offenses! But, hey maybe I care about these kids more than the dad. He didn’t even blink at the fact that his 16 year old was out on a boat that isn’t equipped properly, loaded down with alcohol, and likely had been drinking. What should we expect?

So sober that the cops couldn't even find the indicators they always seem to find, slurred speech, red eyes, watery eyes, the smell of alcohol coming from him, nothing. I'm with the kid on this one. Give him a verbal warning and a bit of education and he'll be fine. (Oh, I thought it was one prior.)
