'Schitt's Creek' Cast and Comics Surprise Eugene Levy During His Lifetime Achievement Award

- Eugene Levy accepted the Newport Beach Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award and though he couldn't give his acceptance speech in person due to Covid-19, that didn't stop a few of his close friends from surprising him with a tribute video. Along with his "Schitt's Creek" co-stars and children, his friends Steve Martin, Martin Short, Jennifer Coolidge also shared in the celebration.

My god. Schitt's creek is such a family friendly comedy. A whole family can sit down and watch it and see themselves in it somewhere Not vulgar or over the top. Always knew after American pie he had something special. I'm sure others knew this long before me. God bless you Eugene.
I know John's death left a giant hole in the cast of SCTV but I'm glad to see them still keeping in touch with each other. Good people.

omg, I love the Levy family. And Steve, Eugene and Martin going back n forth, dying of laughter...my dad raised me on every single thing Steve Martin ever did, can prob quote every line from every film. I love all of these wonderfully talented charming comics, so delightful. Eugene is the person everyone wants over for dinner and to be their friend and dad too.

I fell in love with Eugene's genius when I was 12 in 1979 watching SCTV. I have tears in my eyes for this tribute. What a great man and hey...he's Canadian.

Piston or bulb syringe won’t make your patients cringe sure flow sure flow….. when I was a nursing student the lovely voice of Moira Rose played through my subconscious and your work together and your pregnant Canadian pauses in reaction to your beautiful stage wife made my work carrying for others lighter and broader haha. Such a gem, such a wild range of eyebrow acting and dilated pupils on command. This was beautiful.
I have loved everything he's in, but Shitts Creek is my current favorite show. It is so good. Perfect cast
It is always lovely to hear that people whose talent you love are wonderful for more than just their talent. I've been a fan since I was a little kid, when we were lucky enough to get SCTV here in the states.

I think the most heartwarming thing is his facial expressions and emotions when his children are talking about him. He's a great guy, peers seem to think so and I think the rest of us can all agree. It just appears that deep down, he does what he does with his family on his heart and in his soul. THAT's what makes him a great man, the rest is just "glitter" :)
Eugene is a great dad and it shows on Dan and Sarah. They are very sweet and loving.

He is really special human being. I love every movie and TV show he’s been in. As soon as he showed up in a scene he steals it from everyone. You can tell that he is a very loving, caring,devoted,dedicated, warm, sweet, understanding, and big hearted. How can anyone not love this man is beyond me. He’s the one person that I would really love to meet. That’s how much I think of this man. Eugene Levy. Your simply the best. Better then all the rest. That song fits you to a tee. ❤❤❤❤❤

Eugene, I've been watching your work since the 80s and from SCTV to schitts creek you are an exquisite unique actor. Canadians love you. Toronto loves you. Thank you.
This guy is unbelievably talented and, apparently, about as nice as it gets. That character comes through in his work, as well. I KNEW his character in Splash was going to turn out good because there was just something innately decent in him despite his being an ass-hat the first half of the movie. Then, as if his acting and directing and film-making (co-creator with Chris Guest of Guffman through For Your Consideration) weren't enough, he ended up writing one of the most delightful songs I've ever heard for the soundtrack of A Mighty Wind and sang the hell out of it too. I was with him, wiping tears away at the end of the tribute. I've been a fan of Eugene for 44 years, now. I hope I die before he does because I would not do well on that day.
Ah good! I was scrolling down the comments, mystified that the movies with Christopher Guest were getting no mention. Ok, someone referred to him a Best In Show and someone else acknowledged the call out but the tribute was kind of oblique! A Mighty Wind and Waiting for Guffman not only have two of my favourite Eugene Levy performances in them, they’re two of my favourite movies of all time. I mean, yeah Schitt’s Creek is brilliant obviously, off the scale! and a huge popular success but it always depresses me slightly that if I mention the Christopher Guest movies anywhere, not that many people seem to have heard of them. I mean, I’m not judging, because I’ve never seen American Pie e.g. It’s kinda random and coincidental what one happens to have watched but those movies are so precious to me that it’s heart-warming to see someone finally mention them here and in this context. I can heave a sigh of relief and log off happy now 😂

I’m named after my grandmother Martha, whom was born in Nova Scotia and couldn’t be more proud especially since seeing how polite, kind and respectful the Canadian people are to everyone. That’s exactly how my grand-mom and all her children were, all the time. Been to Canada twice in my 70 years but never to N.S. as I didn’t know all my history. Thank you Eugene for letting that light shine through for me. ❤️✝️😘
